Triangulation and Internal Stability

Trusses: series of stable triangles

Triangles are locked into one shape the moment all three sides are linked together (contrary to the case of quadrilateral – rectangle, parallelograms)

Ideal truss:

• Pin connections (idealization)

• No bending moments (idealization)
