Relationship between sound pro-duced in a space and its listeners, of particular concern in the design of concert halls and auditoriums. Good acoustic design takes into ac-count such issues as reverberation time; sound absorption of the finish materials; echoes; acoustic shad-ows; sound intimacy, texture, and blend; and external noise. Architec-tural modifications (e.g., orchestral shells, canopies, and undulating or angled ceilings and walls) may act as focusing elements to improve sound quality.
About the external envelope: re-cover the original configuration, not only for being the initial and oldest but also having a major typological and compositional co-herence.Inside the building: recover the configuration and original ambi-ence of the theatre. It recovers the original horseshoe wall which were eliminated in 1929.

PERFORMING ARTS CENTER / EL CANAL
In order to solve the problem of the same volume for different configurations it was proposed to build a variable acoustic sys-tem. Behind the skin formed by wooden board with large holes, there are installed cotton cur-tains with a motorized track.By moving the curtains the ab-sorption available in the room may increase or decrease and, consequently, the reverbera-tion time may change too. This space is destined to be a workshop, scenic arts factory, dedicated especially to text the-atre and contemporary theatre.

Valencia will be the first Berklee campus outside of Boston. It will be devoted to advancing contemporary mu-sic education; studying and applying leading-edge music technology and international music business models. Ad-ditionally it will be focused on promotion of the diverse musical traditions of Europe,
North Africa, and the Middle East that have come together in Valencia and its surround-ings.
ACADEMIC AREAPlanned to be operational in January 2012, the academ-ic area includes ensemble rooms, classrooms, private instruction rooms, and prac-
tice rooms. All rooms have been specifically built with the highest standards of acoustic room treatment, through the use of absorption and diffu-sion materials on the surfaces of the room, and soundproof-ing, to provide sonic isolation between the rooms.
