ÁNGEL ESPARCIA GARRIDOAbout Me

I am going to introduce myself; from an early age I wanted to become an architect, I have just finished an equivalent Master’s Degree of architecture in U.P.V. fulfilling my dream. I was fortunate to enjoy an Erasmus Scholarship during my architecture studies in 2011 where I met the International scope and multicultural. At that moment, it began to be a curiosity and a priority in my life. Since then I wanted a job in which travel and with which meet different places and cultures, always providing that bit to my training like an architect which feeds by diversity.

About myself, I consider that I am a very active person, positive and creative, and given my education capable of giving effective solution to several kind of problems and with great capacity for teamwork.

Profile

I have a five year Master’s Degree in Architecture acquired at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) where I received a technical and artistic education. I feel special predilection for spaces design, and other architectural topics as Design, Photography, Landscape, Lighting, Sustainability, Rehabilita-tion, Interior Design and Furniture Design and I am specially motivated to turn my ideas into reality.

On my designs, I am rigorous with the definion and development of every project. I bet on innova-tion, simplicity and effectiveness. I work combining many strategies and my architectural position is between creativity and technology.

Purpose

The aim of this document is introduce myself, and some of my remarkable works to architectural firms and design studios.

I am looking forward to work like a challenging to expand my horizons in an outstanding international architectural enviroment and become part of the design and contribute with my knowledge and expe-rience ,given that in Spain architects are formed with high technical skills through the hard work and teamwork. At the same time I would like to learn, because I believe that the profession in which I have been formed I will never stop learning.

01 Cultural Center in “Benimaclet”

- Final Project, ETSAV (2015)- Location: Benimaclet, Valencia- 5700 m2

Benimaclet is a neighborhood of Valencia with a long agricultural tradicion. A town was the origin of it and it is posible to read it on his actual structure. Nowadays peo-ple live there feel that they are living in a town with their mores. The main idea of the project is transfer the elements of the Me-diterranean culture, that are pre-sent in the surroundings, to our building .

Our Cultural Center has been structured by an exterior circu-lation around the center square, feature of Meditarranean architec-ture and germ of the project and the town.

With a U shape which is open to Benimaclet, we situate the en-trance on the highest stress point of the shape, where we have search to surprise the user throu-gh the space.

We situate on the ground floor the auditorium given that needs a di-rect access, the exposition room and the association spaces with independence door on the yard for itselves. They are an element with a long tradicion in the neigh-borhood and there is the lack of apropiatte spaces for them on the surrondings.

On the first floor we situate the library, some classrooms and a rest room. The cafeteria is inde-pendent of the rest of the building given that we think that should works independently.

02 Coworking in “Cabanyal”

- PR IV, ETSAV (2014)- Location: Cabanyal, Valencia- 2480 m2

We could define Cabanyal like the ancient fishermen´s neighbor-hood of Valencia next to the sea with a long tradicion and a charac-teristic structure where it is possi-ble to read its tradition.

The main idea of the project is to re-use an old factory to turn it in a Coworking, a new tipology, and revitalize the degraded neighbor-hood. We decide to recover the old main axis of the neighborhood like a pedestrian path and pre-serves the exterior of the factory with some little changes creating in the interior some mass ele-ments of concrete where we de-velop the program, acording with the old Valencian buildings. This is, with paths between the mass elements. In the midle of our buil-ding a garden generates a transi-tion and a confortable space for our Coworking.

03 Comercial Center in “Ensanche”

- PR II, ETSAV (2011)- Location: Ensanche, Valencia- Team with: Aaron Callejas,-Caroline Giora, Ester Vallés.- 12.000 m2

Ensanche is the name of the district built around 1850 in Valencia. It is characterized by its chamfering rectangu-lar squares. The topic of the proyect is what to do with the inside of the square given that nowadays they are impaired and with the lack of design in a priviliged place in the city.

The idea is to design a Comer-cial-Cultural center in the block interior using two of the aban-doned buildings as entrance. Our building is under a cover which is use like a public spa-ces that qualifies the inner spa-ce.

04 Urban Intervention in “Pobla de Vallbona”

- URB I, ETSAV (2010)- Location: Pobla de Vallbona- Team with: Alberto Gisbert, Ca-rolina Juan - 30.000 m2

Pobla de Vallbona is a town near of Valencia with a huge potencial given its proximity to the me-tropolis. The project consists in the design and urbanization of an area that is a hinge between different typologies, solving the problems that we could find out in the surrounding area. We think that it is necessary to include some equipment that the town needs like a school or commer-cial buildings. In the residential area we combine towers, with townhomes and blocks, genera-ting diversity and giving harmony to the town.

05 Concrete Sculture

- Arq. Temática IV, ETSAV (2014)- Team with: Daniel Infante, Jasmina Medanovic and Kasia Rowinska .

Concrete is one of the most ver-satile and advanced building materials today. The aim of this course was to investigate the constructive concretion with raw concrete projects and the experi-mentation with this material and its condition like material in the projectual process of this essen-tial material for the edification.

We researched the possibilities of formwork, the textures and the shadows over the material. It was design like a public building in a public area, using the mass implicit in the material and the texture of the constructive pro-cess, resulting the sculpture as a conceptual model.

The choice of way for the shut-tering of the work, its shape for the correct concreting of the pie-ce and select the materials that conform it to not interfere with the concrete has been some of the considerations in the design process of the piece.

06 Photography

Given that photography is one of my hobbies and it keeps a close relation with architecture I would like to show some of my works.

My trips, the light and some ar-chitectual topics are the inspira-tions of my photos.That is why they are varied in themes , tech-nical and objectives.

During the years I have develo-ped some photo series like “The intimate city” where I try to find those most neglected corners of the city showing their particular beauty and inspire me someti-mes in my spare time.
