- Discovered volume when King Hieron II wanted to know if his
crown was pure gold. Archimedes discovered solution while taking a
bath from how much water overflowed the tub.
- During second Punic war in 214BC, King Hieron II asked
Archimedes to make inventions of war-machines for defense against
Roman general Marcellus(second Punic War laid siege to
Syracuse)
- Archimedes was unsure about helping because he didnt want to

a hook that was able to life attacking ships partly out of the
water.

because Archimedes would not follow the Soldiers orders. When
Marcellus, Roman commander, herd about Archimedes death, he ordered
a monument be put up in Archimedes honor.
