“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love is Everlasting”.
THANKSGIVING
FOOD DRIVE
On behalf of the Good Shepherd Ministries and all those they serve we thank you for your donations of non-perishable food items.
Your gifts will provide hot, nourishing meals for those who live on the streets and for those who
struggle to survive.
SOCK IT TO ME! During the Month of October (AKA Socktober!) we continue to collect warm winter socks for men, women and teens. They will be distributed to
those who live on the streets by the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Felix Centre and Good Shepherd Ministries. Drop off your donations in the front vestibule of the church before or after Mass or leave them at the office.
PRAY THE ROSARY October is the Month of the Holy Rosary. As Catholics we meditate with Mary on the Mysteries of Jesus her Son. The Rosary is prayed in St. Clement church from Monday to Friday immediately following the 8:15 morning Mass. We encourage families to pray a decade of the Rosary together at some point during the day. “The family that prays together, stays together.”
QUEEN OF HEAVEN DVD SERIES Join us every Saturday morning during the Month of October for the continuation of our DVD series “Queen of Heaven”. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes. Next Saturday: “Our Lady of Fatima”.
EDUCATE, REFLECT, ACT! A federal election will be held on October 21, 2019. To help Catholics learn more about important issues, the Archdiocese of Toronto has prepared a series of short, one‐page resources, inviting us to reflect on the election through the lens of our faith. These non‐partisan tools will help us discern the path forward as we elect those who will lead our country. Visit the Election Canada booth in the front vestibule or visit www.archtoronto.org/election.

OKTOBERFEST PARTY The Kingsway Council of the Knights of Columbus is hosting an Oktoberfest Evening next Saturday, October 19th at Holy Angels Church Hall (61 Jutland Road Etobicoke). Dinner at 7:00 p.m. followed by live music and dancing. Cash bar. All proceeds to the Dorothy Lea Hospice and K of C Charities. Tickets $30.00. For tickets or more information please call John at 416‐558‐6855 or email [email protected]. YAK & YARN REQUEST Every Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. a group of avid women gather in the parish hall to crochet and knit. Everything made is donated to Dr. Simone’s “Save the Children” Missions. See our parish website for
pictures of their phenomenal output. They are looking for donations of yarn to assist with their work. If you have something to give you can drop it off at their Thursday
evening meeting or at the parish office any time.
INSPIRATIONAL BOOK READING There will a reading of “Caught Between Two Devils” on Thursday, October 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall. The author is a Markland Wood local, Mark Creedon. The book illustrates how his mother‐in‐law and father‐in‐law survived internment in a Nazi Work Camp with the help of their Catholic Faith. All are welcome.
BUNDLE SUNDAY THANKS The St. Vincent de Paul Society thanks everyone who donated to last weekend’s Bundle Sunday. The van left our parking lot filled to capacity. They also thank you for your ongoing gifts to the Poor Box. They make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many.
CONFIRMATION ENROLMENT Young people formally registered in our Confirmation Preparation Programme will celebrate the Rite of Enrolment next Sunday, October 20th, at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. They will be invested with an Enrolment Cross to wear as a sign of their commitment. Their first Prep Class will follow in the parish hall.
COUNT ME IN On the weekends of October 19/20 and October 26/27 we will hold the annual Archdiocese of Toronto Mass Attendance Count at all Masses. This annual count helps provide an accurate profile of Mass attendance across the Archdiocese. It also helps with planning for the future and with the allocation of resources.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY COLLECTION Next Sunday, October 20th, is World Mission Sunday. All Catholics are challenged to collaborate in the mission of the Church. A second collection will be taken up to support missionary activity in the northern regions of Canada and world missionary efforts. Envelopes are in your box and at the back of the church.
RECONSTRUCTION REPORT After consultation with the experts we tore up the tile floors in the elevator addition, the chapel and the washroom vestibule and replaced the tiles. This was unexpected and set us back a few days. New cupboards are being constructed for the kitchen and ceiling tiles and light fixtures are being replaced in some areas. Painting is almost complete in the hall and meeting rooms.
HOW CAN I KEEP FROM SINGING? Our Cantors, Anthony & Laurel, hope to form a small chorale to sing with them at the 11:30 Sunday Mass. They are looking for men and women with good voices and a basic understanding of music. Interested? Speak to Anthony or Laurel on Sunday morning or leave your contact information with Monsignor Zimmer.
