WHEN CAN I WATER MY LAWN?Irrigation of established lawns (turf grass) and landscaping (non-turf) is allowed up to twice a week, on assigned days. Any one zone of a property may only be watered once during the allowable day, NOT both in the morning and again in the evening. These restrictions apply to all water sources, except reclaimed water, although reclaimed water customers are encouraged to use only what they need.

Community Activities

Message from the Arbor Greene HOA Improper PARKING of vehicles (both on the driveway and in the street) has become one of the biggest issues in our community. According to the Declaration of Covenants (Deed Restrictions), street parking is prohibited at all times. Also, vehicles must be kept inside garages. Vehicles may only be parked on the driveway if the garage is fully occupied with vehicles. This means, if you have a two-car garage, two vehicles must be parked in the garage before any can be parked on the driveway. If you have a three-car garage, three vehicles must be parked in the garage before any can be parked on the driveway. And, any vehicles parked on the driveway must not block the sidewalk. In addition to complying with the Covenants, properly parking vehicles may also help to deter vehicle theft which has been recently reported by TPD in our area. Failure to comply may result in fines and/or legal action. ********************************************* HOA Website All Arbor Greene HOA documents and forms can be found online at www.greenacreproperties.com. Click the “Resident Login” link at the top right of the page to sign in. It is each homeowner’s responsibility to know what is covered in the Declaration of Covenants (Deed Restrictions) and Design Review Standards.

Message from your Neighborhood Watch:

Hello Arbor Greene (AG) neighbors. As the economy remains weak, criminals continue to look for unsecured places to steal property from, including AG homes, garages, and vehicles. Working together, we can help limit criminal opportunities and so help keep you, your family, and your property more secure. Make security a family affair – Include all family members in activities to keep you safer.

· Emphasize to children the need to keep doors closed/locked especially for strangers. · Remind family members to bring in valuables from your vehicles, lanai, driveway, and yard.

Light it – Criminals hate light at night since they dislike being seen.

· Turn on your home’s front and rear lights at dusk. You can also buy motion sensors or timers which will turn on outdoor lights.

· Buy timers for lights inside your home so lights are on even when you are not at home.

Lock it and alarm it - Lock your doors, windows, and turn on your alarm for your home. · Make sure you lock your vehicles at all times, even if they are parked in the garage; remove all valuables from vehicles. · Keep garage doors closed to discourage criminals from stealing your property and attempting to enter

your home.

Enhance it - Add some additional security measures to your home. · Install chains and deadbolts on your doors, door chimes on your lanai screen doors, motion activated out-

door lights, etc. · Trim hedges and bushes that obscure front and rear entry/exit ways, windows, and lighting. · Leave the radio or television on to give the appearance that you are home.

Report it - Become Tampa Police Department’s (TPD) “eyes and ears” by actively watching who is in your neighborhood.

· Criminals sometimes pose as repairmen, salesmen, or delivery persons, so keep a watchful eye out for these types of perpetrators.

· If you see someone who is not from your community and acting suspiciously, do not confront them, but call the TPD’s Suspicious Activity line (813-231-6130) to report them. The police do not know

everyone who lives in our neighborhoods, but if you call, then they can dispatch a police unit to check out suspicious persons.

· If a crime is about to happen or has occurred against person(s) or property, immediately dial 9-1-1 from a safe distance and do not confront suspects.

Join it - Become better informed by joining the AG NWA email distribution. Joining this group does not obligate you to any NWA associated activities. Send an email with your full name and the sub-community (The Enclave, Estuary, etc.) and receive information from AG NWA leaders and the TPD about local criminal activities and security tips.

Bobcats The name bobcat comes from its "bobbed" tail, as little as 1 to 2in long. Sometimes called the bay lynx or wildcat, the bobcat can be recognized by its tufted, triangular-shaped ears and facial tufts or "sideburns." It has a coat pattern of distinct brown or black spots over the back and legs on a reddish, buff or gray base color. This short tail distinguishes the bobcat from an immature, LONG-tailed panther, for which it might otherwise be mistaken. Males weigh 20 to 30lb and females 15 to 25lb. The bobcat can reach 23in at the shoulder and up to 3ft in length.

Bobcats can live in close proximity to people. Although an important predator ecologically, it seldom preys on domestic animals or game. Occasionally the bobcat will dig holes in yards. Small farm animals, poultry, or household pets can become prey, especially after dark. The below photographs were recently taken in the Landing Park.

Florida Flooding: It Can Happen in a Flash! We’ve all seen those photos in the newspaper or on television: After heavy rain, someone in a canoe or kayak paddles down what is usually the middle of a street. It may look like fun, but it is dangerous. In Florida, flooding occurs frequently, but often the floods are minor. Nonetheless, Floridians must be careful because even minor floods can take a life. Once in a while, Florida can experience major floods that can cause many deaths and loss of property.

What makes a flood happen? Rain, right? Yes, but let’s break the subject down a bit. Flooding is caused by the amount and rate of the rainfall (meteorology) and what happens to the rain after it hits the ground (hydrology). Meteorologists try to predict accurately

when, where and how much rain will fall. The total amount of rain and how fast it falls affect how much water will run off. The more water that runs down into streams or lower areas, the worse the flooding can be.

Flooding- It’s not just for rivers anymore We also see our share of urban flooding. As our state’s population increases, buildings and pavement replace the natural land. This creates more water runoff and can increase flood problems. Urban flooding: streets and ditches and other drainage systems, occurs because of the shear volume of runoff and the storm water drainage systems’ inability to deal with it.

Turn around. Don’t drown! Most deaths due to flooding in the US are due to people driving their cars into flooded areas. It only takes 12 to 16 inches of water to cause a car to float. Moving water only as deep as a car’s hubcaps can be enough to move the car. Did you know that just 6 inches of fast-moving floodwater can knock you off your feet and 2 feet of water can sweep an SUV off a road? Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm-related hazard. Many of the deaths occur in automobiles. Too many people drive around warning barriers. (Kind of like how we walk around and through “wet floor” signs). Flooding can happen in most places where people live…

So Be Careful!!
