Innovation Center Tunisia

BizSpark launched in Tunisia from 2009 and has been driven by the MIC to
reach over 300 startups. BizSpark camps are organized yearly in the
regions with Network Partners. The BizSpark program includes free
software, visibility and support online.
Since 2007 the Annual Startup Program has incubated 70 startups. In 2013
for this first time, the MIC is working with partners to support 20 instead of
10 startups yearly. The goal is to reach 100 startups in the next 3 years.
Build Your Business training is for young entrepreneurs who want to
transform a business idea into a startup. In partnership with Education for
Employment, 300 youth willbe trained and coached in 2013. Many of these
trainings take place at the MIC, most recently with Centre de Jeunes
Dirigeants and the Women Incubator Program.

Souk At-tanmia is an economic development initiative, which aims to
provide Tunisians funding opportunities in the form of grants to
support the creation of innovative projects initiated by the African
Development Bank and its partners
Annual Startup Program -- growing through partnerships
The Startup Factory offers an early stage investment fund to ICT
entrepreneurs. The program goal is to provide young investors with
a starting point, with the target of promoting brilliant ideas and
maximizing the chances of success. The startups selected receive,
direct support for business development, professional network and
relationship support, educational and training programs and
facility-based services .
As a result of these partnerships, the Startup Class of 2013 has doubled from 10 Startups to !!20
Build Your Business• Fostering entrepreneurship skills for early-stage startups at the MIC
• 7 startups have benefitted from the full BYB Curriculum, taught by BYB certified trainers with our partners Education for Employment Tunisia (EFE).
• A curriculum for small enterprises to help promote skills training and create new businesses
• Blended learning approach (facilitator-led classes & practical sessions)
• Modules include: market research, business planning, marketing, accounting, governance and ethical business practices.

Managerial Training & One on One Coaching
On March 18th, the first training session on Management skills was delivered to all of our startups by expert coach Afifa Ghamgui. She uses interactive techniques and role playing to get them actively engaged.
Coaching Sessions
Beginning in March, the new startups began their one on one
coaching sessions. Our coach Afifa Ghamgui, is a professor at
INSAT and certified entrepreneurial coach and has dedicated
every Third Thursday of the month to one on one coaching
followed up by regular Skype and phone calls as well as field visits!
March 18-20: All Microsoft Startups receive access to the BizSpark Program
complimented by an expert 2 day training to demonstrate how to make the
most of the global platform and its offers (listed below)
April 11-12: Visual Studio Is a software development environment (also know as
an Integrated Development Environment or IDE), It's used primarily by Software
Developers to build Software products, websites and Utilities.
The developer teams from our startups learned how to use this important tools
for the development of their software and web solutions.
Office/Sharepoint Training
April 15-16: Visiting Microsoft Certified Trainer for SharePoint, Marko Kokol from Slovenia came to deliver a
special training to the startups. Marko is the R&D Lead of Virtua IT d.o.o., a Slovenian company specialized
in providing SharePoint products and services in the region. He has more than 10 years of experience in
delivering SharePoint services to customers ranging from retail industries to integrating SharePoint based e-
learning solutions for public international organizations..
During his visit, Marko trained a series of trainers from Microsoft Partner Companies Dot. I.T, IP Tech and
Netsystem to deliver a series of 3 subsequent Office/Sharepoint Devcamps for APP development!

April 26-27: As a result of the partnership between Sibley International and the Microsoft Innovation Center in the context of the USAID ICT Competitiveness Project, the MIC invited Karim Morsli to deliver a professional Strategic Marketing training to the startups entitled “Effective Marketing for IT Startups”

Karim is the co-founder and CIO, co-leads the
strategic direction of Rising Data, oversees the
technology and operational infrastructures.
Prior experience includes international field
engineer with Schlumberger, strategic
management with Arthur D. Little. Karim
obtained an MBA from Boston University and a
bachelor degree in Engineering from McGill
University.

May 14-15: Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2012 (TFS) is the collaboration platform at the core of Microsoft's
application lifecycle management (ALM) solution. TFS supports agile development practices, multiple IDEs and platforms
locally or in the cloud and gives you the tools you need to effectively manage software development projects throughout the
IT lifecycle.
This training was destined to the project managers of each startup and equips them with a powerful tool to manage and
coordinate the work of their developers and was executed by Microsoft Partner IP-Tech.
Day 1: Day 2:
June 17-19: In this course, developers learned to develop advanced ASP.NET MVC applications
using .NET Framework 4.5 tools and technologies. The focus was on coding activities that
enhance the performance and scalability of the Web site application.
The 3 day training was executed by Mohamed Romdhani, Microsoft Certified Trainer and
professor at INSAT. He also presented to the developers how to become certified in Microsoft
Technologies.

Consultation Sessions with experts from the entrepreneurial ecosystem
Salima Messaadi is Certified Public Accountant and a member
of the Tunisian CPA Institute with a focus on supporting
young companies. Meriem Belajouza is a lawyer with the
Cabinet Donia Heda Ellouze and a specialist in business law,
due diligence and arbitrage. Finally, Mohamed Ali Arfaoui is a
representative of the “Centre de Soutien de Creation de
l’Entreprise” familiar with all of the various offers and services
for startups including physical incubation and financial
incentives.
After a rich discussion where everyone introduced themselves
and their projects, each startup had 15 minutes to sit
individually with each representative. This “speed dating”
lasted 3 hours and the startups received valuable advice!
This year’s startups expressed the need to meet with relevant actors in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to help them
address certain blockages in their businesses. On June 25th,the MIC invited 3 experts: a business lawyer, an expert
accountant and a representative from APII.
MIC Startups go global…
Amine Chouaib, a aussi brillé lors du sommet international des affaires à Istanbul (IBF). Ce sommet annuel a pour objectif de répondre aux défis du développement continu et de limiter la pauvreté. Durant cette manifestation dont le thème était « Le rôle de l’entreprenariat dans la protection de l’environnement et la modernisation du marché pour un développement continu »,
Dans le cadre du programme 4Afrika de Microsoft, Ahlem Bouchahda, a présenté sa startup « FAMISSIMA » lors du rassemblement « Demo Africa » devant un nombre important d’investisseurs et de journalistes. FAMISSIMA.com est une plateforme en ligne qui met en relation les familles directement avec des experts, et qui vise à fournir des solutions pratiques et complètes afin de faciliter la vie de famille dans ses différentes dimensions.
Le projet DISRUPT CK, representé par Zied Jallouli a quant à lui représenté la Tunisie lors du Web Summit, en Irlande, qui a réuni des spécialistes du domaine des TIC. Ce projet a aussi été choisi pour faire partie du « Programme de développement technologique au moyen orient ». Il s’agit d’un programme unique en son genre, adressé aux Startup de la région. Il est conjointement appuyé par Tunisiana Startup Factory, et de Microsoft.
