SCHOOL NUMBERS 2015SCHOOL NUMBERS 2015
You are asked to please ring or write to us if your child will not be attending Aveley in 2015. It is essential that my numbers are accurate to ensure precise staffing and class lists at the beginning of the school year. It also would be most helpful if you informed us of any children who may be attending in 2015 that are not currently enrolled. The intense building activity in the area indicates that there may be several children not yet
enrolled.
CLASS PLACEMENTS 2015CLASS PLACEMENTS 2015
If you need to bring to my attention any factors that concern your child’s placement in 2015, please write me a formal letter stating this. In the main sound educational reasons will be considered as
a priority.
SCHOOL BLESSINGSCHOOL BLESSING
Thank you to those who attended yesterday, it was such a wonderful feeling to have our school blessed and lovely to see our community’s support. A special thanks to Reverend Rodger Bull - Parish Priest Belmont and Reverend Thom Bull - Parish Priest of Ellenbrook for their wise words during the service. Thanks also to our wonderful Aveley staff Mrs Griffiths, Mr Spencer and Mr Coci who delighted us with either a prayer or
a blessing.
Wise words for the fortnight……
“True wisdom comes to each of us when we realise how little
we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us..” [Socrates]
With best wishes

MUSIC COUNT US INMUSIC COUNT US IN
Today we played our part in the Australia wide Music Count Us In event. We had every child in the school assembled in the undercover area to sing the MCUI song for 2014 which is titled 'Paint You A Song'. The children sounded awesome, all joining in with AUSLAN, which is Australian sign language, which they have been taught in music classes. I was so proud of my 40 performers who led the school on guitars, boomwhackers, percussion and some even led doing AUSLAN. Thanks to all the parents who came along and supported us in the celebration of the Arts! If you've never heard the song, you're missing out on a genuine earworm...ask your child to hum a few bars… Chris Spencer The Arts Specialist
OUR MARKET GARDENOUR MARKET GARDEN
Our market garden is up and running with the successful sale of our first crop of Parsley. The children in Grevillea 6 experienced what it is like to grow, harvest and ultimately sell produce. A col laborat ive approach between the advertising and
process departments; otherwise know as the poster, pack and stack groups, saw us raise a whopping $33.50. A big thankyou to everyone that bought our produce and to my sales team,
Congratulations to the following students who have been recipients of prizes from the Treasure Chest, for every 20 reward
stamps in their Aveley Achievement Passports.
Please note High Achiever Award Badges will be presented at Monday Muster .

OUR ZOO ADVENTURE!OUR ZOO ADVENTURE!
On Thursday, 30 October 2014, Banksia 5’s Pre-primary and Year One’s, and Grevillia 6, 7 and 8’s Year One’s and Two’s, went on an excursion to Perth Zoo. Some started the day being welcomed to the classroom with the ‘Were Going to the Zoo’ song playing. I think the parents enjoyed it just as much as the kids did. We
all then hopped on the bus and headed off to Perth Zoo.
Each class had a different focus for the Zoo and some classes had tasks they needed to complete whilst visiting the Zoo, such as, following directions on a
map and choosing an animal to discover and write about as a
group.
All the children had a wonderful time and we are extremely proud of their excellent b e h a v i o u r throughout the day. We would like to thank all our parent helpers as the day would not having been possible without you all. We would also like to thank all the other parents for
coming along and helping to make their child’s day all that much more enjoyable. The amount of parents we had attending was amazing and rewarding for our
children.
At the end of the day we were all happy to jump
back on the bus to come back home from all our exploring. We even had a couple snuggle up to each other for a sleep on the
way back.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Hello Everyone!
Firstly let me congratulate Natasha Cheung, Helen Baker and all the wonderful volunteers for the fantastic effort that was the sports carnival sausage sizzle, an amazing amount of hard work
and dedication that is appreciated by everyone!
The Thermomix raffle is well under way, and tickets are selling fast! Don’t miss out on your opportunity to purchase a ticket, there are only 250 being sold and they will not last long so check
the newsletter and the Facebook page for details.
Thank you to everyone who everyone who sold chocolates, your efforts are very appreciated. If you have already sent your money back a big thanks, and if you have not got it back please do so
and we thank you in advance.
Our School Banking is still going strong. We have a total of 112 students registered to participate in banking, Helen and Tania would love to see your beautiful smiling faces each Tuesday morning in the undercover area from 8.15AM to 8.45AM. Just a reminder to our parents it isn’t about the amount the children deposit. It is purely about banking regularly and being part of a whole school activity where the students get to receive a reward
that they choose for all their hard work and consistency.
We will be holding a sausage sizzle at the upcoming Open Night on Wednesday, 19 November between 5-7PM to welcome new parents and students who will be joining us next year. If you are available and are willing to help greet these new friends please let us
