APRIL 2019

was about raising awareness about the importanceof protecting our planet and taking necessaryactions. The students made collages and took partin different activities like mimes which wereconducted by the teachers to make our studentsaware of the importance of this day.

International Dance DayInternational Dance Day is a global celebration ofdance, created by the Dance Committee of theInternational Theatre Institute, the main partner forthe performing arts of UNESCO. The event takesplace every year on 29th April, the birth anniversaryof Jean-Georges Noverre, the creator of modernballet. At Kunskapsskolan International we toocelebrated this day. Each grade performed aparticular dance form which included ballet,freestyle, Indian classical, etc. It was indeed joyousto witness such a spectacular event.

The month was dedicated to welcoming ouryoungest Kunskapsskolanites to the school. It feltwonderful to start the session with the cheer in thePre-Nursery and Nursery classes, comprising manyfirst-timers at school, and also to celebrate thepromotion of Kindergarteners to their next step intheir learning journey.Pre-Primary students kicked off their first theme ofthe academic year — 'I am Unique' — through adrama based on the uniqueness of different animals.They described how each animal differed from theother. The giraffe’s height, elephant's strength,fish's fins, turtle's shell sets every animal apart andthe students were excited to identify those featuresin each animal. The day culminated with theKindergarten students reflecting upon theperformance by making an illustration of theirfavourite animal. Nursery and Pre-Nursery studentsshared their thoughts during the reflection session.

Grade 1 Sports Capsule: Grade 1 Sports Capsulestarted with two different sports — basketball andcricket.TennisStudents were taught how to play forehand ‘on therise’ shots, an essential technique in tennis.CricketStudents were taught the skills of playing front-footshots which are most often used to hit a ball that isdelivered at the height between the ankle and thethigh. The students were also taught the art of pacebowling.ShootingStudents were trained on body posture, bodyholding and body alignment which are all veryimportant in rifle shooting.SoccerStudents practiced ‘diamond pass’ drill and learnt touse these strategies in real match situations.

Students learnt different service techniques likelow-serve, high-serve, flick-serve and drive-serve.SquashStudents were trained ball-handling techniques andhand-eye coordination which would help them inany racket-based sports.SwimmingStudents learnt to use floaters in swimming.Floaters aid beginners to keep their bodies afloatand help them to swim for a longer period of time.

Learning Beyond Classroom

Exploring the World of PlantsIn a KED learning space, theme teaches a studenthow subjects are related in the real world aroundthem. The objective is to train students to widentheir perspectives, identify contexts and seepatterns and thereby gain a deeper understanding.As an extension to their classroom learning,students of Grade 3 from KunskapsskolanInternational, Gurgaon visited the Tau Devi Lal

Biodiversity Park, Gurgaon on 11th April, 2019. Thestudents discovered the diverse and abundantworld of plants amidst the concrete jungle ofGurgaon, by visiting the park that is spread acrosstwo acres housing varied species of plants bothendangered and other forms along with a variety ofbirds.As a part of their extended classroom learning,students of Grade 5 at Kunskapsskolan International,Gurgaon visited the National Science Centre in NewDelhi on April 17th, 2019. The students visited theHuman Biology Gallery, where they learnt about thenervous system, skeletal system and muscularsystem. The National Science Centre gave an idealinteractive platform for the students to see, interactand understand these complex systems in a simpleand interesting manner. Various life size models anddisplay boards along with interactive platforms gavethe students a fantastic experience to engage inrespective observation activities to discover,understand and imbibe the concepts about theirsubjects.

ENRICHING LEARNING EXPERIENCES: LIFE SKILLSHome EconomicsContinuing with the self-care module, Grade 1students learnt the correct techniques of handwashing and sanitizing. Face-washing and moisture-application was also taught to the children as a partof daily self-care.They understood why it is important to wash handsbefore and after running certain errands to beprotected from transmitted diseases. They weretaught the correct techniques of coughing andsneezing as a part of learning about infection-control precautions. Grades 2-3/4-5 learnt how tomake Easter eggs was part of the celebrations atour school. Children made a simple slime recipe inclass using easily available ingredients.Grades 6-9: Pushing the students further towardsindependence was the key this year. Understandingthe chemistry behind leavening agents — theirtypes and reactions — was achieved in the week.

Children made traditional Mumbai food, vada pav,using the most basic chemical leavening.

RoboticsStudents of Grade 2 took part in the gear activity, inwhich they learnt about speeding up and speedingdown by using gears of different sizes.Students of Grade 3 built a model of pinballmachine in which a servo-motor is used to spin theball.They leant about the differences between a servomotor and DC motor and their applications in reallife projects.

CarpentryGrades 6-9 students prepared wood pieces toassemble and make a wooden planter. They sandedthe pieces with sand paper and traced animal faceson the walls of the rectangle planter. They wereintroduced to the working of a band saw that isused to cut out curves onto the piece of wood. They

explored many animal faces such as a rabbit, cat,elephant and bear.

Theatre and DramaGrade 1We worked on ‘senses’ with students throughtheatrically-engineered exercises primarily onlistening, observing, touch and speaking.For Grades 2 & 3, the session started with revisionof a few exercises from the previous module whichrequired them to work together as a team andachieve the tasks.Grades 4 & 5 students participated in groupactivities to develop the spirit of teamwork bylistening to each other.The students of Grade 6 to 9 were introduced tostreet play which requires great team work, voice,confidence, and good body language to deliver themessage to the audience.

Stem & Space team conducted a welcome andorientation session for each class. An orientation tothe club was held via a video about space, followedby a presentation highlighting the activities of theclub that are conducted through the year. Everystudent was encouraged to introducehimself/herself and share why they are interestedin space. Dr. Mila Mitra, co-founder of Stem &Space and an ex-NASA scientist, met the studentsand talked about how space research has made animpact on our day to day lives.

Performing ArtGrades 4 & 5 students learnt the techniques of jazzwalk, parallel and turn out passe.

Students of Grades 6 & 9 were introduced to thetechniques of tendu — front and side, attitude,pirouette, passe, and plie. They also learnt fiveballet positions. Later, they practised thesepositions with piano music.

Learning Support HubHOW DOES READING HAPPEN IN THE BRAIN?Grade 3 children are usually expected to be readingto learn, rather than learning to read. But readingremains difficult for up to 30% of students.Reading usually involves the below four steps:1. Our eyes see the words we are trying to read.2. Our brain processes the information delivered byour eyes (visual processing)3. Our brain assigns sounds to the symbols it justprocessed (auditory processing, phonemes)4. Our brain analyzes the combined sounds tocreate meaning.

MAY 2019

Model United Nations (MUN) A three-day ‘ModelUnited Nations’ was held from May 15 to May 17.The aim of the programme was to inculcate in ourstudents the interest in current affairs and globalpolitics. It is designed to help students understand

the UN procedure, its methods of research, identifykey roles and experience a short simulation. Theprogramme helps to develop key communicationand cognitive skills in students by using Model UNconferences and debates as tools. It boosts thestudents’ confidence, improves their publicspeaking skills and their ability to analyse and solveproblems effectively. The module also helps equipteachers to effectively train students for Model UNconference.

‘Njutarbeta: Enjoy Work’Getting an opportunity to be a part of the KEDNetwork global teacher exchange programmebegan with the ‘Njutarbeta: Enjoy Work’.Ms Ruchica Bhagat, our Grade IX Base Group Coachand Team Lead, got the special opportunity toexplore the different possibilities of the programmeand also enhance her professional skills during hervisit to Kunskapsskolan, Borås.Being a delegate at the Borås event provided herwith insights to their Morning Meetings, Base

Group Sessions, Workshops and Night School. TheNight School witnessed footfall of parents andstudents who were new to KED tools. The passionof teachers for the pedagogy was evident duringtheir interaction with students and parents at theNight School. Ms Bhagat observed that the learningprocesses and systems were very similar toKunskapsskolan Internationational, Gurgaon.Kuns Kamp 2019The much-awaited ‘KUNSKAMP’ started from May20th at the Kunskapsskolan International premises.The summer camp was initiated to fruitfully engagestudents during their summer break. They wereable to take part in an array of interesting fun-filledactivities from Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm.The activities were planned keeping in mind theinterest of students of all age groups. The youngerstudents in the age group of 4-6 yearsenthusiastically participated in several fun-filledactivities like a splash pool, kiddy sports, homeeconomics, jumping clay, cognitive activities andmany other similar enthralling ones. Students in the

age group 6-10 years were kept busy through activeparticipation in swimming, soccer, lawn tennis,home economics, art, electronic music making andmany more. While the older children in the agegroup of 10 -15 had a blast as they participated inhands on activities of junk juggad, stem & space,carpentry, self-defense and similar activities. Thechildren were seen thoroughly enjoying theactivities which were specially designed keeping inmind the interest of the children. We look forwardto hosting many more such summer camps in thecoming years.

YOUNG LEARNERSCelebrating Earth Day (22th April) serves as aconscious reminder of how fragile our planet is andhow important it is to protect it. To mark thisnotable global event, the Pre-Primary students ofKunskapsskolan International learnt about thesignificance of protecting nature and ways in whichthey could contribute to environment-protection.They also pledged to share the global responsibility.

To showcase their learning, Pre-Nursery studentscreated a hand-print collage of earth, aptly titled as‘We can change the world with our own two hands’.Nursery grade students worked in groups to puttogether a creative collage using a variety of arttechniques such as tear-and-paste, sponge painting,sand pasting and colouring with crayons.The Kindergartners made posters and campaignedin the school to spread their message. Theyculminated the session by composing a songdedicated to our dear earth. All our students havecollectively pledged to save water and electricity,grow more plants, and to be mindful about keepingour surroundings clean!

Parent Volunteer ProgramAs a part of the ongoing theme 'I am Unique', aParent Volunteer programme was conducted forthe pre-primary students to give them exposure todifferent kinds of occupations and professions. Theidea behind this programme was to lead them to

think for themselves the fascinating question, ‘WhatI want to be when I grow up?’

Tournaments and competitionIn May, our students not only participated invarious competitions, but also made our schoolproud.Kunskapsskolan International’s swimming teamparticipated in the GD Goenka Annual SwimmingChampionship held at GD Goenka World School,Sohna on May 7 & 8, 2019. The students won tjreemedals in individual category & one medal in teamevents.The medal winners were Anika Chendira (U-8Bronze, 25 meters freestyle), Manasvi Sharma (U-10Silver, 50 meters freestyle and Dhaanvi (U-17,Bronze, 50 meters back stroke). The otherparticipants to win Bronze medals in the U-10Mixed Medley (4 x25 meters) event were Aarzoo,Aryaveer, Manasvi and Nevaan.

Kunskapsskolan International’s badminton andtable tennis team participated in the 7th ManavRachna Inter-School Sports Competition held atManav Rachna School, Sector 14, Faridabad.

KED Sports Programme for MayIn May, the PE team of KI trained the students inseveral sports, conducted extra sessions to preparefor several sports events.

TennisStudents learnt the movement and footworkrequired to handle deep ball and deep shots.

CricketStudents were taught the skills of front-footdefense. They were also taught the technique ofmedium pace bowling.

ShootingStudents learnt the art of body precision, naturalpoint of aim and body posture.

SoccerStudents practiced ‘5-A-Side’ & ‘7-A-Side’ defensiveand offensive skills and learnt the uses of thestrategies in real-match situations.

BadmintonStudents practised doubles, mix doubles and singlesgames and learnt how to play a real tournamentmatch.

SquashStudents were trained on ‘serve-rally-play’ whichare very important to start the point in any racketsports.

SwimmingSwimmers learnt long-distance swimming usingvarious strokes that helps them to increaseendurance, speed and strength.

ENRICHING LEARNING EXPERIENCES: LIFE SKILLSHome EconomicsGrade 1 students took part in a session of choppingand cutting. The exercise was not only aboutfocusing and combining gross and fine motor skills,it about learning essential nutrition, hygienerequirement, watermelon song recital and finallyhow to prepare a glass of Vitamin A richwatermelon juice. The theme safety and accidentprevention were part of the other session.

Grades 4- 5 learned about First Aid and accidentprevention techniques. They practiced simple FirstAid techniques used for tackling simple nosebleeding, sprains and strains, heat stroke, burns,cuts, bruises, head injury, broken bones etc.

Grades 6-9 students of these grades made Thukpanoodle soup, a staple of Tibet and northeast India.Children combined various veggies to make anutritious and tasty soup. Options were discussedto make it protein-rich for athletes.

THEATRE AND DRAMAGrade 1 students showed tremendous progress intheir abilities to comprehend and fulfill their taskswith excitement and responsibility. We worked withthe students to help them introspect better.Students of Grade 2 & 3 worked on team-building,imagination and group activities. Grade 4 & 5students worked on leadership, trust building,teamwork and most importantly on improvising aplay. Students in Grades 6 to 9 worked on the streetplay ‘The Golden Hour’ which talks about roadsafety and the ‘Good Samaritan Law’.

CARPENTRYStudents of Grades 6 to 8 prepared wood pieces toassemble a ‘planter’. They sanded the pieces withsand paper and traced animal faces on the sides ofthe rectangle planter

Students wrote stories in details with the help of‘story organisers’ made by them. There were notopic restrictions, which allowed them to be verycreative.

VISUAL ARTSStudents of Grades 2 & 3 explored the concept ofcomposing objects and proportions throughdrawings and collages, based on still life activities.They observed objects and drew them using thetechnique of shape-guided drawing and symmetry.They, then cut out the forms and composed themon a patterned sheet of paper

STEM & SPACEThe younger students made a ‘constellation viewer’in their Stem & Space session. The viewer haddifferent constellations, which the kids learnt howto recognise. This device can be pointed at a lightsource and the kids can look through a tube to seethe pattern of a lit-up constellation.

JULY 2019

June was summer holidays at KunskapsskolanInternational. Our students got a long break withample time to relax, rejuvenate and chargethemselves up for a new term that began in July.

Pre-PrimaryTo create their world of imagination, the studentsof Pre-Primary sections began their secondtheme — Colours in my World. The glee and delightof the little ones knew no bounds during the shortrole play on the life of primary and secondarycolours.

Book WeekA famous author once said, “A book is a dream youhold in your hands”. So, our Pre-Primary teachers’team organized a ‘Book Week’ with the purpose ofputting beautiful dreams into the minds of ouryoung learners.

ICT SkillsAlmost all creativity involves some purposeful play,which is important for the development ofcreativity, empathy and logical thinking. Our Grade2 students learnt about keyboard keys in a fun-filledway.

Goonj WorkshopAs we progressed with our theme ‘My Needs’, wemade the students aware of those whose needsmay be the same as ours but they aren’t asprivileged. To imbibe the feeling of gratitude andempathy, and to share with our children the joy ofgiving we invited the team of ‘Goonj — A voice, aneffort’. ‘Goonj’ is an NGO that started in 1999,focusing their efforts towards bridging the gapbetween those who have extra and those who donot have sufficient.

To provide our students with a Public Speakingplatform, we participated in the inter-school debatecompetition organized by ‘BEHES’, which conductsdebates across all cities in India. Students acrossGrades 6 to 9 attended an orientation session atKunskapsskolan International to understand thecriteria for participation and skills required toenhance their oratory skills.

Gender Equality SensitisationGender is a socio-cultural term referring to sociallydefined roles and behaviours assigned to ‘males’and ‘females’ in a given society. In its social,historical and cultural aspects, gender is a functionof the power relations between men and womenwhere men are considered superior to women.Students of Grade 7 created a magazine on ‘GenderInequality in the 21st century’. They included casestudies of women who have contributed to bringingabout a change in society — Dr. Maya Angelou,Malala Yousafzai, Ava DuVernay, to name a few.Students shared their opinion, that despite

innumerable pushes for gender equality in oursociety, patterns of old-fashioned domestic dutiesand housework have been found to change onlyslightly.

CompetitionsOur boys made us proud by winning three Bronzemedals in the Manav Rachna Inter-school SwimmingMeet held on 26th July.Rakshit Rai won the Bronze for breast stroke in theU-10 category, while in the U-12 Medley ourboys — Rakshit Rai, Haruto Yoshida, Shlok Aggarwaland Siddhant Agnani — secured the Bronze.Bronze medals were also won by our champions inthe U-16 category of Medley Race by AryaveerKatoch, Adish Singh Khinda, Ayush Kaushik andTetsutaro Utamaru. We look forward to witnessmany such moments of pride for our school.Kunskapsskolan International hosted the inter-house swimming competition on 19th July. Studentsfrom Grade 1 to 9 participated in the events, whichwere:

Grade 1 — 25M Freestyle;Grades 2 & 3 — Freestyle;Grades 4 & 5 — Freestyle, Backstroke and Mix Relay;Grades 6 to 9 — Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststrokeand Mix Relay.This was the first inter-house event in the 2019-20academic session.

LIFE SKILLS SPORTS GRADES 2 TO 9

ShootingStudents in Grades 4-5 learnt about the stance instanding position. The shooters were taught how totake stance in a well-balanced position beforemaking aim. Holding the rifle system with leastamount of tension in the shooter’s muscular systemis the optimal requirement for good vision andbalance. The students got a training on that as well.

Grades 6-8The students learnt how to perfect their headposition while taking a shot. The head has to be

placed with the cheek bone against the butt andneck in a relaxed way. Eyes have to look straightthrough the rear sight aperture. Also, the feetshould be positioned in such a way that theyprovide maximum stability. The students trained onall these aspect of shooting.

CRICKETStudents in Grades 2 to 9 learnt the techniques offast bowling. They got training on gripping the ball,run-up, body movements, footwork, armmovement and follow-through.

TABLE TENNISStudents in Grades 4 & 5 learnt forehand andbackhand down-the-line counter-rally and drill.Sudents in Grades 6 to 9 learnt forehand andbackhand push rally of 50+ shots with cut and loosevariations.

Grades 2 & 3 students learnt high-lob service, whichhelps them get more control over their service.Players in Grades 4 to 9 got training on the mostpowerful attack in badminton — forehand smash.

SwimmingStudents in Grades 2 to 9 went through an intensivetraining regime to prepare for the inter-houseswimming competition. They mastered allswimming styles — freestyle, backstroke andbreaststroke.

TENNISGrades 2 & 3 students trained on the footwork forforehand wide-ball drive.Grades 4 & 5 practiced forehand running shots fromwide angle.Grades 6 to 9 students enhanced their skills inmaking forehand cross court and down the line onwide ball shots.

Students in Grades 2 – 9 concentrated on matchplay and learnt tactical skills to handle real matchsituation.

My Neighbourhood Theme VisitTo continue their experiential learning, Grade 1 and2 students were taken on a ‘Know YourNeighbourhood’ themed visit to the VatikaCommercial Complex in Gurgaon.Grade 1 students were especially thrilled to knowall about the post office. In today’s age and timewhen mobiles and emails are the chosen means ofcommunication, they found it extremely interestingto learn how the postal system worksGrade 2 students visited the ‘Needs’ hypermarket.They were happily looking around at all the goodiesthat they could possibly pick up on their next visitwith their parents. The use of a trolley and theprocess of making electronic payments at the cashcounter were like entering a new world for them.

The petrol pump on the way to the ATM machines,were all included in their ‘observation list’ duringthe fun-filled learning trip

Microsoft WorkshopWorkshops are good platforms for familiarisingteachers with new information and tools. Keepingthat in mind, two teachers from KI attended aworkshop at Microsoft, to get an insight into thevarious online tools available to enhance classroomteaching and learning.The training started with an introduction to theMicrosoft Innovative Educators programme. Ms.Simrit Kaur and Ms. Vidhi Khurana became our twoMicrosoft Innovative Educators. They got hands-ontraining on the advanced features of Office 365 andseveral artificial intelligence (AI) teaching tools.Overall, it was a great learning experience for both.

Stem & Space Activities: Students continued theirquest to explore ‘light and spectra’ through severalactivities. The juniors (Grades 2 & 3) made aNewton’s Wheel. Seven colours were painted onthe wheel. When the wheel was spun at a fastspeed, the colours merged and looked white!The middle-level batch (Grades 4 & 5) madespectroscopes. They held it up against the light toshow white light split into seven different colours.Through workstation activities, the senior group(Grades 6 to 9) gained knowledge on howastronomical objects have their own spectrumwhich is like a fingerprint.

Visual ArtsStudents in Grades 2 and 3 completed the first layerof painting their canvases. They practiced skills suchas colour-mixing and understanding tones, tints andshades.

Carpentry

Students painted the soap holders they made intheir previous carpentry sessions using recycledpieces of wood. They also coated the soap holderswith varnish to prevent them from damage causedby water and moisture.

Home EconomicsGrade 1: Their session started withunderstanding/interpreting and knowing goodmanners and ‘golden words’ related to beingcourteous and respectful to each other. They alsolearnt how to make an Oreo shake.

Robotics

Students of Grade 2 performed the activity ‘graband steer’ based on the theme of ‘MovingMaterials’, in which they built and programmed agrabber and steer robot that is motorized to grab anobject and place it. Students of Grade 3 performedthe activity ‘Spy Robot’, which had a motion sensor

on it to detect any motion in front of it and createan alarm sound while moving the arms.

Life skills sessions for Pre PrimaryBe Smart Be Safe: Become the boss of your body…Teaching children about ‘body safety’ from a veryyoung age helps them become confident,empowered and comfortable in taking care ofthemselves. Helping a child understand thedifferent types of touches and the kind of feelingsthese touches evoke in them, helps them takeownership of their bodies and become empoweredin taking care of themselves.Students in Nursery and KG sections had a sessionon ‘Understanding Safe and Unsafe Touch’. Thesession focused on developing awareness andunderstanding about how to• Distinguish a safe touch from an unsafe touch.• Identifying the no touch zones in their bodies.• Approaching and communicating with safe adultsabout any unpleasant experience.

STEM AND SPACEThe launch of Chandrayaan-2, which was originallyscheduled for 15th July 2010 and was called off dueto a technical snag, was successfully launched on22nd July this year from the Satish Dhawan SpaceCentre at Sriharikota in Nellore district of AndhraPradesh. A successful landing would have madeIndia the fourth country to achieve the feat afterthe United States, Russia and China.Taking the opportunity of that proud moment,Kunskapsskolan International organized a quiz onChandrayaan on 14th August for the students of

Pet WeekThe Pre-Primary section celebrated the ‘Pet Week’in which students having pets at home along withtheir parents volunteered to bring them to meettheir peers. They talked about how they take careof the animals, their eating habits, their visit to thevet, and how special and loved they are. The weekwas well spent with loving dogs and fish in ourclassrooms and the level of excitement among thestudents was beyond imagination. These fuzzy andsweet beings definitely left a huge impact on thestudents’ minds as well as in their hearts. Theypledged to take care and be mindful of all animalsaround us.

Theme Visit to Nehru PlanetariumAn educational trip to Nehru Planetarium wasorganized for Pre-Primary students. This trip was

Nutrition WeekNutrition week was celebrated to encouragehealthy choices and eating practices amongststudents. They got an opportunity to interact withparent volunteers who talked about the importanceof eating healthy and trying new things. As aculmination for the Nutrition Week, a live counterwas set up with a theme — ‘Go further with food’,where some of the members of our parentcommunity volunteered to make healthy anddelicious food items for the students.

Learning Beyond ClassroomAs a part of their curriculum, Grade 6 students hadlearnt about ‘Vermi-composting’. To understand itbetter as to how it is done, they were taken to afarm house where vermicomposting was beingdone. It was a trip full of excitement and learning.The children saw as to how the worms aided inpreparation of the vermicompost.

Thecelebrations highlighted the nobility of the teachingprofession and also appreciated the immensecontributions of our teachers towards thedevelopment of our students and the society atlarge.

Hindi Diwas : India is a unique land of a wide varietyof cultures and languages, probably the mostdiverse in the world. In spite of all this, Hindi is themost spoken language of our country. After Indiagained Independence, following several rounds of

KG Swimming Presentation

Swimming is one of the most popular of all sportsthat Kunskapsskolan International students takepart in to showcase their strength, flexibility andphysical fitness. Our Kindergartners had theirSwimming Presentation on 19th September, inwhich they performed a series of basic skills such askicking while sitting and lying down, jumping andfreestyle swimming, which they had learnt duringtheir regular sessions at school. Traffic Training Workshop

Students of Grades 1 and 2 attended an interactivetraffic safety workshop as a part of their theme goalon safety on roads. There were officials from bothpolice and traffic department to explain studentsabout importance of following traffic rules and

about their individual roles to ensure safety ofpeople while travelling on roads. They also talkedabout how various road signs and traffic symbolswhich help people while driving or walking on roads.At the end of the session all the studentsinquisitively asked many questions and enjoyedtalking to them. Few students were so excited tosee these officers in uniform that they took theirautographs and stars from them as memories.

Gargoti Mineral Museum

Grade 4 students went on a theme visit to GargotiMineral Museum at New Delhi to enhance theirknowledge about rocks and minerals.

They had an astonishing visual experience of theexclusive exhibits of various origins of rocks andcrystals from all over India, overseas and universalbodies like moon and Mars along with meteoritesplates, some of which were more than 65-plusmillion years old. They learnt about different typesof rocks and how are they formed naturally in

In the first week of September, our students learntabout ‘Moon Phases’ and what creates the moonphases. Senior students created a moon phasecalendar by putting together different components.They also learnt about the different phases of themoon.

Chandrayaan 2 Workshop

Stem & Space conducted an exciting Chandrayaan 2workshop for more than 170 students over twodays. The students learnt all about the missionthrough different activities. They explored a giantmoon map to find out about its features. They also

saw the demonstration of a working rover. Thejunior students learnt about the components of themission with the help of puzzles created on thedifferent parts the orbiter, lander and rover. Theyalso played a game by moving on a flex that helpedthem understand the orbit of Chandrayaan 2around earth and then around moon. The olderstudents made their own replicas of the mission!

CARPENTRY In the carpentry workshop, thestudents learned basic wood-working skills requiredto make simple products of home use. They learnedthe skills of sanding and smoothing wood,hammering nails in the wood, names and functionsof the tools and equipment. They made a widerange of products such as notebooks and magazineholders, coasters, key chain ring charms, keysholders, and planters with wood. In the process,they observed the characteristics and qualities ofdifferent types of wood such as plywood, pine woodand medium density board.

PERFORMING ART

The session started with warm-up techniques,followed by contemporary movements to improvetheir flexibility and grace. They also attempted toperform the cartwheel, the one-arm cartwheel andthe split jump.

THEATRE AND DRAMA

Ushering in a unique improvisation, we adopted thetechnique of converting spectators into actors. Thestudents were trained to be spontaneous in theirperformance by including the spot points in theirperformances. The technique was in line withAugusto Boal’s public theatre, where theperformers try to include spectators in their act.This helped the students in being spontaneous andgiving any turn to the story with the help of all the

techniques and exercises they have learnt in thesessions.

ROBOTICS

Grade 2 students took part in several activitiesbased on the ‘Ocean’ theme, in which they built andprogrammed a model of a sea cleaner and a fishrobot motorized to move with the help of the flexmechanism. Students in Grade 3 took part inactivities like making of a ‘Turn Robot’ that workswith the turn concept using bevel gears and oneside lock and reel mechanism which can be used towind something on to a reel by turning like Ropes inRescue Missions.

HOME ECONOMICS

Grade 2-3/4-5/6-9: Communication using aids wascovered by this group. They were assigned topicsfrom food science, accident prevention, first aid tobe prepared by using communication aids like PPT,

charts, poster, flash cards etc. These groups alsoprepared corn cutlets, mango smoothie, mix veggiesandwiches and Vol au vents.

IMADEATION HOUR

During the Imadeation hour, students from Grades4 to 9 created their own characters. Later, theycreated scenes using dialogues written by them. Itfelt awesome to watch their journey from ideatingtheir story to conceptualizing their characters,writing dialogues and then finally preparing thePlotagon videos.

Learning to Learn – parenting workshop on schoolreadiness

Kunskapsskolan International hosted a fun-filledevent, ‘Baby’s day Out’, on 14th September. Keepingin mind the holistic development of the child andthe current trends in the field of early childhoodeducation, our learning support hub organised a

parenting workshop on ‘school readiness’ to helpthem explore what it actually means. Apart fromacademics, it actually refers to a much broaderrange of skills including self-care (independenttoileting and opening bags/water bottles, eating),attention and concentration, physical skills (e.g.having the endurance to sit upright for an entireschool day), emotional regulation, language skills,play skills and social skills. Participants were givendemonstrations through hands-on activities whichcan be easily used at home to enhance school-readiness skills.

Mental Health Day Celebrations

World Mental Health Day is celebrated throughoutthe world on 10th October. Mental health includesour emotional, psychological, and social well-being.It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps todetermine how we handle stress, relate to others,and make choices. It is important at every stage oflife, from childhood to adolescence, and throughadulthood. We too celebrated the Day at our school.

HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS

Halloween, also known as All Saints' Eve, iscelebrated across the world on 31st October and is a

Diwali

Diwali, the festival of lights, was celebrated atKunskapsskolan International on 25th October. Ouryoung learners, who came to school in their besttraditional attire, had a fun-filled day ofcelebrations. The entire school wore a festive look.It was decorated with traditional diyas, brightlanterns and colourful rangoli.

Model United Nations 2019

Kunskapsskolan International truly believes in thesaying of Bobby Knight: “The key is not the will towin… everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to

win that is important.” We started our preparationsfor the Model United Nations (MUN) from themonth of May… The preparation to win!!

The closing ceremony of the three-day AIMUN 2019was a proud moment for KunskapsskolanInternational. Our students started their journeyinto the world of MUN with AIMUN at AmityUniversity, Noida. Our students not only played therole of delegates to their assigned countries,showcasing the arts of diplomacy, internationalaffairs, solving real world issues with the policiesand perspectives of their assigned country but alsomanaged to win the awards in their first MUN.

Our students also participated in an interestingevent called BEHES. As the name suggests, BEHESaims at reinforcing the oratory and debatingabilities of children. That helps them to improvetheir skills in effective communication. Thecompetition was an inter-school event spread overtwo days, in which 230-odd students of 13 schools

ENRICHING LEARNING EXPERIENCES: LIFE SKILLS

STEM & SPACE

In October, students across all age groups werebusy preparing their presentations. Each of themhad been allocated an activity already taught duringan earlier session. The student had to demonstrateand describe it to the parents who visited theschool.

In addition to this, they also took part in a session-learning about galaxies. The younger studentscreated galaxy art and labelled the parts of a galaxyincluding spiral arms, core, Orion arm etc. Seniorstudents learnt about different types of galaxiessuch as spiral, elliptical etc. They were given a largenumber of galaxy images which they had to sortaccording to their types.

VISUAL ARTS

The students revised and reflected (answeringquestions about the basic knowledge of colours) onwhat they had learned during the commencementof their new assignment, ‘Tree’. They learned howto draw a tree including the techniques to draw bigand small branches and paint the trunk step-by-step.They learned how to mix paints and createappropriate shades to colour a tree. The studentsalso had preparation and rehearsal sessions for thepresentation and review/feedback on each oneindividually.

CARPENTRY

Students of Grades 4 to 8 created a set of coasters,exploring the skills of measurement, sanding,assembling and pyrography on wood. They usedpre-cut pieces of wood and plywood, measuredthem and sanded to achieve smooth corners, facesand edges of the wooden piece. Post the sanding,

they pyrographed a graphic onto the wood toornament it.

ROBOTICS

Students of Grades 2 and 3 hosted the Roboticspresentation, based on real life situation-basedthemes. Grade 2 students showcased their modelsbased on Space Rover, Floodgate, Sea Cleaner andFish Fins. Grade 3 students presented their modelson Rescue Mission and Earthquake Simulator.

IMADEATION HOUR

During the Imadeation hour, students in Grades 4and 5 completed making their animation videos onPlotagon, keeping their social message and story infocus. Students of Grade 6-9, too, made their ownvideos. It has been great watching their journeyfrom ideating their story, to conceptualising theircharacters, writing dialogues and then finallypreparing the Plotagon videos.

HOME ECONOMICS

Grades 2-3: Along with preparing for theirpresentations, the students learnt recipes like corncutlets, mango smoothie, chilli cheese toasts andsuji toasts.

Grades 4-5: The students completed theirpresentations. They also made falafels and yoghurtsauce.

Grades 6-9: The students put together PowerPointpresentations on various food chemistry-relatedtopics along with learning and comprehending softskills necessary for making a presentation. They alsomade falafels and Mediterranean yoghurt sauce togo with them.

THEATRE AND DRAMA

Grade 2&3: Both groups of students preparedseparate one act plays. The Tuesday batch workedon the story of ‘A Magical Sword’ which eventually

helps in stopping the war between two kingdomsand the Thursday batch picked up a more sensitivetopic of ‘Good Touch & Bad Touch’. Both the teamsused their improvisational skills to build-up theperformance with all the theatrical nuances. Theyalso explained the morals of the stories to theaudience.

Grade 4&5: The students successfully made theirpresentation, created with their team work fromthe self-devised topics, in front of their parents on1st October. Following this, the students startedplay- and story-readings and also gained the abilityto decide on the play they would perform withproper music, costume, props and make-up.

The students worked on the street play they hadperformed. During the process, they read about theorigin, history, importance and usage of street plays.Collective effort, timing, actor-co actor chemistryand human formations were emphasized upon.

Annual School Camp

As the D-day for their sojourn to the wilderness ofthe Himalayan foothills came closer, the studentscould be seen brimming with unbridled excitement.The countdown had begun in their minds… and theonly buzz on the campus was of the trip to theJungle Camp at Ayarbatta in Nainital.

The three-day trip to savour the pristine, untouchedbeauty of the jungles and be free in the lap ofnature began on 5th November. The first batch toventure out was students of Classes 4-9. Theirmates in Classes 2-3 joined a day later. The itinerarywas meticulously planned by the KusnkapsskolanInternational School management, in collaborationwith Rocksport, Gurgaon.

In the wee hours of 5th November, the studentsgathered to assemble at Vatika Professional Pointon Golf Course Extension Road. Rucksacks burstingwith essentials and more, it was most adorable tosee the grown-up look on the faces of the childrensans their parents.

Three super luxury buses set off for the journey at4.30 am with a cacophony of revelry. We reached at1.30 pm. A sumptuous piping hot lunch was served.The children had a hearty meal to partake incamping activities.

The faculty and staff ofKunskapsskolan International, too, took thisopportunity to show how much they adore theinnocence, energy and happiness the childrenexude in our lives. The staff went to the nearbyChildcare Home to distribute popcorn and sweets tothe resident children. The glee in their eyes was asight to behold. Overall, it was a day filled withcontentment for the children as well as teachers.

Commemorating the 550th birth anniversary ofGuru Nanak Dev-ji and his teachings of oneness andharmony, a ‘langar’ was organised in the school topromote equality and brotherhood among thestudents. Grade 4 students served a meal as ‘seva’,which was a way of inculcating the value ofcommunity service in them. Students all acrossgrades enjoyed eating in a devotional and blissfulatmosphere of the campus.

By now we had become familiar with Model UnitedNations, also known as MUN, which is aneducational simulation for students to learn aboutdiplomacy, international relations, and the UnitedNations.

Problems that take place half-way around the globeimpact our country, our communities and our lives.Students learn about these issues as they preparefor MUN conferences, with representatives fromcountries other than their own, and present

KEDMUN 2019 was the second opportunity for theyoung future leaders of KunskapsskolanInternational students. This time nine of ourstudents participated in several committees.

After two days of deliberations on diplomacy andinternational relations, our student TamannaChandak of Grade 8 won the ‘High Commendation’in WHA as a delegate of Papua New Guinea.

Art Workshop

Art is a great tool that enables kids to expressthemselves. Keeping in mind the theme ‘Shapes andPatterns’, combined group workshops were held forNursery and Kindergarten toddlers. Our Nurserychamps were engaged in Warli Art and KG had agala time creating patterns in pictures ofmonuments provided to them.

Walk the Pattern

As a part of the current theme ‘Shapes andPatterns’, the students made different lines —straight, curvy and basic shapes on the floors. OurPre-nursery toddlers had an enriching experiencewhile walking on the lines, followed by hopping onthe circles, square and triangles.

Learning Beyond Classroom

Theme visit to Qutub Minar: With beautifullylandscaped gardens, lush green lawns and amajestic tower at the centre, the Qutub Minarwelcomed us as we walked into its sprawlingpremises.

Our Kindergarteners, got an opportunity to explorethe Qutub Minar — the work on the structure, thehoneycomb patterns reminiscent of Rajputanaarchitecture, and more. It was a delightful andenriching experience for the curious minds.

Stem & Space Club conducted a fun quiz to give thestudents an opportunity to revise all the topics thathave already been taught. The classes were dividedinto separate teams. The quiz was held in severalrounds with questions on knowledge of generalastronomy and quick thinking, including a rapid fireround, spot the constellation, which planet is it(based on clues), etc.

Visuals Art

Our students completed their green tree paintingwith poster colours and revised all the techniques,step by step. They started a new composition on abigger A3 size paper which included drawing thetree they had already learnt and some simplehuman figures.

CARPENTRY

Students of Grades 4 to 9 started a new project —creating animal-shaped shelves. They started usingpower tools under supervision. They wereinstructed to plane wood planks using a powerplaner and prepare them for making shelves.

PERFORMING ART

The session started with a video showcasing‘relativity’ of dance forms. Choreography of lyricaljazz routine with musical experimentation was alsoconducted.

All the groups made veggie and semolina cutlets.The cutlets were filled with the goodness of cornand capsicum, with choicest flavours added to them.

ROBOTICS

Students of Grades 2 and 3 learned about theimportance of sequential programming on theirworking models with Lego WeDo. They trieddifferent hit and trial programs to move their modellike Space Rover and observed the differencebetween the same programs with differentsequences.

Theatre and Drama

The students started working on the concept ofActor and Space. The empty space plays a veryimportant role in the performance and the act ofestablishing that space is very important. The

Nobel Week

At Kunskapsskolan International, our studentscelebrated the ‘Nobel Week’ (December 16-26) tocommemorate the Nobel Prize Day celebratedworldwide on 10th December, through a variety ofactivities in English, Hindi, Social Science and Art.

Annual Athletics Meet

At Kunskapsskolan International, fitness is a part oflife: this self-created adage is entrenched in oureveryday plan and was showcased at the 4th AnnualAthletic Meet. The students sounded a clarion callto one and all to make a conscious effort to developthe zeal for achieving accolades in sports byaccepting challenges and overcoming mentalobstacles.

The Smart Walk Past saw participating Grades II toIX walk proudly with their house flags in fourcolumns, each representing the four houses namelyOrion, Pegasus, Cygnus and Phoenix.

Bands and the military are synonymous with eachother. Armed forces all over the world have deep-rooted martial music traditions. St. Lucia Day Celebrations

Keeping in line with the KED philosophy of inclusiveand holistic education, the introduction of St Lucia’sDay, the hither-to-fore unknown festival in India —gave the children a new insight into thisinternational festival. St Lucia’s Day celebrationswere hosted by Grade 5 students, by the concurrentplaying of music in the school and the childrendoing the Lucia walk, on 13th December. During the culmination, the Pre-Nursery munchkinstook part in an activity where they used their fivesenses — eyes, nose, ears, tongue and skin — todescribe an apple. Nursery students were taken through the lifejourney of William Ramsay through a presentationand role play. They explored the differencebetween the three forms of nature — solid, liquidand gas. The check-up wasconducted on campus under the supervision ofmedical experts: Smile for Generations (Dental),Centre for Sight (Eye), and the school medicalofficer for vital parameters such as height andweight.

Both camps were enthusiastically participated bystudents, staff and teachers of KunskapsskolanInternational.

PRE-PRIMARY SCHOOL

As a part of previous theme ‘Changes’, theenthusiastic students of Pre-Primary spent awondrous morning exploring the different ways inwhich changes occur in their everyday surroundings.Through a play on the hen’s lifecycle, they viewed

Shooting: Students learnt about shot analysis andways breathing techniques through 10-metreshooting practice.

Cricket: Players were taught single-wicket bowlingand sweep shot of spinning balls

Squash: Students learnt the basic drives — forehandand backhand. They were also taught straight-to-corner serve.

Lawn tennis: Drills conducted on forehand short balland direct and indirect smash shots. Students inGrades 6 to 9 learnt flat, slice and topspin serves.

Badminton: The students were introduced to thetwo types of the game — attacking and defensive.

ENRICHING LEARNING EXPERIENCES: LIFESKILLS

Stem and Space — Light and spectroscopy: In thissession, junior batch students got to knowinteresting facts about light, its components and theproperties of reflection and refraction. Theyunderstood the working of a periscope and madeone on their own. They were explained theproperties of light after which they conducted anexperiment to see the components of white lightusing a prism. They also got to know about theworking of a periscope and made one on their own.

The senior students understood the concept ofspectroscopy and observed different types of lightspectrums created by different light sources. Theyalso did an activity to find the elements present in astar using spectroscopy.

Visual Arts: The students continued painting theirtrees. They almost finished colouring the humandrawings and the background with oil pastels.

Carpentry- To make animal-cutout shelves, thestudents drew animal forms on a wooden plank.They sanded pieces of plywood which were laterassembled as shelves on the animal cutouts.

Home Economics - Grade 1 students learnt andpracticed good manners through role play. Small yetimportant behaviours including respecting eachother’s culture, privacy, basic etiquette andreverence of people around them were taught tothe students.

Students in Grades 2 to 5 assembled a WelcomeBack Black Forest dessert. The culinary skillsinvolved cutting, chopping using a palette knife forspreading, whipping the cream to stiff peak stage

and a decorative edge to put together a wonderfuland decadent pastry smothered in multiple layers ofchocolate and whipped cream with a generoussprinkle of cocoa powder.

Grades 6-9 students made besan paratha andmethi-aloo using both dried and fresh methi.Activities included ingredient selection, plucking offresh methi leaves and putting together a veggie-with-potato combination.

ROBOTICS: Grade 1 students did the activity named,Lego Ice Hockey Player. The handle on the back ofthe ice hockey player is turned to make sure theconnected gears move and the arm swings freely tohit the pulley wheel placed as a puck. By doing so,they got to know about gear movements in a fun-filled way.

Grade 2 students created and programmed aproject named, Dolphin. They explored how aquaticanimals move in water and how they use theirsenses to receive different types of information.

Grade 3 students did the project, Wildlife CrossingBridge. In this project, they explored the effect ofroad construction on animals and plants andthought of ways to reduce its impact. They createdand programmed a device like a movable bridge toallow animals to cross hazardous areas.

Imadeation Students of Grade 5-9 worked onwriting the text for the broadcast.

Theatre and Drama Students from Grades 2 to 9worked on a play in the Proscenium format toexecute what they had learned as a performer.They used music, costume and accessories topresent the story to the audiences. The play wasself-devised by the students through improvisationand team work.

Performing Arts

Grade 2-3 students were taught how to makescatter formation for a dance performance. FUNKJAZZ routine started with students.

Learning Support Hub

The life skill sessions focused on helping studentsunderstand the difference between anger andaggression. Stories, role plays and discussionshelped them in understanding that anger is a validemotion. However, we need to learn to express it ina healthy and constructive manner

The Learning Support Hub in their endeavor tocreate anger-free zones in the school, conducted aninteractive and simulating session for our supportstaff (conductors, drivers and female support staff)of Kunskapsskolan International, to sensitise and

EVENTS OF THE MONTH

Though the beginning of February witnessed bittercold in the mornings, it did not deter ourenthusiastic students from taking part in theJuniorun — India’s largest multi-city running eventfor children that has been successful in NCR andJaipur — hosted by Kunskapsskolan International atits premises on 8th February. It was part of the megaSports Kirnival and our students, along with manyother contestants, eagerly participated in the megaevent.

The day unfolded with participants and revelersmaking a promise to be healthy in body, mind and

spirit. The pipe band from the Five First GorkhaRifles played the welcome tune to instill pride in theparticipants and motivate them to accomplish thebest in their respective fields.

Rock Sport Fusion Fit kept the audience enthralledwith their engaging activities.

The winners of the Juniorun received gift hampersand vouchers from Sports Station and 24Sevenawarded by Mr. Siddharth Choudhary, the racedirector and founder.

The event received a rapturous applause fromparents who expressed their heartfelt gratitude forthe Head of School Ms. Rupa Chauhan for a day wellspent in wholesome wellness.

Cow Shed Visit

The students visited a cow shed in their schoolneighbourhood to have a closer look at the life

Home Made Paper Making

As part of Kunskapsskolan International’scontinuous endeavour to inculcate environmentalvalues into our young ones, the students were givenan opportunity to do their bit for Mother Earth.

Keeping in mind the sub-strand on the 3Rs —Reduce, Reuse and Recycle — a handmade paper-making workshop was organised for the Pre-Primary kids. The little ones used waste paper,shredded into bits, and blended it into pulp.

Visit to Lohagarh

In an effort to connect our children with the outsideworld by taking a break from the bustling urban lifeand rejuvenate with a serene rural experience, ouryoung little adventurers visited the Lohagarh Farms.

Plant Life Cycle

Our Nursery and Pre-Nursery champs were involvedin a ‘Plant the Seed’ activity to understand the lifecycle of a plant.

Salad Making

Taking forward their Life Skills-Home Economicsendeavour, the students enjoyed preparing theirfavourite wheat pasta filled with delicious add-onssuch as bell pepper, tomato, strawberries,

Solar Power Plant Visit

Our Kindergarten students visited a domestic solarpower plant to learn about renewable and non-renewable sources of energy.

Tie and Dye

Pre-Primary students got an opportunity to see theprocess of transformation of cotton into everydayclothes. They were amazed to find out that rawcotton comes from a plant and how after spinning itturns into yarn which is used to make cloth. Forthem it was wonderful to note the life cycle of a T-shirt which includes several transformations —blend, card, comb, pull, stretch, twist, dye, blendand knit.

Theymade their own sundial models and learnt to telltime by using it.

Parachutes and flight: Students learnt about theparachute’s working principles. They understoodthe need of parachutes in spaceflights and theirusage in space shuttles. They also made their ownparachutes

Grade 2 students did a project on ‘Grabber’ withmotion sensor and ‘Gorilla’ with walk mechanism.

Grade 3 students worked on theme gears andautomobiles. They created and programmed adevice like a differential gear box. By doing so, theyexplored how the wheels of a car move at differentspeeds while making a turn.

Grade 2&3: After practicing improvisation,confidence, body language, breathing exercises andvarious other theatrically-engineered exercises, thestudents began working as a team. They were beingprovided with characters to learn their dialoguesand perform to deliver a message as a team.

They worked on a play called ‘Najanu Ke Rang’which was originally written by Nikolai NikolaevichNosov, a Soviet children’s literature writer andauthor of a number of humorous short stories.

Grade 4&5: Theatre students of Grades 4 & 5 choseto work on ‘Andher Nagri Chopat Raja, Take SerBhaji Take Ser Khaja’ from their curriculum. Theplay was written by Bhartendu Harishchandra,known as the father of modern Hindi literature aswell as Hindi theatre.

Grade 6 to 9: Theatre students of Grades 4 & 5chose to work on the play ‘Shastra Dekho Shastra’,written by Bharat Ratna Bhargava, a renownedtheatre professional with over 40 years of teaching

and writing experience in multiple fields of theatre,including literature and broadcasting.

Math Enrichment Visit: KunskapsskolanInternational organised a math enrichment visit tothe Qutub Minar for the students of Grades 6 and 7on 4th February. The students were amazed to seethe Qutub Minar, a UNESCO world heritage site inDelhi. As students walked along the complex, theshadow of the tall minaret with a great history tookthem into the past. The students couldn’t concealtheir curiosity and asked many questions as theylearned about the history and architecture of thebreath-taking monument. They were equallyfascinated to see the ‘Iron Pillar’, erected within thecomplex bearing inscriptions in various languages.

For some, mathematics comes naturally, but forothers, it is a nightmare. Even if the child doesn’texcel in mathematics, there are ways to ensure thattheir financial literacy develops strongly with easyand fun-filled money lessons. At KunskapsskolanInternational, this purpose was fulfilled with 5thGraders’ visit to a nearby bank. It was aimed atacquiring the basics of monetary value andunderstanding different denominations of banknotes.

As a part of their step ‘Money and Time’, thestudents visited ICICI Bank’s Sector 50 branch on 6th

February. They were super excited as they enteredthe doors of the recently-inaugurated branch. Theywere told about the differences betweennationalized and private banks and got acquaintedwith the different denominations of currencies,opening of bank accounts, filling of pay-in slip todeposit money, withdrawal of money throughcheque, carefully explained by the Branch Manager,Mr. Radha Govind Nayak.

The inquisitive minds were filled with awe whileexploring the different counters at the bank.Watching the working of note sorting machine(NSM) and the UV-cheque detector was a treat foreveryone’s inquisitive eyes. They were extremelycurious to know about how and where the money isstored and how the ATM machines are refilled.

The students learnt about working of the ATMmachine with the pros and cons of handling thedebit and credit cards. They could swipe the debitcard and enter the PIN and also understood howimportant it is to safeguard the PIN. After gainingknowledge of basic functionalities, the studentsreflected on their learning by attempting anobservation sheet.

NDTV Studio Visit - As part of the hands-on learningexperience offered by Life Skill Choices atKunskapsskolan International — KED Tech Tools,our students from Grades 4-10 visited the NDTV

Studio for a “real” experience of a broadcastingstation.

At the NDTV headquarters, the students learntabout how news broadcasting is actually done. Theylearnt about how mobiles, print and internet arealso used as broadcasting tools. All in all, it was anenriching and learning experience for the KED TechTools students.

Communication is the key to a successfulrelationship. And, effective listening is an integralpart of communication.There’s so much talking happening at work thatopportunities to listen are well abound. We talk toprovide feedback, explain instructions, andcommunicate deadlines. Beyond the spoken word,there’s invaluable information to be decipheredthrough tone of voice, body language, and whatisn’t said. In other words, failing to keep your ears(and eyes) open could leave you out of the game.
