THE CIRCUIT RIDER Vol. 14, No. 3 April 2014 FROM THE PASTOR Reverend Livingstone Dore “Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3: 20-21) NIV Someone once said, “Springtime is the season of uncontained optimism.” After such a depressing Winter season, it’s time for us to be optimistic – life and living will get better from here on. Think about it! The days are getting longer and hotter; it’s time to put away the winter clothes and get out of the doldrums. It’s time to feel outrageously alive! That’s what Spring is all about. I belief Optimism engenders a spirit of belief. In fact, I don’t think that one can be optimistic and not have a spirit of belief. Easter brings out that spirit of belief. As Christians, we believe in the miraculous resurrection of Jesus. We believe that the resurrection marks a new beginning in our lives and in our world. The challenge is for us to maintain that spirit all year long. God’s Holy Spirit living within us is the source of that spirit of optimism. During this Easter season, let’s tap into that source. THE CIRCUIT RIDERVol. 14, No. 3April 2014

FROM THE PASTORReverend Livingstone Dore

“Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3: 20-21) NIV

Someone once said, “Springtime is the season of uncontained optimism.” After such a depressing Winter season, it’s time for us to be optimistic – life and living will

get better from here on.

Join us for Easter worship on Easter Sunday, April 20th. Sunrise Service at 7am, followed by our annual Easter breakfast; then our Easter Day service and Cantata at 10am.

A Blessed Spring time to you!

Family Night Dinner—It’s a party. On this night we will partake of a delicious meal graciously and generously prepared by our United Methodist Men. Then, we will be entertained by and participate in, a program presented by That Dance Thing. That Dance Thing is a teen ministry (one of three Dove Tail Ministries) that is designed to instill leadership and life skills in teens. The teaching tool is a ballroom dance, a skill and art that lends itself well to using analogies to the Christian ideals of following Christ and setting the example for others. This group meets twice a week in the Fellowship Hall at CHUMC. Grab this opportunity toexperience new and uplifting ways to have fun and at the same time feel closer to the Holy ONE. Make your reservations in the usual way by filling in the Gold Slip you will find in your bulletin the Sunday prior to the event. Or, call the church office by noon on Monday. Grace upon grace, Martha Sherrod

Senior Connections—The Seniors will meet on Thursday, April 10 at 12 noon. Bring a covered dish for all to enjoy. Our speaker will be Gayle Nicholas Scott, PharmD. She will have a power point presentation, “7 Healthy Medication How-tos”. This will be an interesting, lively and educational presentation. Come, learn and enjoy! PS Gayle is Bea Tweedie’s niece and Gayle was married at CHUMC in 1979.
