National Day of Action against

Bullying and Violence

Today is also National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. This annual

day provides a focus for all schools to say “Bullying. No Way”, and to strengthen

their existing everyday messages that bullying and violence at school are not okay

at any time.

Bellingen High School celebrated Harmony Day AND Saying No to Bullying in

two ways:

Having a mufti day – staff and students wearing yellow or orange for

Harmony Day or orange and blue for Saying No to Bullying.

Year 7 students also had a free photo booth session at lunchtime.

And finally…...

SMILE mentors will be starting various lunchtime activities with Year 7 students

over the next few weeks. This week we have started an art group during lunch

with Mr Wickham - it is open to all Year 7 students who are interested in art.

Come along to Mr Wickham’s Art Classroom every Wednesday at lunchtime.

We are also organising a lunchtime sports group, computer group and music group

– watch this space!

TAS Faculty leading the way in 21st

Century Education!

This year we have purchased two new 3D Printers and students are using them to build

small projects which they have designed on computer using Solid Edge CAD software.

Additive Manufacturing involves printing real-life objects including metals, and a variety

of materials and is the latest trend in industry as prototypes can be built and tested before

mass production takes place. Pictured below are some of our students at work using this

amazing technology.

Every student in Years 7, 8 and 9 have been issued a BRONZE Booklet.

Students are to have their BRONZE Booklets on their desk during each

lesson where teachers can give a BRONZE stamp for outstanding

achievement or effort during class.

When a student collects 20 BRONZE stamps they take their BRONZE

Booklet to their Year Advisor and receive a Bronze Award ticket.

Gold Excursion Lay By System

The Gold Excursion to the Gold Coast this year is on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd December 2015.

We are again running our "lay-by" system. If you think you will be up for some costs, whether it is a major excursion or similar thing, you can pay the activity off gradually. If for some reason your child does not go on the Gold Excursion and it is before the forfeit of deposit date, then we will refund your money. If you wish to take advantage of the "lay-by" system, go to the Front Office, nominate the activity and make your payment - now is a good time to start.

Come along to the Bellingen Show 9 & 10 May 2015

The Bellingen Show is fast approaching so now is a great time to think about how you might like to be part of the fun.

There are fantastic agriculture-related exhibits and events. There are also many opportunities to show off the wonderful talent and skill we have in the local area. Here’s just a few that might be of interest to you.

Firstly, school students have their own designated section with many category classes of competition for each of high school, primary, infants and pre-school children. Category classes include Textiles, Woodworking, Metalwork, Drawing, Scrap Booking, Paper Mache, Painting and many more.

There is also Art, Photography, Farm Produce, Fruit, Cookery, Floral Art, Beading, Crotchet and Knitting.

Also there’s Mongrel Dogs – who could resist showing off your best friend and favourite mutt? Is your dog particularly happy? Do they have huge ears? Can they sing? Are they beautifully groomed? Do they look pretty special when they get dressed up? There is a category for every pooch and it is great fun.

What about Painted and Decorated Gumboots? Let your imagination take control and rejuvenate those sad old gumboots with a bit of pizzazz and style. There are many categories and if you only have one boot don’t worry, single gumboots are also welcome.

Why not give one or more these a go -

and join in the fun.
