1. Overview

The purpose of this configuration guide is to describe the steps needed to configure the

ShoreWare Director for proper operation in a SIP Trunking application with the EdgeMarc.

Please note that this guide documents the basic configuration needed in the ShoreWare

Director and that the requirements of specific SIP Trunking environments may require

modifications to the configuration steps provided in this document.

2. Prerequisites

1 Prerequisites

SIP Trunking information provided by the VoIP service provider:

SIP proxy server IP address or DNS name.

Trunking Direct Inward Dial (DID) phone numbers

Calls to the Trunking DID(s) are forwarded from the service provider to the

wide area network (WAN) IP address of the EdgeMarc. There may be a

single “Pilot” phone number used for all inbound calls and/or multiple DIDs

depending on the service provider settings.

SIP authentication credentials / Static Mode

Some SIP Trunking service providers require a unique username and

password to be supplied for IP PBX registrations and/or SIP signaling using

P-Asserted-Identity (RFC 3325). This configuration guide provides the

configuration steps for Static Mode only.

3. Network Topology

The PBX in the above network topology represents the ShoreWare Director that is connected

via its LAN port through a switch to the LAN port of the EdgeMarc.

4. Description of Basic Operation and Call Flows

Basic Call Flow:

All phones connect to the same switch as the PBX. The PBX will interface with the service

provider using SIP trunks.

Internal calls:

● Calls between phones on the LAN

● LAN phone -> PBX -> LAN phone

Outbound calls:

● Call is initiated by a LAN phone to a WAN phone.

● LAN phone -> PBX -> EdgeMarc -> SIP trunk service provider -> WAN phone

Inbound call:

● Call is initiated by a WAN phone to a LAN phone.

● WAN phone -> SIP trunk service provider -> EdgeMarc- > PBX > LAN phone

2 ShoreWare Director Configuration-

The steps below describe the minimum configuration required to enable the PBX to use a SIP

trunk for inbound and outbound calling. Please refer to the ShoreWare Director Product

documentation for more information on SIP trunking or other advanced PBX features.

The configuration described here assumes that the PBX is already configured and operational

with station side phones using assigned extensions or DIDs. This configuration is based on

ShoreWare Director.

5. Deploying ShoreGear Switch

Initially the ShoreGear Switch must be deployed. Navigate to Platform Hardware>Voice

Switches Services Appliances>Primary and from top enter Headquarters next to Add

new switch/appliance at site and ShoreGear 220T1 next to of type. When done click

GO. Then enter a name, in this example 220T1 was entered. Enter the IP address for the

ShoreGear while making sure its IP address resides in the same network as the EdgeMarc. For

this setup it was given an IP address of 192.168.1.149. Then click on Find Switches and the

switch if connected to the network will automatically be recognized along with its MAC-

address. Next to Built-in-Capacity enter 50 in both fields to enable SIP capacity. When

finished click Save.

The switch now under should be seen as Primary as shown below.

6. Creating SIP Profiles

Now create SIP Profiles. Navigate to Trunk>SIP Profiles and click New to add a SIP Profile.

Enter a name, in this setup Edgewater was entered. User Agent was set as .* and Priority

was 100. Enter the System Parameters. Below next to Custom Parameters the following

was entered:

When done click Save. These values next to Enable should be seen as shown below. Check

Enable then Save.

NOTE: To register to the EdgeMarc using a username and password make the following

changes to the formula:

Register=1

RegisterUser=UserID

7. Creating Trunk Group

Now create a Trunk Group. Navigate to Trunks>Trunk Groups and enter Headquarters

next to Add new trunk group at site and SIP next to of type. When done click GO. Enter a

name, in the setup ToEdgeMarc was entered. Next to Profile select the SIP profile that was

recently created, Edgewater. Enter Username & Password if needed. Enter 10 next to

Number of Digits from CO. Check the Outbound field and next to Access Codes enter 9.

Enter the area code next to Local Area Code, in the example 678 was entered. When done,

click Save.

NOTE: To register to the EdgeMarc using a username and password select Outbound-Only

under Digest Authentication and enter the Pilot DID under Username and Pilot DID twice

under Password.

Now navigate to Trunks>Individual Trunks and next to in trunk group from the top select

ToEdgeMarc then click GO. Here enter a name, 220T1 was selected for switch. Next to IP

Address enter the address of the EdgeMarc. Also the number of trunks has to be specified, 5

was entered for our setup as shown below. When done click Save.

This can verified this by going back to Trunks>Individual Trunks and the trunks as shown

below should be seen.

Navigate to Users>User Groups and click on Executives. Next to Outgoing Trunk Groups

(Access Code) make sure ToEdgeMarc is checked. This will enable users to access this

trunk. When done click Save.

Finally navigate to Users>Class of Service and next to Telephony Features Permissions

click on Fully Featured. Make sure Allow Trunk-to-Trunk Transfer is checked.

8. Configuring DIDs & Extensions

Now create DIDs & Extensions for our phones. Navigate to Trunks>Trunk Groups and click

on ToEdgeMarc. Under Inbound check DID and click Edit DID Range. Next to Add this

record enter the Base Phone Number in the first field (Pilot DID) and the number of phone

numbers in the second field. When done, click Add this record then click Save. In this setup

was entered 6782384076 as our base number and added 25 numbers.

Then navigate to Users>Individual Users and next to Add new user at site: from the top

select Headquarters and click GO. Make sure you are under the General tab from the top.

Two phones were created. The first called Test and the second called Test2. Enter the name,

last name, and extension number next to Number. Next to License Type leave it as

Extension and Mailbox and next to Access License leave it as Personal. Next to Caller

ID: enter the DID of the extension. Check DID Range and here select the DID range that

was created above in the drop-down menu. Next to DID Number: enter again the DID

number of the extension. Next to User Group select Executives.

On the bottom next to Site: make sure to select Headquarters and when the phones are

connected to the network just click on Go Primary Phone and the phones just like the

ShoreGear will automatically be recognized with their MAC-addresses. Make sure the

configuration is in association with the proper phone.

When done click Save.

Trunk Services

Now configure various trunk services to specify what calls can be made out. Navigate to

Trunks>Trunk Groups and click on ToEdgeMarc. At the bottom next to Trunk Services

select all that apply to the network setup. The following were checked:

Also under Trunk Digit Manipulation the following was checked:

Now navigate to Users>User Groups and click on Executives. Next to COS-Call

Permissions select No Restrictions and next to COS–Telephony: select Fully Featured.

When done click Save.

9. Call Forward

To configure Call Forward, navigate to Users>Individual Users select the extension that

Call Forward needs to be enabled on. Then from the top select the Personal Options tab.

From the bottom next to Current Call Handling Mode: select the mode in which Call

Forward will be active then click that mode under Edit Call Handling Modes:. In the

example case In a Meeting was selected.

It can be configured in the way shown below. For this setup Always Destination was used.

Here is the option of forwarding to an extension or an external number. Next to External

6782344116 was entered. When done click Save. Now whenever the phone is In a

Meeting mode it will forward it to this number.

10. Auto-Attendant

To configure Auto-Attendant, navigate to Auto-Attendant Menus and click Add new. In the

example, extension 700 was used and left it with name Default. Make sure to give it a name,

assign an extension, and check DID Range: while selecting same DID range that was created

earlier. Then assign it a DID number next to DID Number.

On the bottom of the page under Schedule, configure the menu operation in accordance to

the required setup.

When done click Save.
