BRItISh JouRnal of nutRItIon PIStaChIo newS announCed at GloBal eventSHealth professionals in Germany, Italy and France, following the breaking news of American pistachios,
have yet another reason to advocate the eating of our healthy nut. A new research article, published
in the British Journal of Nutrition (BJN), suggests that eating pistachios does not cause weight gain or
an increased risk of obesity when included in a healthy diet. APG’s campaign to spread the good news
throughout Europe included nutrition-focused tradeshows and events.
nutrition focused trade shows included: Federation of european nutrition, October 20-23, 2015,
Berlin, Germany; italian Society of Human nutrition Annual conference; December 2-4, 2015,
Florence, Italy; dietecom, March 24-25, 2016, Paris, France.
At each of the trade shows, the booth’s graphics served as an educational tool to display the key points
of the study’s findings. APG sample packs, along the latest infographics on topics such as pistachios
and diabetes, heart health, mortality, and active lifestyles and nutrient comparisons among nuts, were
distributed. Hundreds of nutritionists, eager to receive more news about pistachio nutritional benefits,
signed up to receive our quarterly nutrition e-Newsletter, American Pistachio Nutrition Unshelled.
Presentation topics include international trade trends, global registrations, pesticide residue monitoring, MRL strategies for growers, updates for international residue standards, global MRL challenges, and research reports regarding the impacts of residues. Jay Vroom, President of CropLife America, will kick off the Workshop by discussing, “How modern Agriculture reduces Food Waste and the role of mrl Harmonization.”
International presenters from the European Union, Korea, Chile, Brazil, India and Canada will report on the latest MRL requirements for these major trade destinations. A Codex update will be presented by Mr. David Miller of the U.S. EPA’s Health Effects Division.
