Why Survey Volunteers?

Benefits of volunteering:

Can promote a sense of one’s ability to complete tasks and reach goals (self-efficacy)

Can foster a stronger sense of being connected to others (social ties).

Demonstrate results for Senior Corps program

Provide stronger evidence through use of comparison group design


Overview: How Grantees will ContributeFGP and SCP grantees are required to conduct the survey.

FGP and SCP volunteers are being asked to complete the survey, but their participation is voluntary.

Goal: More than 85 percent of volunteers complete a survey

Dates: The survey posted April 15. Collect and turn in all surveys by June 17.

April 15 1. Download the survey form(s) you will need for your volunteers and print. (http://www.nationalservice.gov/resources/sc-evaluations)

April 15 2. Determine how many copies are needed (one per volunteer) and make copies. April 18 3. Determine who will hand out the survey and who can assist, if needed.

Prepare survey helpers to:•Introduce the survey, provide instructions, and answer questions;•Assist volunteers who need help, if applicable (e.g. reading the questions to volunteers with low vision);•Maintain confidentiality.

April 18 4. Schedule time to conduct the survey. Assume 30 minutes total at an in-service training or meeting.

April 23 5. Hand out the survey and track attendance. May 28 6. Follow up with volunteers who were not in attendance to collect additional survey forms at

next in-service.
