Maximum co-funding rates (% of eligible costs):
STUDIES – 50% - activities needed to prepare projectimplementation, such as preparatory, mapping, feasibility,evaluation, testing and validation studies
WORKS – 10% - 40% - Purchase, supply anddeployment of components, systems and services includingsoftware, the carrying-out of development andconstruction and installation activities relating to a project,the acceptance of installations and the launching of aproject

CEF-T: Priorities to be funded
- High-speed and conventional railway lines (sidings, tunnels and bridges);- High speed lines: new lines equipped for speeds and upgraded conventional lines;- Associated equipment (e.g. electrification systems, equipment for the
boarding/alighting of passengers, automatic gauge-changing facilities ...);- Full electrification of line tracks;
- high-quality roads (motorways, express roads or conventional strategic roads)including bridges, tunnels, junctions, crossings, interchanges, hard shoulders and theirassociated equipment (e.g. equipment for traffic management, information and routeguidance).

- Upgrade and creation of waterways;- Construction/upgrading/modernisation of locks- Increasing of under-bridge clearance;- Facilities to ensure year-round navigability;- Creation and/or upgrade of infrastructure for mooring and waterborne operations
Interconnection between inland waterways and other modes of transport, inparticular rail and maritime transport.
- Hinterland connections;- Port access aiming at providing safe maritime;- Basic infrastructure;- Reception facilities for oil and other waste;- Facilities for ice-breaking and ensuring year-round navigability;- Implementation of new facilities and technologies regarding provision and use
of alternative fuels or energy;- Actions adapting the transport infrastructure for purposes of security;

CEF-T: Priorities to be funded
- Development of prototypes for the retrofit or upgrade of vehicles with ERTMSon-board equipment
- Works aiming at the development of new safe and secure parking areas on;- Works aiming at upgrading the safety and security of existing rest areas;- Works optimising the use of existing safe and secure parking areas for trucks
and commercial vehicles.
Ensuring sustainable and efficient transport systems in the long run, with a view to preparing for expected future transport flows, by supporting innovation and new technologies for all modes of transport
4Optimising the integration and interconnection of transport modes and enhancing the interoperability of transport services, while ensuring the accessibility of transport infrastructures
CEF-T: Priorities to be funded
- Actions shall deploy C-ITS services;- Actions must provide regular feedback on the results of the proposed
Actions;- Actions must be coordinated either by a Member State or a public
body;- All involved Member States must be or become core C-Roads Platform
members and apply all C-Roads specifications;- Actions shall ensure that all their pilots are fully interoperable with
already deployed C-ITS services under the umbrella of the C-RoadsPlatform;

Joint Undertakings (JUs) in the area of transport
• There are 4 Joint Undertakings (JUs) in H2020 that are relevant to the area of
transport::
• Clean Sky 2 – dedicated to aviation
• SESAR 2020 – dedicated to air traffic management (ATM)
• Shift2Rail – dedicated to rail transport
• FCH-JU – dedicated to hydrogen
• The JUs are public private partnerships (PPPs) between the European
Commission and the European industry – shared financing

Clean Sky 2
Clean Sky 2 publishes 2 types of calls, namely:
• Calls for Core Partners (CPWs) – only 4 of these Calls were published, in the first
years
• Calls for proposals (CfPs):
• CfP11: The CfP11 Call will be published soon
• There are some specific rules to Clean Sky, such as the fact that there is no
obligation to have a consortium with entities from at least 3 cities for RIAs/IAs

SESAR 2020
• This JU which aims to modernize Air Traffic Management (ATM) in Europe
• Its core task is the implementation of the European ATM Master Plan for the
implementation of the new generation of ATM systems.
• SESAR's institutional follow-up in Portugal is the responsibility of the National
Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC)

Shift2Rail JU
• This JU is the first European rail initiative looking for market-driven research and
innovation (R&I) focused solutions - all H2020 funding dedicated to rail is
allocated to Shift2Rail.
• It aims develop the technology needed to complete the Single European Railway
Area (SERA)
• It has 28 members, including the European Commission, rail operators, railway
infrastructure managers, companies from other areas, as well as universities and
research centers.

• Shift2Rail actitivies are structured arount 5 Innovation Programmes (IPs)

• Shift2Rail publishes 2 types of calls:
• Calls for Members (CFMs) – directed to the members of the JU
• Open Calls (OPs) – open to all entities who are not a part of the JU
• The 2020 Calls (OPs e CFMs) should be published in the last trimester of 2019
and the deadline will probably be around April 2020
• SESAR's institutional follow-up in Portugal is the responsibility of Instituto da
Mobilidade e dos Transportes (IMT)

• All funding in H2020 for hydrogen
research in concentrated in this JU
• This JU is a PPP between the European
Commission and the Hydrogen Europe
and Hydrogen Europe Research

• Every year the FCH-JU publishes an Annual
Work Plan (AWP) with the description of the
Call for that year – published in January and
with a deadline in April
• There is also a strategic document, called Multi

term perspective of the JU’s plans for future
