ANIMOTO(FREE)

• Slideshow set to music

• Uses images, video clips or a combination of the two

• Creates a movie with music and cool effects

• Movies can be saved to camera roll or uploaded to animoto site

• Ideas for classroom use- take pics of kids holding up posters of work or notecards; have kids add text to photos in photo2text app for research project

HAIKU DECK (FREE)

• Presentation maker

• Has a library of pics in the app

• Can import from library or create drawings in the app

• Export finished presentations as PowerPoints, keynotes or into other apps

• Use for research projects, to publish student writing or poetry

30 HANDS (FREE)

• Digital story telling app

• Take pics or import from camera roll

• Students narrate on each slide

• Ideas for use: have students draw pictures on paper of what they learned and take photo of each drawing, import into app and have each student tell about their work to make a class presention

• Take photo of students and have them narrate on their slide- telling about their favorite part of the assignment, etc.

• Students can illustrate and narrate original writing or poetry

PIC COLLAGE

• Create a photo collage with your pictures or student drawings

• Create digital posters

• Add text, backgrounds, videos, photos from camera roll or web

• Save to ipad or print by emailing to yourself

• Can be imported in Animoto, Haiku Deck, or 30 Hands to make a presentation

of the class’s posters (one made by each student)

• Ideas: reports, vocabulary (each student makes a poster for a word, then

compile for class book or presentation), students can illustrate poems

SKITCH (FREE)

• Picture note-taking/labeling app

• Example project idea (from Pinterest):

• Take 3 or more pictures of insects

• Insert pictures into Skitch

• Label at least 2 parts of the insect

• Load pics into 30 Hands.

• Type at least one sentence for each picture.

• Record audio of the sentences you typed.

AUDIOBOO (FREE)

• Easy way to publish audio files to the web.

• Access online from computer and within app

• Create QR codes online to link audio files to student work. The students can scan the QR with the Scan app and listen to each other on headphones.

• Create talking pictures by drawing a mouth on a photo and recording audio.

• Ideas for use:

• Bring student artwork to life

• Talking biographies

COMPUTER PROGRAMING APPS

• Coding or computer programing is an important 21st century skill. It is also a STEM skill.

• Tynker- a lot of features – including the ability to add classes and projects. It includes a basic curriculum for elementary that already has lesson plans with projects.

SOME PINTEREST IDEAS • Create a Tic Tac Toe board for students to choose apps while using iPad cart

• Use Wordfoto app to create an “All About Me” poster in the beginning of the year using students’ top ten favorites. Or use for a book character in a book report or a bibliography.
