1st Semester Goals

Applied TechnologyStudents will be in this program for three semesters:

1) Exploration of technology: - try each of the technologies to find interests

1) Refinement of aptitude and interests:- acquire sufficient knowledge and experience to narrow

areas of interest and aptitude3) Development of career options:- begin the process of matching skills and aptitudes to

competitive employment opportunities

about Dave Ricker:

Created the Applied Technology Program at The Learning Clinic, Brooklyn, CT- 6 areas: Photography, Computer Graphics, Poster Production, Audio/Video, and

Architecture/3D Printing and Programming- wrote curriculum, specified technology and equipment, and designed layout

- instructed Applied Technology; - supervised and monitored activities in Applied Technology, Applied Visual Arts, the Art Studio, and Performing Arts;- coordinated lessons to develop the knowledge and skills of students.

Focused on teaching students how to learn. This is the key for future survival in any technology area.

Utilized unique personal assets:- skilled at directing, motivating and leading technology groups, without being an expert in each environment;

- background which relates technology in the work-place.

Management experience is pointedly relevant to Applied Technology:- General Electric: instrumentation technicians in industrial and nuclear sectors - General Electric: apparatus service professionals for motors, generators and transformers for

manufacturing and power generation- American Optical: instrumentation technicians for non-contact tonometers, optical

microscopes and scanning electron microscopes- Instrumentation Laboratories: field service engineers and technicians for blood gas analyzer

and centrifugal analyzer medical instrumentation- Sir Speedy Printing and Graphics: digital graphics professionals for artwork preparation and

digital printing preparation.
