Head Lice There has been a report of head lice being found in a number of classes throughout the school. Unfortunately this problem can affect us all and can only be controlled through careful checking of your child’s hair. We would appreciate it if you could check your child’s hair and establish a regular checking process to as-sist with the control of head lice. If any cases are found, please treat your child with an approved lotion that effectively kills both eggs and adult lice. Please note that children with head lice are required under the Health (Infectious Diseases) Regulations to be excluded from school, day care or crèche until treatment has commenced. A child with head lice can be treated one evening and return to school the next day, even if there are still some eggs present.

Be You Update You may have heard of Kids Matter before, that’s who we were - but the name has now changed to ‘Be You’. Be you is not about getting new play equipment or changing school curriculum policies, it’s about helping students have positive mind sets and creating a healthy learning space. You have probably seen us in our colourful tops before. Every morning a group of our Be You team come to school early to greet people at the front and back gates. We are also roaming around at lunch and recess helping sort out small problems. The Be You Student Action Team also sets up fun programs so that everyone can enjoy their day at school. We often run annual programs like the ‘Bullying, No Way’ day of action, community lunch on the oval as well as ‘Have Your Say Day’ which took place yesterday. Have Your say Day will take place once a term and encourages kids to come and share their opinions about school in general and how they could improve it. Make sure to look out for us at lunch and recess if you have any problems or even if you just need someone to play with! By Abbey, Eva and Myah J

On Thursday 9th May we had our first Community Garden Meeting. We had parents, grandparents and community members very excited to assist with creating the best garden we possibly can. We have another meeting scheduled for Thursday 23rd May at 5pm in Room 13, Mrs Lancaster’s room. In this meeting we will be finalising our tasks for the working bee taking place on Sunday 2nd June at 8am. If you are interested in coming to the meeting next Thursday or would like to come and help at the working bee, please email me at [email protected] Students are handing in lots of great garden names into the ‘Name our Community Garden’ competition. Maybe some families could help their children think of a name that would be suitable? Bring entries to Mrs Lancaster’s room (13) and pop them in the entry box. For inspiration, think about what things we will be doing in the garden or what plants we may grow! Thank you Bec Lancaster
