This project dealt with the topic of chronophobia. It made sense to use videos as a response as they contain time lapses. Videos would be interesting as they are a contradiction to the phobia itself since sufferers fear the passing of time thus reversing the video is a way of contradicting the phobia. This sequence served as the title to the video composition. To view it please go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0 LmEnWLc250&list=UUfjgUZfXehNV6 Ju_uFqXxhg&index=1&feature=plcp

Two approaches were taken in this brief but both share the same slogan and tone. I wanted to create very sarcastic and dark posters that would initially come across as beautiful, which was my interpretation of what the society was all about. The text and the logo are intended to sound and look beautiful but hide a dark irony to them to the false concept of perfection and beauty. They are also intended to be very assertive or even imperative similarly to the society.

This poster was inspired by the clinical and beauty products industry. It plays with the idea of ideal proportions in very cold yet soothing colours. It intends to be a resource to what perfection should be like but its artistic imagery implies a sense of fakeness. The location of text is quite simple so that the poster sends our its message quickly and clearly.

This design is slightly more unconventional and artistic. It has a graphic which is clearly computer illustrated which looks very appealing but also has an air of fiction to it, possibly metaphorically suggesting that perfection and beauty can only be created artificially.

The colour scheme is inspired by the artist Obey creations as I have previously acknowledged how his colour combinations work together by using complimentary colours.

As a final touch, the Arabic style arch was added as they are a society which is focused on symmetry and beauty and fitted very neatly into the composition, holding the illusion in place with the text and completing the layout. Altogether, this poster has an air of the glorification of artificial unrealistic beauty.

A classic brief about packaging. The task was to design a unique package for a light bulb, taking into account costs, space maximisation, glue required, materials and costs of production. Designs were made to be to cost and material efficient trying to maintain as much as a real life scenario as possible.

A project related to the topic of ompholophobia (the fear to belly buttons) which I suffer. A big part of it is the irrational fear of having someone touch your belly button. This was expressed by producing a drawing of a muscular male torso (which would usually symbolise power and confidence) which had its belly button cut out. It was then taken around town and placed on locations which involved introducing an object through the whole; portraying the phobia.

Upon being asked to choose a magazine cover and explore making a single change each time the choice was to alter the main image in a range of ways to imitate realistic manipulations. By changing that single element then placing it in the unchanged background it shows how much a subtle change can affect the message and feel of the whole cover.

Geniophobia is the fear of chins. This was a simple response to it where the chins Hollywood’s top ranked men in 2011, thus arguably the sexiest chins you could find. Thus this composition is a juxtaposition of the worst and best case scenario a person that suffers from Geniophobia could face.

This is the cover page to a 8 page spread each student in the class did to produce a book in collaboration with Vaughan Oliver. We were allowed to choose any subtopic within the parameters of the banal. My spreads deal with dreams in their most fictional and abstract way.

This is a photoshoot on the topic of chromophobia (the irrational fear of colours). The model is the Finnish Cecilia Lindstrom who was chosen for her light skin and eyes thus could easily be painted white to create an atmosphere is purity and lack of colour.

This brief asked us to research a specific behaviour. I chose to make it personal and unique thus focused on my phobia to fruit seeds. After considering doing instructions or videos the final direction was to create a text that would be a direct ironically speech to the phobia itself. I was later prompt to take it further into other media in which I could spread my message.

This is a piece which was made in collaboration with Cecilia Lindstrom during a free experimentation week. The intention behind this was to experiment and learn more about photography. We got together in a playful manner and quickly realised it would be very impressive and good experience to attempt to make a successful stop motion.

The final creation does not narrate a specific story but it does not imply a sense of possession or loss of control or possibly the release of the true person within all of us.
