Motorola Helps Enable RC Technologies To Deliver Video Service Wireless!y

HORSHAM, PA - 24 April 2007 - Motorola, Inc. This will allow RC Technologies to deliver video content wirelessly tosubscribers in the northeastern portion of the state.

Using a Motorola Astria content processor head··end to provide bandwidth efficient advanced compression technologies, RCTechnologies plans to deliver more than 90 channels of video over its core Internet Protocol (IP) fiber netvvork.

At the edge of the network, Motorolas Astria video services processor will convert the IP channels to digital RF for delivery overcoax or the MMDS network, depending upon location As a result, customers in RC Technologies'service area will now havemore choice in video service providers.

"RC Technologies provides world-class communication and entertainment services while maintaining an economical approach tothe business," said Pam Harrington, CEO, RC Technologies. In addition to providing the core video processing technologies, Motorola will provide integration and project management for allheadend components, including conditional access, multiplexing and set-top testing. Motorola is using its MPEG-4 advancedvideo codec (AVC) to deliver video content to subscribers via Radio Frequency (RF) set top boxes

Las Vegas - NAB 2007 - April 16, 2007 - Irdeto, a world-leader in content security for digital TV, IPTV and mobile, has

been selected by RC Technologies to secure the wireless operator's broadband radio service (BRS)* network in rural

communities. The network, integrated by CC&I Engineering, marks the first deployment of MPEG-4 compression via

Coship's new AnySight 600 set-top boxes (STBs).

BRS uses microwave frequencies to deliver broadcast signals from RC Technologies head-end to terrestrial towers, allowing

subscribers to receive wireless cable transmissions from their rooftop antennas.

"BRS allows RC Technologies to deliver cable TV services without facing the expensive investments associated with

developing a wired-cable infrastructure," said Scott Bostrom, operations manager at RC Technologies. "The end-result is a

quality broadcast offering without passing unnecessary costs on to our rural subscribers."

"RC Technologies chose the Irdeto Digital TV content security solution because of its wide support for STBs and head-end

equipment suppliers and demonstrated track record for proven content protection around the world," said David Pawloski,

network engineering manager at CC&I Engineering. "There was no hesitation to recommend Irdeto for this deployment."

RC Technologies is the first video provider to use MPEG-4 compression based on Coship's new AnySight 600 STBs, provided

by TBC Integration. MPEG-4 technology supplies up to 50 percent more video compression than MPEG-2. This helps to

mitigate the limited spectrum bandwidth given to wireless operators, allowing more channel offerings and a much higher

level of service without sacrificing performance or picture quality.

"The value of wireless cable is contingent on the ability to protect the content being broadcast from the head-end to the

subscriber," said Doug Lowther, vice president of sales and marketing for Irdeto. "Irdeto Digital TV provides RC

Technologies with a proven content security solution that ensures subscribers can only view the cable package

programming they have paid for."

Irdeto has Rural Development Utilities Program (RDUP)** product approval, reducing overall operator deployment costs.

RDUP provides financing to companies planning to bring broadband services to underserved areas of the u.s.

* Also known as Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Service (MMDS)

-----Original Message-----From: Sebek [mailto:[email protected]]Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2007 12:00 PMTo: [email protected]: hiWe are very excited about getting digital cable. Like many systems this will offer us many channels plus localchannels, but this will be from a local telephone cooperative. We will receive many more channels and theprice is reasonable. It also will have the local channels, which we like. We did check into another system butwere not able to get the same local channels. We have lived in this area our whole lives and like that there is alocal telephone cooperative and features many options.

Having digital cable come to the area will be a big step all around. The telephone cooperative offers manyoptions which we use. We have telephone and internet service from them now and are very satisfied. They arethere when we have questions and help us in any way they can. Thank you for all you help and keep up thegood work.
