WHY DOES APD CHANGE THEIR DESIGN?

- More people are using mobile devices. A recent Pew study shows 95% of Americans now own a cell phone of some kind. And 77% of Americans own smartphones in 2018 which is up from 35% in 2011. So the question is: Should we support our mobile users in addition to desktop users? The answer is YES and that’s where the Responsive Web Design (RWD) comes in.

WHAT IS A RESPONSIVE WEBSITE DESIGN (RWD)?

- RWD is a design that should look good on all devices (Desktop, Tablets, and Smart Phones).

WHAT TECHNOLOGY DID WE USE TO BUILD RESPONSIVE WEBSITE?

- We use Bootstrap 4. Bootstrap is the world’s most popular CSS Framework for developing responsive and mobile-first website.

WHAT DEVICES AND BROWSERS ARE SUPPORTED BY BOOTSTRAP?

- Bootstrap supports the latest, stable releases of all major browsers and platforms. On Windows, Bootstrap supports IE 11 and Microsoft Edge.

WHAT IF I AM USING AN OLDER IE BROWSER LIKE IE 7 or IE 8?

- Then the website will not render properly on your mobile device.

HOW DO WE GET AROUND IT?

- If you are using a GFE you don’t have to upgrade because GFE uses the update versions. But if you are using your home computer to access APD website and your browsers are out-of-date then please consider upgrading your browsers to the latest. To upgrade, CLICK HERE.

WHAT CHANGES DID YOU INCLUDE IN THE NEW DESIGN?

- Look and Feel (Color scheme – the current color is golden and light-golden, the new color is Army green and light Army green)

- Responsive Design (The current design is not mobile-device users friendly, the new design is mobile users friendly)

- Information clean-up and organized + We added a new block called “NEWS” to the main homepage. When you click on that block it will take you to a page that contains all Latest Update News and General News as well as Forms/Publications News. + We added a new block called “COMPLETED ACTIONS”. When you click on that block it will take you to a page that contains all the completed publications actions in the last week. It will also allow you to view the completed publications actions in the previous weeks. + We added a new block called “NEW FORMS RELEASES”. When you click on that block it will take you to a page that contains the “Latest Releases” page

+ We added a new block called “HOW TO PUBLISH”. When you click on that page it will take you to a page that contains the “HOW TO PUBLISH” page + We changed the images for our blocks to make them more appropriate
