In order to nurture and equip the next generation with the perspectives and competence needed in globalized and multi-cultural societies, schools and teachers should be provided with opportunities for a broader spectrum of global educational experiences and capacity building.
Recognizing the critical role of teachers, APCEIU is channeling its efforts to strengthen teachers’ global competence through various regional and inter-regional teacher exchange programmes. These exchange programmes aim to develop teachers’ intercultural communication skills and global competence through field experiences, to enhance ties and mutual understanding between participating countries, and to build a network of teachers and schools for exchange and partnerships.
International Teacher Exchange
Asia-Pacific Teacher Exchange for Global EducationThis teacher exchange programme was launched in 2012 as a bilateral exchange programme between the Republic of Korea and several countries in Asia and the Pacific. Through an exchange that ranges from 3 to 6 months, participating teachers have opportunities to better understand each other’s education system and culture and enhance their global education competence. Currently, the following programmes are in action with the prospect of increasing the number of participating countries as the programme scope expands:
● Teacher Exchanges with Asian Countries : Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Philippines
Teaching Abroad for Global CompetencyIn order to meet the need for global citizenship education competency in the globalized classroom, this programme enables in-service teachers to exchange visits and conduct co-teaching lessons in host schools of foreign countries for 2~4 weeks.
● Participants come from the Republic of Korea, Australia, Russia, Singapore, UK, and USA.
The scope of our material development ranges from training manuals for different areas and levels of education to user-friendly aids and reading resources, with due consideration for research findings and suggestions in terms of both content and form.
APCEIU's resources and services continue to raise greater EIU awareness through past and current publications, and visual materials are made available on the APCEIU website to ensure easy access for teachers and students in the region.
