APA, Planning, and Health Anna Ricklin, AICP Manager, Planning and Community Health Center Overview APA is an independent, not-for-profit educational organization that provides leadership in the development of vital communities. We measure our success by the successes of our members and the communities they serve. APHA is leading our evaluation efforts as well as providing public health expertise. Project Vision Full integration of planning and public health where people live, work, and play. Nutrition: Increased access to environments with healthy food or beverage options Physical Activity: Increased access to physical activity opportunities Promote health equity Live Well Kingston is a city-endorsed coalition of organizations, businesses and individuals that work together to improve the environment, culture, and opportunities in Kingston, NY for residents to lead healthier lives. Live Well Kingston is launching the Walk and Talk With a Doc program to connect local patients to local places. The coalition is partnering with the Kingston Land Trust on their regular 3rd Sunday walks on the Kingston Greenline.Kingston Land Trust Reach Health Communities in Columbus, Indiana has identified three key project strategies: 1)Analysis and design of bicycle and pedestrian crossing treatments at key intersections of Columbus People Trail System. 2)Development of a case study for the design of bicycle and pedestrian crossing treatments at state highway intersections. 3)Public awareness campaign: Go Healthy, Columbus Safe Routes to Parks Plannings Role: influence policy that facilitates safe access to parks and support usage of ALL parks by ALL users Safe Routes to Parks Key Strategies: Assessment/Gap Analysis: use data from mapping, audits, focus groups, and surveys to identify infrastructure gaps in park access Siting: guide the placement of parks and streets to increase park visibility and shorten routes to meet the needs of all residents Capital Improvement Program: allocation of public dollars to infrastructure that improves residents access and connectivity to parks and open space Partnerships: facilitate intergovernmental coordination and partnerships between the public, private, and nonprofit sectors More Resources Planning and Community Health Center Planning Tools for Health Health Impact Assessment in Planning
