Patient care and safety is our top priority. We follow rigorous standards in infection control, dust and moisture control, interim life safety, vibration mitigation, shut-down coordination, and privacy considerations.

Our healthcare team includes more than 50 professionals certified in Healthcare Construction and Infection Control by the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE).

Our expertise ranges from new, large specialty medical campuses to occupied expansions at rural critical access hospitals. We have partnered with many of the leading healthcare systems, some for more than 30 years.

We understand how to efficiently integrate key stakeholders and end users into the design/preconstruction and construction process to ensure spaces meet the needs of today, and are flexible for the technologies of tomorrow.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING

A&P has worked in partnership with the owner to build all three phases of this award-winning master-planned medical campus. Phase I involved the construction of a 66,000-sf, 26-bed medical and surgery center. The A&P team guided the project through a series of sub-surface challenges that threatened to jeopardize the tight 14-month schedule. Despite weeks of delays, the team recovered the lost time using Building Information Modeling (BIM), allowing the team to create schedules and explore multiple sequencing scenarios, prefabricate ductwork and piping, and resolve hundreds of clashes before work began onsite. The project was completed on time and within budget.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING

For the past 25 years A&P has been a partner with Kaiser Permanente in the construction of multiple complex renovations at the Franklin Multi-Specialty Medical Campus located in Downtown Denver, Colorado. During this partnership the scope of work encompassed more than 30 major renovations ($250K and above) and more than 150 minor renovation projects.

A&P has completed work in every department in the facility and has upgraded the electrical and mechanical systems, replaced the elevators, facilitated the boiler replacement, renovated the information technology system as well as exterior skin upgrades and parking garage renovations. One of the more challenging projects on this campus was the addition of the 12th floor of the existing medical tower. This 17,000 sf addition and renovation was completed directly above vital medical procedures that needed to stay fully functioning during this 7 month construction project.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING

A&P constructed a new four-story specialty medical office building connected to Exempla Hospital for Kaiser Permanente. The facility includes a satellite pharmacy, exam rooms and labs for pathology, head and neck clinic, plastic surgery clinic, infusion treatment (chemotherapy) facility and phototherapy treatment facility.

The success of this project hinged on the project team’s communication. This project included many decision makers; not only the owner, architect, A&P, and major consultant, subcontractors, and suppliers, but also personnel involved with the new hospital located next to this facility. Because of schedule requirements, A&P needed to fully leverage both face-to-face contact and state-of-the-art electronic reporting to make the timely decisions necessary to complete this project. Not only did A&P meet the schedule and budget requirements, but the project was delivered 2 months early and finished substantially under budget.

The project required A&P to work in an occupied space. The space was highly

sensitive inasmuch as they had to build over the obstetrics floor. They certainly did a great

job of avoiding disruptions of services and did an exceptional job of communicating with

department leadership.”

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING

St. Catherine Hospital selected A&P for the interior buildout of 41,000-sf of shelled space remaining in the existing hospital. The build out was completed in the existing hospital above the occupied and fully functioning labor and delivery wing. Through continuous communication and careful coordination with the hospital staff and facilities management personnel, this project was successfully completed without disruption to ongoing hospital operations.

The project included 64 patient rooms and ancillary spaces including 4 isolation rooms, 60 medical surgery rooms, and treatment and procedure rooms to accommodate acute hemodialysis patients.

St. Catherine Hospital is a regional hospital located in rural Kansas. It was important to the administration that as much local labor and subcontractors be utilized. A&P was able to achieve a 69% local subcontractor participation and 90% Kansas subcontractor participation.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING

This new 12-bed, 68,500-sf critical access hospital replaced the City’s existing hospital. Located on a 14-acre site, the new Yuma District Hospital significantly expands the quality and capacity of vital community healthcare services. The new facility includes a surgery wing, two operating rooms, endocrinology area, LDRP area, radiology department, cardiac/trauma area, physical therapy pool area, labs and clinic space.

A&P was brought on-board mid-design and was immediately challenged to maintain the strength and integrity of the architect’s compelling aesthetic vision within the client’s budget.

A&P applied a contentious preconstruction process to carefully scrutinizing design choices, building materials and finishes and proposed effective alternatives, which reduced costs without mitigating quality, functionality or the owner and architect’s aesthetic vision.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING

This emergency room expansion and remodel includes six exam rooms and three trauma rooms. In addition, the project includes a new triage room, nurses station, clean room, reception room, waiting room, consult room, doctors office, break room and parking lot. Well-managed funds enabled the owner to add an additional parking lot, which was not part of the original scope.

The original stormwater plan was redrawn and routed to the south side of the hospital delaying A&P to begin construction a month late. Despite the new design and delay of construction start, A&P was able to finish two weeks before the original scheduled completion date. This was achieved by working hand in hand with the architect and civil engineer during the site work phase, often building off of drawings that were handed to A&P the same morning and by pushing our subcontractors to perform and coordinate with the team as a whole.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING

A&P has been an integral partner with the Banner Health System for the past several years. At the North Colorado Medical Center, Banner’s flagship hospital in Colorado, we are renovating inpatient rooms on existing occupied floors. As part of this cosmetic upgrade, we are removing and replacing the mechanical systems (air handlers, pumps, fire pumps and controls) servicing multiple floors. In addition, we are currently engaged in building out a new centralized inpatient pharmacy.
