Myojoji Temple (Noto) is the head temple of the Buddhist Nichiren Sect in the Hokuriku Region. Some of the temple buildings, which are designated as Important Cultural Properties, were constructed during the reign of first five generations of Kaga's ruling feudal family-Maedas. The 34 meters tall Goju-no-To (five storied pagoda) is the largest wooden pagoda in the Hokuriku region and it's a masterpiece of early Edo Period pagodas.

Ganmon Sea-Cave is a cave mouth created by the erosion of Miocene volcanic rocks rising out of the sea. It's 6 m wide, 15 m tall and 60 m deep. The rugged scenery created by the steep cliffs and fierce waves around Ganmon are symbolic of the dynamic scenery of the Noto Peninsula. Near the cave intertidal wave-cut platforms are exposed and we can easily collect seaweed samples for ostracods.

We will also visit a freshwater ostracod sampling site and Sekinohana, a rocky shore composed of Miocene calcareous sands for additional marine intertidal ostracod sampling.
