“Sing Praise to the Lord, You People of Grace” LUYH #7:1-4 1. Sing praise to the Lord, you people of grace; fill heaven with the songs that sound from this place; since you are God’s servants and meet in his name, his wonders declare and his glory proclaim.

Refrain Halle! Hallelujah! Halle! Halle! Hallelujah! Halle! Hallelujah! Halle! Halle! Hallelujah!

2. His greatness exceeds what words can explain, and his is the power no force can restrain; with fanfares of horns and crescendos of strings raise anthems to honor the King of all kings.

Refrain

3. Where music is made, let rhythms abound: let cymbals and drums add weight to the sound; with dance that is graceful and words that are clear, bring joy to the God you adore and revere.

Refrain

4. Yield all that you are to worship the Lord— see life as a psalm, each moment a chord; let harmonies flourish and melodies soar— let all that has breath praise the Lord evermore.

“All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name” LUYH #601:1-4

1. All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall. Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown him Lord of all. Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown him Lord of all!

2. O seed of Israel’s chosen race now ransomed from the fall, hail him who saves you by his grace, and crown him Lord of all. Hail him who saves you by his grace, and crown him Lord of all!

3. Let every tongue and every tribe on this terrestrial ball, to him all majesty ascribe, and crown him Lord of all. To him all majesty ascribe, and crown him Lord of all!

“Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own;”

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession Words of Assurance:

Hear the good news of the gospel: God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. In Christ, by God’s grace, we are saved. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow! —based on Ephesians 2:4-7, NRSV

Reprinted by permission from The Worship Sourcebook, © 2004, CRC Publications

Song of Assurance: LUYH #227:1-3 “He Is Lord”

1. He is Lord, he is Lord, he is risen from the dead, and he is Lord! Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

2. He is King, he is King, he will draw all nations to him; he is King! And the time shall be when the world shall sing that Jesus Christ is King.

3. He is Love, he is Love, he has shown us by his life that he is Love! All his people sing with one voice of joy that Jesus Christ is Love.

God’s Law: Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. —Philippians 4:4-9, NRSV

Offering: General Fund

* Song of Preparation: LUYH #859:1-4 “Be Thou My Vision”

1. Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; naught be all else to me, save that thou art- thou my best thought, by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.

2. Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord. Thou my great Father; thine own may I be, thou in me dwelling and I one with thee.

3. Riches I heed not, nor vain empty praise; thou mine inheritance, now and always: thou and thou only first in my heart, high king of heaven, my treasure thou art.

4. High King of heaven, my victory won, may I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, still be my vision, O Ruler of all. “Be Thou My Vision” Words: Irish hymn, 8th c; tr. Mary E. Byrne; vers. Eleanor H. Hull,

Music: Irish melody; arr. Jack Schrader; © 1989 Hope Publishing Company. CCLI#678905

During the singing of the last verse, children ages 3-first grade

“And hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity.”

*Hymn of Application: LUYH #223:1-4 “Crown Him with Many Crowns” 1. Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne; Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own; awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee and hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity.

2. Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o’er the grave, who rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save; his glories now we sing who died and reigns on high, who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

3. Crown him the Lord of love; behold his hands and side, rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified; no angels in the sky can fully bear that sight, but downward bend their burning eyes at mysteries so bright.

4. Crown him the Lord of years, the potentate of time, creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime. All hail, Redeemer, hail! for thou hast died for me; thy praise shall never, never fail throughout eternity. Words: sts. 1, 3, 4 Matthew Bridges, 1851; st. 2 Godfrey Thring, 1874, alt., P.D.; Music: George J. Elvey, 1868, P.D.; CCLI #678905

* We Profess our Faith: Our World Belongs to God #58 (GH pg. 1038)

With the whole creation we wait for the purifying fire of judgment. For then we will see the Lord face to face. He will heal our hurts, end our wars, and make the crooked straight. Then we will join in the new song to the Lamb without blemish who made us a kingdom and priests. God will be all in all, righteousness and peace will flourish, everything will be made new, and every eye will see at last that our world belongs to God! Hallelujah! Come, Lord Jesus.

OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Dear Friends, If you and I were asked to list the most 'important' characters of the Old Testament I suspect that many of us would naturally list the likes of Abraham, Moses, and David. Perhaps a few of us might list "Samuel," but probably not many. Samuel's place in redemptive history is often greatly underestimated by those who regularly read God's Word. Yet, his life and ministry play an important role in the Bible's story and provides an inspiration that has significant meaning for us today. It was Samuel whom God used to guide Israel out of the chaos of the judges and to serve the coming of the kingdom in the arrival of David. Today, there is a great need for many more 'Samuel's' as we prepare for the return of our King! In the weeks to come we are going to take a closer look at Samuel's life and ministry. Listed below is the 'tentative' plan of our study and as always I encourage you to read the text ahead of time in preparation for our study each week. May God bless us as study Samuel's life together and observe how he points us directly to our Savior Jesus Christ. In His Grace, Pastor John Knoester

We thank God for His faithfulness and for the many years He has blessed them with. OTHER CONCERNS: Update from Tim Van Hofwegen about his mom, Irene: We are so happy that she made enough progress to go home yesterday. All together she was in the hospital for two weeks (she had a stem cell transplant). It was a rough time for her but we are thankful for the progress she has made. She still has a ways to go but being at home is better than being at the hospital. God is Faithful. Pray for safe travels for those traveling throughout the summer. Pray for the Cascade Family Bible Conference which begins this week Thursday at Warm Beach. Christian Reformed World Missions: Central America: Many CRWM missionaries who serve in Central America are involved in IMPACT youth clubs, which empower young people to make positive changes in their communities. Pray that adults living in the communities where these clubs are ministering will find ways to get involved with youth and encourage them.

Back to God Ministries International: India - Sanjeev, a faithful listener to our Hindi radio programs, testifies, “When I listen to your programs on the radio, I feel as if someone is calling me in the desert to quench my spiritual thirst.” Pray that Sanjeev—and all who are hearing the gospel message—will find the eternal life-giving water of Jesus Christ.

ServiceLink: Volunteering and connections - Summer is a time for renewal and refreshment for church staff and volunteers; please pray that God will bless and refresh all who serve in ministry.

World Renew: Nigeria - World Renew is providing an opportunity for healing in hurting communities through peace-building and trauma-healing programs. Participants have been able to process their experiences and extend forgiveness to one another. Please pray for these individuals as they continue to heal deep wounds. Pray that they will look to God as the source of their strength.

Christian Reformed Home Missions: Emmaus City Church, Worcester, Mass. - Pray for Pastor Mike Sullivan and his team in reaching neighbors who need to make tough decisions in life. Pray for all who walk alongside others seeking to know the true Way, Jesus.

Back to God Ministries International: Southern Russia - Natalia was referred to a church by our Russian-language ministry producer. After attending worship, she wrote, “I prayed for God’s forgiveness last Sunday! Now I feel that I’m in complete harmony with him. My soul is ready for the future, whatever it might be.” Praise God for the new life Natalia is experiencing in Christ, and pray that she will continue to grow in his grace.

Christian Reformed World Missions: West Africa - CRWM missionaries in West Africa serve alongside a couple hosting young men who have fled from spiritual persecution, addictions, and war. Praise God for this couple as they have taken
