the donations we make to Spirit Week and Project Graduation. Again, first prize is dinners out once a week for a year (total value $1,000)!! Second prize is smaller dining gift certificates (total value $400). You still have time to sell and request additional books – please contact one of the PTO officers below if you need additional booklets. The drawing will be held in the PPB High School on Tuesday, December 8th at 7:30pm. During our October general membership meeting, we listened to the homecoming candidates’ speeches and awarded each class $500 to help boost their funds to use during Spirit Week on their floats, gym decorations, and other activities. The speeches were wonderful and the candidates all represented their class and the High School very well. The Homecoming Parade and game will be on Friday, October 30th, so come on out and support the school!! Don’t forget about the PTO’s BEACH sportswear sales at our home football games – please stop by the trailer, especially if you’re looking to get your holiday shopping out of the way a little early this year. If you can't make it there to purchase your items, then please contact one of your PTO officers. Sportswear sales represent our second largest fundraising effort, plus everyone looks simply smashing in BEACH T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and gloves!! Please join us at our next PTO meeting on Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00 P.M. in the High School Library. As always, thank you in advance for your help and support. PRINCIPAL’S P.S. The month of November is synonymous with gratefulness. No other month has at its very core a literal “Thanksgiving” day. That day - the only one in the entire year that is devoted to giving thanks - is like no other. It’s not a day to exchange gifts; for most of us, it’s not a day to go to work; it’s not even a day to get caught up on household chores. Instead, it’s a day for families and friends to gather together and give thanks for everything that is good in their lives, including each other.

November Happenings

Page 5: “LIFE AT THE BEACH”...Junior Parent Night will be held onThursday, November 12, 2015 at 7:00 in theP.M.F. Thomas Crawley Auditorium at the Antrim School. Class advisors will speak

What invariably happens as Thanksgiving approaches, though, is a frenetic flurry of activity that often involves school commitments, last-minute preparations for the big feast, travel delays for arriving relatives, and familial concerns as to whether or not everyone will be on their best behavior and show kindness, caring, and love for one another. Sometimes, the pressures that accompany planning for the day on which we are expected to be thankful prevent us from focusing on the real meaning of Thanksgiving. I’d like to invite all of us to take a moment out of each and every day – not just on Thanksgiving day – to recognize and appreciate everything good that has come our way. Of course, we’ve all been through difficult times, some more challenging than others. Probably there will be more. Despite this, my hope is that, in time, the good far outweighs the bad. To my family, friends, students, colleagues, and the school community, I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving throughout the entire year – not just on Thanksgiving day. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours. Terri M. King Terri M. King, Principal

Dear Parents, On behalf of the PTO, welcome to the 2015/2016 school year at Point Pleasant Beach High School. Enclosed you will find your family’s “Dining Out” raffle tickets. This is the PTO’s biggest fund raiser of the year and we would sincerely appreciate 100% participation. Each family is asked to sell a minimum of one book of 10 tickets, each ticket is $5. The ticket stubs, money, and any unsold tickets need to be returned the High School PTO by December 1st, 2015. The winners will be chosen at our December 8th General Membership meeting. Please remember to completely fill out your tickets by hand and

please print legibly. Stamps/stickers will invalidate your entries. A separate payment (cash or check) needs to be made for this fundraiser. PLEASE DO NOT CO-MINGLE WITH MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT – THANK YOU! The “Dining Out” raffle effort is responsible for funding the PTO’s entire operating budget for the year. Examples of how the PTO supports the High School include: awarding $5000 annually in Scholarships to graduating seniors (participation in this fund raiser may be considered when awarding student scholarships), $2000 for Project Graduation, $2000 for Spirit Week, money toward teacher appreciation events and more. The success of our entire year’s worth of funding is dependent on the sales of these raffle tickets. Please purchase today and let a PTO officer know when you need more tickets to sell. As we ask for donations from restaurants to fulfill prizes offered with this raffle, please contact us if you have a restaurant gift card to donate or a connection with a restaurant willing to donate that we can contact. For this unique drawing, the lucky raffle winners will receive the following: FIRST PRIZE: 52 Gift Certificates "Dinner Out once a week for a year" (Total dollar value of $1000) SECOND PRIZE: Various Miscellaneous Prizes (Total dollar value of $400) As always we are grateful for your donation and we appreciate your involvement in our PTO Fundraiser. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call the PTO President. Tracey Jackson 732.295.8495 Email: [email protected]
