DATE: 3rd October 2014 Issue: 2A “EID MUBARAK” TO EVERYONE The festival of Eid-ul-Adha is one of the most important Muslim festivals of the year. It marks the end of the Hajj—the special journey or pilgrimage which Muslims try to make to the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia. This year Eid will fall on Saturday 4th October, which means that families will be able to celebrate together at the weekend. At school we will be having class Eid parties in the afternoon of Monday 6th October. We hope that parents will be able to come and join us from 2:00pm to share the fun and some delicious food. It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible. Children will be able to wear their special Eid clothes as Monday will be a non – uniform day. ASSEMBLY NEWS In our assembly on Friday we prepared for the festival of Eid-ul-Adha which will be celebrated this weekend on Saturday. We remembered that Hajj is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, we shared a story about the Hajj and we heard from some pupils what Eid time means for them and their families. Quiet Time We thought about the people we know who have made the long and special journey to Saudi Arabia this year and how fulfilled they will feel when they return home to share their stories of the Hajj. FRIENDS OF THE WEEK Tashfiah is the new member of our Year 2 class. She and her family have just moved to London from Italy and they are trying to get used to living in England and speaking English. Mariyah and Melina are being really good friends for Tashfiah. They are helping her to know what to do in the classroom and in PE time. We hope that Tashfiah soon gets to know everybody and that she will be very happy at Halley EVERYBODY NEEDS GOOD FRIENDS
