Preschool Panorama
March is quite a busy month for
St. John’s Preschool this year!
During the month of March, the preschool children will
be eagerly waiting for spring to arrive! We will learn about
springtime and watch as the spring flowers bloom!
Hopefully we will get to use the playground again.
We sure love playing outside!
The preschool children will be looking forward to
St. Patrick’s Day with many leprechaun tricks, learning
about the Irish, and wearing green!
They might even discover a little gold…
The children are looking forward to celebrating Easter with
their classmates as they have their classroom parties at
the end of the month. We will be decorating Easter eggs
and going on an egg hunt. In gym class you might see the
children hopping down the bunny trail!
As always we thank you for your support!
Happy Easter to all of you!
This month’s Saturday worship with
Prayers for Healing will be on March 24, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.
(instead of the 5th Saturday, due to our Easter Vigil on the 31st at 7:30 p.m.)
We will include liturgy, a service of healing
which includes the option of laying on of
hands and anointing with oil.
The service will continue our usual format of song, word
and Holy Communion, and emphasis will be placed on God’s
desire to make us whole as we gather and as we live our lives

My Family and I extend our heartfelt thanks to St. John’s
congregation and especially Pastor Kari and Pastor Bill for the
prayers, visits and support during Chick’s battle with Alzheimer's.
Our love to each of you. Marge Davis
On behalf of the Honduras Medical Mission team,
Margie Miller would like to thank the congregation for its
outstanding support of the team’s recent trip. The team provided
medical and dental care for over 2500 individuals and distributed
250 water filters and 200 mosquito nets, along with parasite medica-
tions for all. For some of the people in these small mountain villag-
es, it was the first medical/dental care they’ve ever received.
Thank you for supporting us with your financial contributions,
orthopedic brace donations and for your prayers.
Margie Miller
The Leister family would like to thank our St. John’s family for all the prayers, cards, concerns, donations, support, and hugs extended to us upon the passing of Elwood. We have found out that he touched and influenced the lives of so many in spiritual, kind, and caring ways – much more than we knew. Hearing stories of how he helped others through his work has
made it a bit easier to deal with his passing. It has been very helpful and comforting to our family to know he had a life well lived, and the relation-
ships made and the time he was here at St. John’s are a big part of his life. Elwood was described as being caring, calm, patient, kind, compassionate
and thoughtful, to name some characteristics, and we miss him dearly. But now we find comfort knowing he is watching over us providing help
and guidance in the next phase of his journey through Christ.
David Richards would like
to thank Pastor Kari and
Pastor Bill for their visits,
prayers, and concerns dur-
ing his recent hospitalization
and recovery at Manor Care.
Thanks to our St. John’s
family; especially,
Cumberland Kids for the
Valentine’s Day card
sending their love.
WITH MUCH APPRECIATION…………………..

STEWARDSHIP STEW
It’s very enlightening look at God’s stewardship of His
Creation. One may observe God’s accuracy in the hatching of eggs…
—those of the canary in 14 days —those of the barnyard hen in 21 days
—eggs of ducks and geese in 28 days —those of mallard in 35 days
—eggs of parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days.
(notice, they are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week!)
Look at God’s wisdom in the making of an elephant...the four legs
of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other
quadruped is so made, God planned that this animal would have a
huge body...too large to live on two legs. For this reason He gave it
four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.
The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first.
A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first.
How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation...each watermelon
has an even number of stripes on the rind...each orange has an even
number of segments...each ear of corn has an even number rows.
Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains. Every bunch
of bananas has on its lowest row and even number of bananas and
each row decreases by one...so that one row has an even number and
the next row and odd number.
Amazing! There’s more… The waives of the sea roll in on shore
twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather. All grains are found
in even numbers of the stalk. God has caused the flowers
to blossom at certain times during the day.
The lives of each of us may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way
for His glory, if we will only entrust Him with our lives.
When God solves our problems, we have faith in His abilities.
When God doesn’t solve our problems, He has faith in our abilities.
At our lowest, God is our hope; at our saddest, God is our comforter.
At our darkest, God is our light: at our weakest, God is our strength.
Now THAT is stewardship!

CHRISTIAN LITERACY JANUARY 2018
Individually scheduled training workshops held at St. John’s of Highland in
Pittsburgh are available for the remainder of the year to
accommodate Christian Literacy’s seasonal commitments.
“If you have given up trying to open something,
tell a four-year-old not to touch it.” Often holidays seem more entertaining with young ones’ inquisitive minds.
“Mommy, is Green Eggs and Ham a St. Patrick’s Day story?” “Daddy, how come we
can fib to Grandma on April Fool’s Day and not the rest of the year?” “Grandpa,
was freeze tag invented at Easter time- you know, the Roman soldiers were
frozen in fear near Jesus’ open tomb?”
Celebrations continue with Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and then
summer arrives when, besides training and equipping other organizations and
families to use The Christian Literacy Series to teach basic reading skills to
children and youth, Christian Literacy’s model program will be holding BLOOM
