Lest We Forget
ANZAC Day, 25th April, marks the anniversary of the Australian and the New
Zealand Army Corps’ first landing on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915, during
the First World War. Although the Allies lost the Gallipoli campaign, this was an
important episode in Australia’s and New Zealand’s history. It was our baptism
of fire as a new and proud country.

God of our father, known of old,
Lord of our far-flung battle line,
Beneath whose awesome hand we hold
Dominion over palm and pine-
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget, Lest we forget.
The tumult and the shouting die,
The captains and the kings depart,
Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice,
A humble and a contrite heart.
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget, lest we forget.
