Sacrament of Confirmation We have over 30 children who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation next Saturday 10 June 2017 at 2pm. We would like to thank our Sacramental Team, our St Mary’s Star of the Sea School community, parents and families for your support and prayers during this preparation time and look forward to a memorable day as the children receive the promises of God, the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We arrive at the fiftieth day - the completion of the Easter Season, and the completion of the Paschal Mystery - Jesus has died, is risen, has ascended to heaven and now gives birth to his Church, by sending the Spirit upon the apostles. This feast of the gift of the Spirit is so significant for us, because it marks the handing on of Jesus’ ministry to the Church. In the Church we are guaranteed the presence of the Lord, in his sacraments, in his ministers, in the Blessed Sacrament and in his Celebrated Word. It also marks the fulfilment of our thoughts about baptism throughout this season: the gift of the Spirit which we receive in Confirmation is the ‘seal’ of our baptism, guaranteeing and confirming all that baptism achieves. In Bujuni, a remote parish deep in the heart of Uganda, bringing life into the world is often fraught with danger. Many women take great risks to get to the nearest affordable maternity ward at St Luke Bujuni Health Centre. Despite the tireless work of Sister Mary Goretti and her small staff, the health centre does not have the capacity to deal with the influx of high-risk pregnancies amongst the many expectant mothers. Sadly, the potential consequences can be tragic. With your support through Catholic Mission, Sister Goretti is hoping to expand St Luke’s and provide essential services for women and children. Please give generously to support women & children’s health through Jesus’ life-giving mission today. Freecall: 1800 257 296 catholicmission.org.au/uganda CATHOLIC MISSION APPEAL

Sacrament of Confirmation
We have over 30 children who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation next Saturday 10 June 2017 at 2pm.
We would like to thank our Sacramental Team, our St Mary’s Star of the Sea School community, parents and families for your support and prayers during this
preparation time and look forward to a memorable day as the children receive the promises of God, the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
We arrive at the fiftieth day - the completion of the
Easter Season, and the completion of the Paschal Mystery -
Jesus has died, is risen, has ascended to heaven and now gives
birth to his Church, by sending the Spirit upon the apostles.
This feast of the gift of the Spirit is so significant for us, because
it marks the handing on of Jesus’ ministry to the Church.
In the Church we are guaranteed the presence of the Lord, in his
sacraments, in his ministers, in the Blessed Sacrament and in his
Celebrated Word. It also marks the fulfilment of our thoughts
about baptism throughout this season: the gift of the Spirit
which we receive in Confirmation is the ‘seal’ of our baptism,
guaranteeing and confirming all that baptism achieves.
