So Antarctica is bigger than Europe and AustraliaIt is collectively known as the Antarctic Treaty System(ATS), and is signed by 12 countries in Washington D.C. The treaty bans military activity, and allows to the freedom to establish scientific investigation. Ice sheet and ice shelves in AntarcticaIce sheets are also known as continental glaciers, and thick ice buries most of Antarctica. The deepest ice in Antarctica is more than 10 times the height of the sears towers. The ice sheet in Antarctica formed from layers of snow pressed together millions of years ago.Ice shelves are broad, flat, floating parts of ice shelves.
