Annunciation School Newsletter Annunciationbvm.org September 25, 2019 The Kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Gospel. Mark 1:15 Dear Parents, My letter today contains information on the business side of school management. Please note the following important topics: • On the following page, you will find a letter from the Diocese of Rockford about our asbestos management plan. This annual letter is shared with school families to let them know that the Diocese and Annunciation School follow all federal and state regulations regarding asbestos abatement and management. • TADS Tuition Management - We are in the second year using TADS and I hope families are finding the various payment options provide flexibility and ease of payment. I greatly appreciate the fact that about 1/3 of our families have already made at least 25% of their total tuition payments. This cash flow is very helpful to the school. By this point, all families should have accepted their tuition agreement and made their first payment. If you have NOT made your first payment, please check your TADS account to do so promptly. Financial assistance awards have been made for 2019-2020, but if you need to discuss concerns or issues you have with your tuition account, please contact me so we can devise a plan for payment. I appreciate families who are proactive with me about issues with their account. • Fundraising Fee - As I mentioned last week, the $175 fundraising fee has been applied to the TADS accounts of families with a child in K-8 th grade. This fee goes toward our Tradition of Excellence event on 11/15 and includes your two tickets to the evening. This fee is to be paid by October 31. If you are one of the 16 families who paid their TADS account in full, please be sure to make this payment before 10/31. • Pizza Friday is off to a good start this year and I know that families appreciate this service for the students. Just a reminder that the pizza prices are $2.00 for 1 slice/1 chip, $3.50 for 2 slices/1 chip, $5.00 for 3 slices/1 chip. Children in grades 4-8 can also purchase a soda for $0.50. If you order online using SchoolSpeak, you MUST pay online too. Please be sure that the payment is confirmed. • Parking Lot at dismissal – Please have your child enter your vehicle immediately and stay in the vehicle while you are parked in the lot. For the safety of all, children should not be allowed to stand outside the cars or to wander around with friends. Also, cars are not to use the parking lane for thru traffic. All cars should enter back onto Church Road when leaving the lot. We are looking for 10 more BAKERS to make 3 DOZEN COOKIES for the reception after the Luminary Mass. Please sign up at this link if you can donate homemade or bakery cookies to share with our fellow parishioners. https://signup.com/login/entry/337034404143360073 Sincerely, Mrs. Jennifer Wardynski

Attention: Parents, Guardians and Faculty of Diocesan Schools:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) promulgated, in October of 1987, the Asbestos Hazard
Emergency Response Act (AHERA), 40 C.F.R. Part 763, the law regulates asbestos containing building
materials in schools.
In compliance with this law, the Rockford Diocese hired Cape Environmental Management to inspect and
write management plans for our parish schools. This 1988 plan gives us guidelines for our Operations and
Maintenance.
All work performed will be accomplished by the guidelines and regulations set forth by:
I.D.P.H. - Illinois Department of Public Health
U.S.E.P.A. - United States Environmental Protection Agency
N.I.O.S.H. - National Institute for Occupational Health
O.S.H.A. - Occupational Safety and Health Administration
A Management plan is on file at the school office for your inspection.
If you have any questions pertaining to our program, please contact your school official.

Hot Lunch Day in October is on Tuesday, October 15th and is from Buona. If you would like to order hot lunch for your child, you may order and pay online through SchoolSpeak. Orders are due no later than Wednesday, October 9th. Hot Lunch Day is a program run by Home and School and other school volunteers. Once a month orders may be placed for a lunch from a local restaurant. This month
students can order specific foods from Buona Beef. The food is delivered to school and distributed in the gym. Grades P – 3 will eat in the gym on that day. Ordering a hot lunch is totally optional, but unlike “Pizza Day”, orders must be placed online and in advance. If you would like your child to receive hot lunch, please go to SchoolSpeak and complete an order for each of your children and pay online. You may order through Wednesday, October 9th. No
The 8th grade class is once again collecting Box Tops for Education to raise money for their class trip to Chicago. Please send in any Box Tops that you have been saving at home ASAP and no later than October 15th. Your help in collecting these Box Tops is greatly appreciated. Box Tops will only be accepting the traditional paper Box Top squares for a short time more. They are modernizing the program to use mobile technology. There is a new app you can download on your phone. When you purchase a product with the Box Top logo you can scan your receipt and our school will automatically get the credit for the Box Top. For now we can actually get double the points for clipping the box top AND scanning receipts with Box Top items. This needs to be completed within 14 days of purchase. See the school website for more information at https://www.annunciationbvm.org/box-tops-for-education Here is a link to find out more: Box Tops for Education The Mobile App is Box Tops for Education Thank you for your continued support of this program! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

celebrate the lights in our lives - both living and deceased. Luminary Mass envelopes are being sent home to each family. If you would like to purchase any luminaries, the cost is $1 per bag. Simply place the money in the envelope and neatly write the names of the persons you would like to honor on the outside of the envelope. Completed envelopes can be turned into the school office or placed in the collection basket at Mass. We are also looking for parents who
are willing to volunteer the morning of October 9th to set up the luminary bags. All

Dear Families,
The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school!
Over the summer, participating brands have begun to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label.
Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app, available now.
The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online.
If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products.
Thanks for helping our school get what it needs!
BE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE NEW APP OR UPDATE YOUR EXISTING APP:

Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store as packages transition to the new Box Tops labels. You can still
clip these and send them to school. Please make sure each clip has a valid expiration date.
