37. Case study / Success Story to be developed – Two best only in the following format Name of the KVK, TITLE, Introduction, KVK intervention, Output, Outcome, Impact

Success story of farmer “Manbodh Barik”

1. Title of the story: “Crop diversification “–A success story

2. Name of the farmer: Manbodh Barik

3. Address: S/o Ratnamani Barik, AT: Sanatanpali, PO: Kabarapali, PIN: 768112

4. Mobile No.: 9937556270

5. Age: 37

6. Qualification: Matric

7. Category (SC/ ST/ OBC/ General): OBC

8. Broad area of success: Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairy

9. Name of technology:

i. INM in Paddy

ii. INM in Mustard

iii. Application of new herbicides in Paddy, Oilseed, Pulses

iv. Cultivation of new varieties of Groundnut and Greengram

10. Period of effort by the scientist (which year to which year):2012-13 to till now

11. Initial status: Initially the farmer was cultivating only paddy and very less amount of vegetable crop i.e 1 acre.. Maximum area was

covered with paddy without any improved technology and farm implements. So the net profit was very less.

12. KVK intervention: Trainees of Farmer Farm Women, &Vocational training programme, Also trained though ATMA training in

collaboration with KVK., Selected as beneficiaries of various FLD and OFT programmes of Plant Protection, Agronomy, Home Sc,

Animal SC. discipline. Awarded by KVK during Kisaan Mela.

13. Effort by the scientist:

Page 60: ANNUAL RepoRt - KVK Sambalpur

60

i. Conducted OFT and FLD programme in the field of the farmer

ii. Involved the farmer in different Off campus and On campus training programme as participant

iii. Motivated the farmer for purchase of various farm implements and machineries to reduce cost of cultivation, line transplanting,

cultivation of oilseed, pulses and vegetable crops in his upland area

iv. Regular monitoring to his field & village.

14. Linkage with other agencies: ATMA ,Agriculture department

15. Support provided in marketing: Paddy through PACS,MARKFED and Vegetable in local market

16. Achievements made with economics: Now the farmer is cultivating 20 ha of paddy in Kharif and 10 acres of Paddy in Rabi. Rest 10

acres of area covered with Oilseed, Pulses and vegetables crop. (Groundnut 1 acre, Sesamum 1 ac, Mustard 2 ac, Mung 2.5 ac, Banana

0.5 ac, Papaya 0.5 ac, Sweetcorn 0.5 acre and Vegetable 2 acres).

By using various technologies &, knowledge the net annual income are as follows.
