2015 Chairman’s
Message
I am honored to have served as the Andover Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board of
Directors in 2015. The year has been full of challenges and rewards as we have experienced some
wonderful changes within the Chamber organization.
In March, the Chamber said good-bye to Chamber Executive Director Denise Kelley as she took on
new endeavors of her own and welcomed Becky Wolfe as the Interim Director and who became the
President-ED in August of 2015.
Along with the change in leadership, the Chamber office also relocated with more visibility on North
Andover Road. The additional visibility to the Chamber has increased traffic flow in the office for
brochures, community information and meetings with prospective businesses.
The Board of Directors spent many months updating and amending the policies and procedures as well as the Bylaws for the
organization. The Bylaws were sent to the membership for approval. Both are reviewed and maintained yearly.
This was also a year of “firsts”. The Events Committee created the first HOMETOWN Hero Award where nominations were accepted
from members and public. The award was presented during the Andover Trojan and Andover Central Jaguars football game at
District Stadium. It was also the first year for the FESTIVAL OF TREES where businesses donated a decorated tree to be displayed
in a location for 4 days then a social event to bring the business community and citizens of Andover together. Both were a fantastic
success and we hope to carry them on into the future. A weekly email blast is being done to update the membership on Chamber
happenings as well as giving the membership an opportunity to include specials or events they may be having. This is being received
well and the Chamber email blast continually have new and interesting content.
The Annual Chamber Golf Invitational was a huge success in 2015, adding an additional 5 teams to the participation and 8 new hole
sponsors. This event attracts a lot of local Andover attention and that of the Wichita area. We look forward to the continued
participation and growth in the coming years.
The Chamber Board of Directors, along with the Membership Committee continues to look at avenues to create benefits for our
membership. We look to evaluate these benefits continually. The Chamber will always work to promote the business community
and the business community can help by becoming involved in the work. A committee structure has been developed and the
business community is encouraged to volunteer for one of the committees. There is most likely a committee you would be Interested
in becoming a part.
We are pleased to say there was an increase in businesses joining with membership investments to the Chamber. We have grown by
27 new members in 2015. As Andover continues to grow, there is a refocus on the mission of the Chamber and our membership will
also grow.
A Chamber of Commerce is about building partnerships and collaborations with businesses and for businesses. These are
happening with networking and educational events, as well as partnerships with the City of Andover and the CVB.
Thank you all for the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Board and I look forward to the great things the Chamber has in store for
2016.
Regards,
Jacob Burrow
2015 Board Chairman
Welcome to 2016! It is with great pleasure that I will serve as your 2016
Chamber Board Chairman. While I have served in this position in a prior year,
I feel a sense of excitement in the air for all that is happening within our
Chamber of Commerce and I surely want to be a part of keeping the
momentum going that was initiated under the leadership of Jacob Burrow.
During our annual Board Retreat, the Board of Directors discussed the
successful things that have happened in the last year, such as the Golf
Invitational, the Festival of Trees and the Hometown Hero Award. The Board
also talked about increasing awareness of these programs and events through our membership
and within the Andover community. We also know that our membership investors are key to
those successes and we want to continue and enhance the return on investment for our
membership—those who are renewing and those who will be new investors.
The partnerships formed with the City of Andover, including the Police and Fire Departments, and
the partnership with the CVB is vital to a strong community base and we welcome the opportunity.
Holding true to our mission of serving our members by promoting local business
opportunities and resources to contribute to the health of the local economy by forging
strong relationships among businesses, community, organizations and government will go
a long way to help us realize our future goals and aspirations. The Board of Directors challenges
our membership to become an active part in the Andover Chamber of Commerce in some way
and be a voice in our future.
Warm Regards,
Travis Griffin

Chairman’s
Message
When coming to the Andover Chamber of Commerce to serve as “interim”
Executive Director in March, there was such a support from the Andover
business community and when I was hired for the position of President-ED
in August, that support has been overwhelming and I greatly appreciate it.
While I have been around Butler County for almost 30 years, I am having a
great time learning about and working in Andover!
Many things have happened in my short time here. The Board of Directors has gone through
the policies and procedures thoroughly, updated the organizational bylaws and put into place a
process to accept nominations for the Board, voted on by the membership. They have also
worked with me to create a committee structure that will be fully implemented in 2016. Members
are welcome and encouraged to get involved in one of these committees to bring exposure to
your business and to increase your networking opportunities in the Andover area as well as
building our resources for the Andover community.
Learning about the Andover community and the businesses in it has been a priority for me. Our
communication with the membership is mostly by email so we encourage you to read what
comes across because it will have Chamber information as well as your peers information. It
could be an event or it could be great material and tools for your business.
We are excited to have our new office on North Andover Road. If you haven’t stopped by our
new office, I encourage you to do so. I would love to visit with you.
Hope to see you soon!
Becky Wolfe
