MESSAGESDear Dr Dhananjay R Shah, Chairman FBS-IAP
I am glad to note that the Annual Report 2013-2014 of FBS-IAP is being published soon. Family Benefit Scheme is one of the first welfare programs for eligible IAP members started during Dr T U Sukumaran Presidentship as IAP action plan 2011. I congratulate Dr Dhananjay R Shah-Chairman & Dr Ajoy Kumar, Hon. Secretary of FBS and all the Managing Committee Members of FBS for their good work for making the Scheme successful. I request all the state representatives to motivate younger IAP members to enroll in the scheme and increase the membership strength.
I am extremely happy that you are involved with the IAP FBS and I am sure like the role played in the Central IAP Finance Committee, you with your vision will ensure that FBS finances will be in robust condition for future.
With Best wishes and continuing success to FBS-IAP Team
“AVOID ANTIBIOTIC ABUSE”Dr Vijay N YewalePresident, CIAP 2014
I have great pleasure and privilege to write this message for the Annual report of IAP- FBS for the year 2014. The very idea to provide financial help to the families of the members of FBS in case of death of a member is humanitarian. This beneficial and benevolent scheme for the IAPians , by the IAPians and of the IAPians, a truly mutually compassionate initiative confirms our trust in each other. I congratulate Dr. Sukumaran who had the vision to initiate such a beneficiary during his tenure as the President. I must also appreciate the contribution by the founder chairman Dr. George.F.Mooliyal. I am happy to note that the Total Membership as of date has crossed 1500 and we should strive to increase the membership to much more. I take this opportunity to congratulate IAP- FBS Chairman Dr Dhananjay R Shah, IAP- FBS Hon. Secretary Dr Ajoy Kumar and all other office bearers for their splendid work in making this project a roaring success
Dr. S.S. KamathPresident-Elect, CIAP 2014
It is gratifying to note that in a short span of 3 years, the IAP FBS has mustered 1590 Life Members. However states like Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal need to organize campaigns to enroll more members. In order to increase the membership strength my suggestions would be:
1. The IAP central Office whenever it sends the Membership application form to a prospective member should enclose the IAP FBS Membership form and brochure also. In every issue of Indian Pediatrics below the President's Page a Box message should appear: "Have you joined the IAPFBS and become its
8
Member? If not kindly contact Dr Ajoy Kumar, Hon. Secretary, E-mail: [email protected] / [email protected] Mobile: 09848034599 or visit the Website www.fbsiap.org to get the Membership form and apply ASAP."
2. Similar Box Message should appear below the Editor's Page in Indian Journal of Practical Pediatrics and Academy Today and the Subspecialty News Bulletins.
3. In all Central IAP / State IAP / Sub Specialty Chapters Correspondence a rubber stamp containing the Box message should be affixed on the envelop.
4. In the State / Zonal / Sub Specialty Conferences & CME Programs as well as during PEDICONS a slide containing the Box Message should be exhibited during the Scientific Sessions in different halls.
5. The Secretary of IAPFBS should be a 'special invitee for the EB & GB Meetings and allotted a 5 minutes slot to appeal for Life Membership for IAPFBS.
Under the dynamic leadership and guidance of Dr Dhananjay Shah, Chairman, IAP FBS, I am confident that the proposed target membership of 3000, aimed by the All India Managing Committee will be achieved by the year 2018 to bless the deceased Member's family with huge Death benefit.
I take this opportunity to congratulate TEAM Hyderabad for the hard and excellent work they are doing with dedication and commitment and wish them all success in their future Endeavour.
Warm regards Dr. A ParthasarathyNational Advisor, FBS-IAP, Chennai
IAP FBS has made a spectacular progress in a short period of 3 years, which is reflected in the number of members it has created covering most states. This has been possible due to good governance of FBS office and leadership rising to the challenge. It is a matter of pride that FBS has procured own office space and meeting areas.
Every IAP member is currently aware of FBS scheme. Now, we need a strategy to make them members, several of which have already been spelled out by learned senior IAPians. I suggest Chairman may email to all IAP State and District Branch President and Secretaries, at least once a year enumerating the benefits of the scheme and send a brochure, if not already done.
Some incentives may be considered during PEDICON, group booking, and while enrolling new members. It is necessary that IAP President mentions about this program during inaugural speech at PEDICON and then in as many occasions as possible. I understand lot of IAP postage stamps is available at central IAP office, which is sought after. Use of these stamps for communication would create a bonding and may have salutary effects.
SincerelyDr Panna ChoudhuryNational Advisor, IAP Family Benefit Scheme.

Dear Friends,
It is my pleasure and privilege to write a message for the annual report of Family Benefit Scheme of IAP. FBS was my dream action plan for 2011.Eventhough IAP has implemented lot of child survival program it is for the first time that IAP has launched a program for the benefit of its family members. I congratulate Dr Ajoy Kumar-Secretary, Dr.Dhananjay Shah-Chairperson and all the members of the management committee for implementing this program in a fantastic manner. This program was started on 27th March 2011 and more than 1600 members are enrolled by now. Our target for this project should be more than 3500 members so that a family may get a benefit of at least 10 lakhs on the demise of a member. The success of this program depends on its membership. So I request all IAPians to become member of the scheme and make it a grand success.
Also I request Dr.S S Kamath our President-Elect to actively involve in this dream project.
I wish this project all the best

NATIONAL PRESIDENT IAP -2011 & CHAPTER PRESIDENT FBS
Dear Dr. Ajoy Kumar,
Greetings from Indian Academy of Pediatrics!
It is indeed heartening to note that the Family Benefit Society of IAP has sucessfully completed more than 3 years of its service to the members of the society. This mutually beneficial scheme has helped the families of deceased members. It is our endeavour to reach out as many IAP members as possible. So it is our appeal to all the members of IAP to enroll themselves as the members of the FBS and encourage other to do so.
With best wishes,Yours sincerely,Dr. Pravin MehtaHon. Secretary General
Dear friends,
I am happy to note that the dream of our past IAP President Dr T U Sukumaran to provide financial security for the family of our members has taken off well after the initial teething problems. The team of Dr Dhananjay Shah, Dr Ajoy Kumar and Dr Surendranath are doing a good job with Dr Shah providing a new vision and direction. Our aim should be to achieve a membership of 5000 within the next few years and I hope that with Dr S S Kamat at the helm of IAP in 2015, he will give a thrust to our scheme being one of the pioneers behind the Society. So let us keep up the tempo.

CHAIRMAN MESSAGE
Family Benefit Society, a new facet of our esteemed body -IAP, has just grown out of its Infancy and is now poised to progress on all fronts – be it Membership, Fraternity Benefit value or its own Financial Health. Having been baptized on March 27, 2011 under the stewardship of IAP Past President Dr. T.U. Sukumaran and further nurtured by its Founder Chairman Dr. George Moolayil, it has chosen me to take over the baton of leadership and take giant strides over the next term. Running a Financial Scheme of this sort is a big learning process and demands a lot of application of research, strategizing and planning of the numerous initiatives that need to be taken with correct design and sound execution. However, with the help of an enthusiastic and analytical set of Managing Committee members, I am hopeful of establishing this Society as a MODEL INSTITUTION for all other similar schemes that are operative pan-India. Only those schemes with FUTURE VISION & ADMINSTRATIVE EFFICIENCY will meet with solid success over a 50 year time-span. We shall add that group of PERFORMERS.
Membership of FBS is a golden opportunity for all Life Members of Central IAP, who can , for a small initial Investment and a regular annual bill payment, ensure a large lump sum financial reward for their dependents / family members - in the unchartered event of his/ her sad demise. There is a TWO-PRONGED PURPOSE of his affiliation to FBS : ONE, he gives away, on an annual basis – his small financial support to the family of every deceased FBS member during his busy lifetime – a charity that provides a “divine satisfaction” in an organised manner. SECONDLY, in return, his family is also assured of a similar – even a LARGER MONETARY SUPPORT – in the sad moment of his unlocking ties with his own family, an event that is totally unpredictable. The motto of FBS in our national language can be quoted as: KAR BHALAA to HOGA BHALAA. Anybody willing to join this noble mission is most welcome with our open arms and he will be helped to join this family in a well-informed manner.
At FBS, we are not simply interested in growing the Society in MEMBERSHIP NUMBERS or in raising the FUTURE BENEFIT MONEY for its registered members. We are now concentrating our thought processes and planning out strategies so that this NOBLE INSTITUTION attains a robust financial strength – meaning that its RESERVE FUNDS – which will, in future, act as a BIG BROTHER for executing the large FINANCIAL PROMISE, that is now being assured to all the fresh & existing members, over the entire 21st CENTURY and even beyond. This may need enacting strict discipline and rigid protocols for both – the Society Members as well as the Administrators of the Scheme. Let us all pledge to give our soulful commitment, co-operation and prompt services to this philanthropic mission – so that the FINANCIAL HEALTH and LONGEVITY of FBS is never in jeopardy. TOGETHER, WE CAN.
LONG LIVE FBS………and ……… LONG LIVE IAP

TREASURER REPORT
Dear members,
We are completing 4 years in March 2015. We have made good
progress in increasing FBS membership. As on today we are having 1600
members. Our target at time of inception was 3000 members. We achieved 50
percentage of target in last 4 years. We have helped 5 families of our members
till now by handing over a decent amount as Death Benefit Fund,
Last DBF amount paid is about 4.65 Lakhs.
We can increase the amount to 10.lakhs if we increase our
membership to 3000. In this regard I need cooperation from all the members.
Our dynamic Chairman Dr.Dhananjay Shah has suggested recognizing and
rewarding the MOTIVATOR who introduces new members.
My sincere request to all of you is to motivate at least one person to
become member in the coming 6 months so we can reach the target of 3000
Being professional person, most of time Dr is not looking for financial
security & in modern era, life is more risky too. So financial security is multi
fold increased & smart people always adds up cover & our F.B.S is best
covering offered at least cost. FBS is run by you, made for you & meant for
you.Its non-profit making society; its brotherhood way helping in unforeseen
circumstances to FBS family. Young must get enrolled because they have many
liabilities & elder must be enrolled as they are at higher risk.In short be under
umbrela cover of FBS . Amount you pay is tiny, yet reward is robust. I hope, you
will be now not hesitant to be F B S member; donot see present strength but
see by 2020, FBS will be paying > 10 lacs.
With warm regard
JAI IAP JAI FBS.
Dr. Ashwin J. Sanghavi
Vigilance Officer
Dear Friends in IAP,
Our Family Benefit Scheme, a preschooler now, is in its 4th year since
inception. This scheme has been conceptualized as a mutually beneficial,
compassionate, benevolent scheme of Indian Academy of Pediatrics for the
Members, by the Members and of the Members.
For this unique project, the first of its kind for the welfare of the
family of IAP members to flourish in full bloom, each one amongst us has to
take the initiative to convince our fellow Pediatricians to be involved with this
scheme. Let us hope the untiring efforts of our founder team are well
augmented by the present Managing Committee members & soon our
membership will reach the magical figure of 300 to enable a death benefit of
about Rs.10 lacs to the family of the deceased.
Best wishes for an equal and parallel growth for FBS along with our
parent body IAP.
Yours in IAP,
Dr Remesh Kumar.R
Vice Chairman (South Zone)

Respected Academicians & Friends,
I feel greatly honored to write few words before our Esteemed IAP
members about the dream project of our National President 2011,
Dr T.U Sukumaran which was well carried out by the Founder Chairman
Dr George F Moolayil, Secretary Dr Ajoy Kumar, Treasurer M.Surendranath &
the whole team.
We feel proud that FBS-IAP had started own office at the Hyderabad,
Head Quarter by the initiation of Hyderabad members.
Now the baton is well taken by highly active, thoughtful & high
visionary Dr Dhananjay Shah with our founder Secretary & Treasurer. The
present growth of FBS was not possible without active involvement of Drs Ajoy
& Surendranath. The present team will do great job with the new ideas &
visions of Dr Dhananjay Shah. Our National advisory members had taken keen
interest for proper growth of FBS.
It's not only the responsibilities of the office bearers but also the
moral duties of EB members of FBS-IAP & the members of IAP to reach the
target of membership of FBS-IAP from 1590 to at least 3500 by 2017 (March) &
5000 within 2020 ( March) otherwise members wouldn't get the desired
benefits.
As a Vice - Chairman (EZ), I had to work hard for motivation of my East
Zone IAP members for enrollment their names into FBS-IAP scheme, so that
maximum benefits could be availed by the all members of IAP.
So I appeal to all the members of East Zone to be the member of FBS-
IAP.
Please come forward & join hands for this noble work which was
started by our National President 2011 Dr T.U Sukumaran.
Long Live FBS- IAP
Dr Arup Roy
Vice- Chairman (East Zone)
The family benefit scheme of IAP is the only social activity focusing
towards the welfare of its members. The scheme awarded to us, the team
Hyderabad is a great challenge, which is executed with dedication and
diligence, settling the claims very promptly.
FBS-IAP needs further thrust from all of us to make it very productive
and thriving. Each Rupee contributed by the member goes to the family in
need. Indeed it is the scheme of “EACH FOR ALL AND ALL FOR EACH”, which
strengthens brotherhood and togetherness among the IAP members.
Dr M Indra Shekhar Rao
Advisor, Hyderabad Team, FBS-IAP

I am happy to note that FBS- IAP is bringing out its Annual report 2013-
2014 on completion of three years. I am sure that it will be highlighting the
activities and achievements of this novel scheme. Happy to note that
membership strength is increasing every day. I would appeal to all IAP
members to join this innovative scheme not only to strengthen the scheme
but also make it attractive to the beneficiaries i.e., families of IAP members.
Under the coordinated efforts of its office bearers, under the Chairmanship of
Dr. Dhananjay Shah and dynamic Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar it is bound to
achieve further heights.
Wishing you more success in the years to come and all the best
With regards
Dr. C. Suresh Kumar
President, IAP-AP State 2014
Dear esteemed members,
FBS IAP is doing a commendable job of helping the families of those
Pediatricians who have served the children of the country throughout their
life in selfless manner. To increase the fraternity contribution, it is mandatory
to increase the membership for this noble cause. I appeal to all the members
to motivate their friend IAPians to join hands for a good cause which in turn
will benefit their own family members at some point of time.
Thanks.

Dear IAP members
FBS is an excellent scheme to ensure financial buffer to the family in the time
of distress of loss of life. I am really impressed with the extremely
professional and transparent way in which the scheme is managed by Dr Ajoy
Kumar and team. I very strongly recommend that every member should grab
this opportunity to join the scheme without any hesitation and delay.
Regards
Dr Satish Pandya
Gujarat State Representative -2011-2014, FBS-IAP
Respected colleagues
We have started well regarding FBS. Lot of efforts has to be put by us, to
accelerate the pace of membership drive to make the FBS, a large tree - like
Banyan tree for the benefit of IAP families.
My few humble suggestions are....
1. There should be at least two phone calls in a month among coordinators &
opinion makers. One in first week for planning & second in last week to sum up
the progress of the month
2. Phone call from Chairman FBS to Zonal Vice Chairmen, Zone to State
Coordinators, State to
District office bearers will ensure the momentum. It should be continuous -
ongoing mission.
3. Please visit the house of IAP colleague after evening OPD, preferably with a
FBS member. Have a cup of tea / coffee & after explaining n convincing get
the FBS form filled, which we must carry along with us. We have to obtain
multi city cheque, photos & some documents which are generally we have at
home or can be collected later.
Start with generous minded members first, Later to other members, needing
some pursuance & your effective influence. These tips given to me by Dr
Dhananjay Shah, Chairperson FBS, has helped me to make 18 FBS members
from Alwar out of total 21 IAP members. Please treat this as philanthropic
mission and also a self help project. We can touch membership figure of 3000
soon and figure of 5000 will not be far away.
Every FBS scheme member is humbly requested to make at least one &
preferably two members using once goodwill & efforts. By this spirit & zeal we
can double the membership number in near future.
Thanks for patience reading. Kindly enrich this with your inputs & propagate it
for the benefit of FBS mission.

pleasure in congratulating the central IAP and the FBS team for initiating and
working towards growth of such a innovative concept for the benefit of our

The scheme has a noble objective. There is need for involvement of every

fellow members and make the scheme more viable and vibrant.
We started well.....lets consolidate and make the scheme grow with new
dynamic ideas and persistent efforts.
Lets make FBS sought after by every member.

All the members of FBS society should motivate fellow IAPians to

Dear IAP Members,
I am privileged to write this message for the annual report 2013-2014
of the IAP FBS which is in its 4th year of its existence. It is heartening to note
that the membership of IAP FBS has gained strength and some families of IAP
members have received some benefits. We have reached this milestone
because of the constant support and contribution of IAP-FBS team and all
members of the IAP FBS. However, let's strengthen this scheme further in
terms of membership to increase the benefits for the families of IAP
