Thousands of women haven benefited in this more than 10 years,
of the encouraging, empowering initiative of Kamalini Vocational
Training Centre. Protsahan opened Kamalini in a rented room in
the urban village of Shahpur Jat. Since then, the founding trustees
of Protsahan, by Dr. J. Kunnacherry, Ms. Monica Rita de Souza and
Ms. Maria Mendes have mobilized hundreds of others to share
their skills and knowledge with marginalized and needy women.
The celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Protsahan Kamalini
Vocational Training Centre in Shahpur Jat coincided with the first
six-month batch completing their training in the new Kamalini
campus developed by Educational and Development Initiatives in
in Haryana. What started small continues to blossom – like the
abundance of lotus flowers that inspired the name of Kamalini. In
the pages that follow you will read how migrants from rural areas,
school drop-outs, domestic workers with limited education gain
skills and education to bring their families ahead.
All of this thanks to the continual self-giving of our staff and
volunteers to guide the beneficiaries. For this we are sincerely
thankful. We are pleased to report a long-time volunteer has
joined as a Trustee, Mrs. Annie Moraes.
We thank our CSR sponsors, donors and partner foundations –in
particular, Main Tendue Trust, Bollore Logistics India, the British
Charity Fund, Give India and the UN Women’s Guild of Geneva –
for making Kamalini continue to bloom.
