Scouting in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamor-gan continues to grow; this is thanks to the enormous dedication and commitment of every single volunteer who has been working to make Scouting in their Sections, Groups Districts and Area outstanding. We now have some very strong foundations from which to build. Some of this year’s work has been very vis-ible and other things have been below the surface. However, we’re now seeing many developments taking shape and having an im-pact on the quality and growth of Scouting in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. This year represents a big step towards our longer-term vision. In the Groups and Districts that make up the Area we have empowered even more young people. We are showing how much we value our volunteers and we have more of them than ever. We are becoming more diverse and inclusive. We have continued to strengthen our management and leadership to ensure that all of this is underpinned by sound and sustainable decision making and actions that support our strategy.

The growth of the Area Activities Team, train-ing opportunities and the review of the permit scheme has meant that we have continued to provide and expand an incredible range of ad-ventures and learning experiences for young people including archery, hill walking, climb-ing, water activities, target shooting, caving, Swimming Gala, Scout Post, Duke of Edin-burgh Scheme and the Cardiff Scout & Guide Gang Show.

The whole of the Cardiff and Vale Area team wishes all those in the Welsh Jamboree Con-tingents the very best for their involvement at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015. Working towards our shared vision ensures that we co-ordinate and sustain our effort for maximum impact and the results so far are very promising. New Groups and Sections continue to open and we have seen good Scouting in many areas become great. There are countless positive stories of where we are making a big difference and of first class support being pro-vided. With demand higher than ever, there is every indication that our decade-long growth looks set to continue. We launch compass in the next few months this will totally change the way we support scouting.

Scouting in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan is innovative and exciting. We want everyone to be part of the adventure. Scouting makes a difference to people’s lives – young people, volunteers and whole communities can ben-efit in extraordinary ways. This report sets out just some of our remarkable achievements this year. We hope you will join us for another exciting year ahead.
