Namaskar !!! On behalf of the staff, the students and my own behalf I extend a warm welcome to all of you to the Prize Distribution and Annual Day Function of the school. We are indeed privileged to have in our midst as the Chief Guest, Dr A S Anand, Ex-chief Justice of India, having served from 10 Oct 1998 to 31 Oct 2001. Dr Anand completed his studies in Jammu, Lucknow University and University College, London and enrolled as an advocate at the Bar Council on 09 Nov 1964. Having practiced in Constitutional Law. Criminal Law, Election Law at the Punjab and Haryana High Court from 26 May 1975, he became the Chief Justice, J & K High Court on 11 May 1985 was transferred to the Madras High Court on 01 Nov 1989. He was appointed as the Judge of Supreme Court of India on 18 Nov 1991. He was also the Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission. Dr Anand has also been conferred with Padma Vibhushan, the Second Highest Civilian Award in India. Hon’ble Dr Justice Anand has always been rated an extremely methodical man of scientific temperament and regarded as stickler for well drafted pleadings and for accurate arguments. Hon’ble Sir, We wish to express our humble gratitude to you for having spared your valuable time to grace the occasion with your benign presence. We welcome you, Sir. Ladies and Gentlemen, It has been an exciting year at Bal Bharati Public School, building on our strategic priorities, in fall 2013 we moved into execution mode on a range of new initiatives. At the same time we continued to invest in the activities and infrastructure that have defined Bal Bharati School since its founding and that distinguishes it among Delhi / NCR Schools.
Times are changing, so is the educational landscape. This generation needs a global perspective and a fresh pedagogy keeping in sync with the changing times. In the recently concluded Times School Survey – 2014, an initiative of the TOI group, the school ranked at an enviable No.6 position amongst Noida & Greater Noida Schools. Educational World: Indian School Ranking The Educational World Indian School Rankings published every September based upon the public perception rated and ranked the school at 89th position amongst the leading 14,800 CBSE schools of the country and the numerous CISCE schools of the country. The school won the 55th rank in the U.P State Ranking and was placed at commendable 6th position in City Rankings.

AWARDS, ACCOLADES & APPRECIATIONS
• Gobar Times Green School Award Ceremony The Centre for Science and Environment held the Gobar Times – Green School Award Ceremony announcing the year’s Top -20 Green Schools in Apr 2012-13. The School bagged the Best Manager’s Trophy at a glittering award ceremony held at the India Habitat Centre. Mr Ramakant Goswami, Minister of Law and Transport was the Chief Guest.
• Top School Award 2014 The school has been selected amongst the top 100 schools of Uttar Pradesh and also among the top 10 schools of District Gautam Budh Nagar by a survey conducted by www.shikshaadvisor.com. Mrs Anupama Motwani, Vice Principal on behalf of the Principal was nominated to receive the award on 15 Feb 14 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ghaziabad. The ceremonial honour was bestowed upon by Shri Raj Babbar (Hon’ble Member of Parliament) and Shri Maninder Singh, former Indian Cricketer. • C-4 HT Survey. We share our pride and joy in the recognition extended to us by the Hindustan Times, C-fore Survey, Ranking the school in Top Ten Schools of Noida. • Education World : Indian School Rankings. The school has been ranked at 89th position among leading schools of the country in a quality survey conducted by Education World Magazine. The school won the admirable 54th Rank in U P State Ranking. The school was placed at commendable 06 position in city ranking. • Best Practices in Inclusive Education. The Expressions India, The National Life Skills, Value Education and School Wellness Programmes under the aegis of CBSE held its Annual Award Ceremony, i.e. the Life Empowerment Awards for School 2012-13 on 30 Aug 13. INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL ACTIVITIES • The school organized approx. 05 video conferences with various schools in different countries across the globe between 18 May to 30 July 13. • Students of Classes 6 to 10 prepared and presented a street play based on the values of Commonwealth Games Federation—Humanity, Equality and Destiny. A few special needs students took part in the street play portraying social equality and harmony. This activity planned under the Commonwealth Class, gave the students opportunity to showcase their work as part of Commonwealth engagements.

Face to Faith- Video Conference
A video conference under the Face to Faith Programme was held on 19th September 2013 with the De La Salle Zobel School in Philippines. Students from classes IX-XI participated in the videoconference. Ms Simmi Kher from Tony Blair Foundation facilitated the videoconference. An exchange of thoughts on diversity of religion and festivals, school routine and various games and sports played by the individual schools, were discussed. Teacher Exchange Programme
Keeping in mind a global vision to enrich the teaching community in the international back-drop, the school is presently engaged in a teacher exchange programme in collaboration with Cleveden Sec. School, Glasgow, UK, wherein M Schaschke, Biology teacher, visited the school from 21st October to 25th October, 2013 as a part of the British Council Connecting Classroom partnership programme. Mrs Aruna Sharma, TGT (Geo) visited U K and participated in the Global School Partnership Programme.

MERITORIOUS ACHIEVEMENTS – THE PROUD WINNERS • An International Art Competition was organized by ‘Mission Green’ in the session 2012-13. Devojit Modak (VII) and Munira (V) won second and third prize respectively. Both of them were the proud recipients of cash award worth Rs.2000/- each and animation DVDs. • The Botanic Garden of Indian Republic, under the aegis of Ministry of Environment and Forest, Govt of India organized a Poster Making Competition on the theme ‘Water and Biodiversity’ on 22 May 2013 at the Botanic Garden of India Republic office, Noida. Rachayta Majumdar (IX) participated in the competition and her Poster on the subject ‘Water is life’ was adjudged as ‘Painting of Merit’. The painting has also been published in the Souvenir released by UNESCO, observing year 2013 as International Year of Water Co-operation.
• Times of India Painting Competition
The school team comprising Mehak Devgun (XI), Piyush Punj (XII), Rachyta Majumdar (IX) and Devojeet Modak (VII) stood second in the ‘Times NIE ART Competition – Celebrating 175 years of the Times of India’. As many as 1200 NIE member schools participated in the competition. The winners were awarded cash prize of Rs.2000/- each.

All India Inter School Crossword Championship Sponsored by CBSE. Beating 60 schools from Delhi/NCR the school team comprising Aryan Upadhyay (IX), Harshita Goel (X) and Deeksha (XI) won the City Round on 12 Nov 13 at Springdales School, Pusa Road, Delhi. The national rounds was held in Dec 13. The contest across the cities of India was organized on the centennial of crossword for Cls VIII to XII students. Bee State Level Painting Competition

CLUBS ASTRONOMY CLUB The Astronomy Club of the school in association with Z-life held a session on handling of telescope with 78 club members from Cls IV and V.
Introduction To Astronomy Club And Our Cosmic Address The students were shown a video of the journey of Earth. They were also briefed about aliens and Voyager Spacecraft which is in search of extraterrestrial life. Children wrote a letter to an alien and also mentioned their cosmic address to the alien.
• The WORLD SPACE WEEK activities i.e. Hydro Rocket Launching,
Video screening on Yuri’s maiden voyage to space, Audio-Visual Intersection Quiz, Poster Making - Space Settlement Designs, Visit to Nehru Planetarium were organized by the Astronomy Club between 04 and 10 Oct 13.
• ISS Earth KAM workshop was conducted in the school on 23 Oct 13 It is an educational programme sponsored by NASA that enables students to take pictures of their own planet from a digital camera on board the International Space Station (ISS) via a web interface. The project gave students a unique opportunity of viewing the earth from space.
• The Night Sky Observation sessions were held at the Tiger Den Resort in Sariska (Rajasthan) from 06 to 08 Oct 13. This session introduced the concepts of directions, constellations, planets and deep sky objects with their telescopic observation to the students. ‘Astrophotography’ taught the students the basics of photography of celestial objects.
• Five students along with Mrs. Bindu Soman (TGT Phy) attended a workshop on the Comet ISON at Nehru Planetarium, organized in collaboration with SPACE. The resource person was Dr. Ratnashree, Director, Nehru Planetarium. • Following sessions of the Astronomy Club in association with Z-life were held during the period under report.

ENVIRONMENT CLUB
• World Earth Day celebrations Under the aegis of Environment Club, the celebrations were held in the school premises on 22 Apr 13. Cl IX students sang the earth day song thereby appealing the students to save earth. An Inter Class Painting Competition for the mass awareness on topics – ‘Save Earth’, ‘Water Conservation’ and ‘Global Warming’ was held. A documentary on the effects of pollution was screened in the school Auditorium for Cls VI – VIII. Saplings of beautiful Palm trees were planted to enlarge the green zone of the school. Children also took a pledge for saving Mother Earth from the impending threats of global warming, pollution, deforestation and draught.
• Green Peace Organization (NGO) conducted an awareness programme for the Club members on 20 Jul 2013. The Club members prepared a model on Forest Ecosystem to explain the rich bio-diversity of the flora and fauna. Short movies on Climate changes were also screened during the occasion. • The club has registered 203 students from Cls VIII to X for the forthcoming Green Olympiad, conducted by TERI in collaboration with CBSE. • The ‘Ozone Preservation Day’ was observed on 23 Aug 13. Various events like slogan writing, folder making, awareness quiz, poster making and painting were organized for classes VI-XI . • 203 students appeared for Green Olympiad Examination held under the aegis of CBSE on 31 Aug 13. Certificates were provided for participation. • A workshop on e- waste was conducted by a team of Attero volunteers on 25 Oct 2013 to sensitize children regarding the proper disposal and recycling of old used Waste Electrical Electronic Equipments (WEEE). A Short movie and a power point presentation was screened. As a follow up action, two competitions were held for which the winners were rewarded with a trophy and a certificate by the Attero delegates on 11 Nov 13.
• An Anti- Cracker Drive was organized between 25 Oct and 01 Nov 13 by the Student Council and club members to sensitize the students. A pledge was taken in the school assembly to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali.
• General awareness was created among the public /children, about safe drinking water and to avoid usage of Polythene bags.

• Under the Save the Sparrow Campaign, the Gardening Club has placed nest boxes and bird feeders all around the school campus. • An award ceremony was organized by ‘ATTERO’ on 13.12.2013 in the school auditorium to felicitate the champions of e-waste drive. The role of Rishabh Khanduri (X), Arnav (X) Sukriti Garg (VIII) and Varun P Singh (VII) was well appreciated. • Earth Hour is a World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The Environment Club of the school distributed pamphlets encouraging households, business houses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour between 08.30 and 09.30 p.m. on 22 Mar 14 in the nearby vicinity. Our sincere efforts in the past 04 years to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change has slowly set the pace for a mind change among the masses. CBSE has recognized the efforts made by the school in the past and have included this exercise amongst, one of the ‘Best Practices’ implemented in CBSE Schools. • Paryavaran Mitra Award Ceremony. Organised by the Ministry of Environment & Forests and Centre for Environment Education, the School bagged an appreciation certificate for exemplary work in the field of environment at a glittering award ceremony held at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The school participated in the ‘Paryavaran Mitra Programme’ under which a project on ‘Save Electricity’ was sent to Paryavaran Mitra Secretariat (CEE), Ahmedabad.Mrs N Bhatnagar (TGT – Sc & Tech) was awarded for the exemplary work done in the field of ‘Save Energy’ project.
GARDENING CLUB The Gardening Club students in a joint venture with Interact Club Community of the school carried out successful propogation of creepers and climbers on 09 Oct 12. Efforts are on to grow herbal and kitchen plants. This was put on display for parents and students during the PTM held in January.
HEALTH & AWARENESS CLUB • Student Parliament on Health (SPOH) was organized by HRIDAY in collaboration with Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) on 08 and 09 Apr 13. Mr N C Joshi, Secretary General Rajya Sabha enlightened the student delegates on the procedures of Parliament in carrying out its various functions. Tripti Lal (XII) was selected to represent as Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare. T K Vishwanathan, Secretary General, Loksabha gave away the prizes to the delegates. 30 leading schools of Delhi and NCR participated in the above session. • In order to disseminate information to the student community an appeal to create awareness on ‘Organ Donation’, as one of the most noble ways of keeping our loved one’s memory alive and saving another life was addressed by the Club members.

• The Thumbs Up ! Thumbs Down ! is a WHO funded Project run by ‘Breathe California of Sacramento’. The project deals with the critical issues pertaining to the use of Tobacco in Television and Film industry. Members of the Health Club are a part of the basic research team who on a regular basis, review and grade the latest movies to depict the usage of tobacco. The data base was forwarded by the Club members to the WHO Head Quarters suggesting that on an average 15 – 20 kids become addicted to tobacco while emulating their favourite film stars.
• An appeal to create awareness on ‘Organ Donation’, as one of the most noble ways of keeping our loved one’s memory alive and saving another life, was addressed by the Club members through dissemination of information to the student community. In this regard an appeal was made to the parents of our school on 19 Oct 13 (PTM) to pledge and support the initiative taken by the students and teachers. More than 160 consents have been collected to make this anatomical gift by the parents. An open facebook page has been created for the same i.e. www.facebook.com/healthclubbbpsnoida.
• A workshop dealing with the Adolescent Issues in particular with the girl child was organized under the aegis of Procter and Gamble on 07 Sep 13 by the Club. Girl students of Cls VI – VIII along with their mothers, attended the same.
• ‘Walk for Health’ a walkathon in collaboration with HRIDAY, Public Health Foundation of India, Max Bupa and World Heart Federation organized a campaign to encourage students to adopt walking into their everyday life at the National Stadium, New Delhi on 20 Oct 13. Aditi and Harshita (X) and Rachayta (IX) participated in the above event and bagged a cash prize of Rs.500/- each in the Poster Making Competition. “Investment in the health of children is an investment in the health of the nation”.
• A Parent Advocacy programme was organised on “Diabetes, Thyroid and Heart Diseases” on 7th December, 2013 in the school auditorium. The resource person was Dr. Nishith Chandra- Director and Chief of Cardiovascular Sciences, Fortis Hospital, Noida and Escorts Heart Institute, Delhi. • Under the aegis of the Health Club, an interactive session handling pre-adolescent issues was conducted by Dr Nalin Nagpal, Senior Consultant (Internal Medicine), Apollo Hospital, Delhi on 09 Dec 13. The queries related to Sex Education put up by the boys was well handled by Dr. Nagpal.
INTERACT CLUB
• In order to provide relief and support to the survivors of the massive destruction in Uttarakhand caused by flash floods and landslides, 94 staff members donated an amount of Rs.1,15,646/- to ‘GOONJ’, an NGO involved with the relief operations. • A Blood Donation Camp was organized by the Interact Club of the school on 03 Aug 13 in association with Rotary Club, Noida, Blood Bank. The support and kind cooperation of the Staff and Parent Community On a Mission

made the camp a grand success. 52 donors donated 1 unit (450 ml) of blood each. This volume is 13% of a person’s blood volume in the body. The time taken by each donor to donate blood was approx. 7 to 10 minutes.
• Ashish Kumar (XI), Priyanka Gaur (XI), Astha Vadera (X), Shivani Grover (X), Srishti Agarwal (X) and Anesha Rawat (XI) along with Mrs M Sehgal (I/C Interact Club) attended the District Interact Leadership Assembly held at Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai on 03 Sep 13.
• The Interact Club during the period under report organized following events :
1. Creating Awareness and Sensitivity about differently abled. 2. Donation to all India Federation of the Deaf. 3. Sale of indigenously designed and hand made CHRISTMAS and NEW YEAR Cards
to raise funds for philanthropic activities. 4. Organised cleanliness drive on 21 Dec 13 in the sector – 21 Noida market.
Joy of Giving Week
• Students of Cls III – V made note books out of the pages left in their copies of the previous year to donate to the Ankurians. Approximately more than 150 note books were distributed by the primary school students while celebrating the ‘Joy of Giving’.
• To be a part of “The Power of Reuse” campaign, children were asked to contribute and collect material like old clothes, books, water bottles, old sheets etc for the NGO ‘GOONJ’. In our endeavour to implement ‘Shramdaan’ in true spirit and sense, the students of Cls VI – XII washed and ironed the curtains of their respective class rooms. The money saved out of this shramdaan activity was being donated to Sorkha Village, Sector – 62, Noida for construction of a toilet.
HERITAGE CLUB
The Heritage Club members of the school visited Lodhi Gardens in association with INTACH to learn about the varied architecture of the different dynasties.
ROBOTICS CLUB
Middle and Secondary students enrolled with the club studied the ‘dragging mechanism’ in the making of a Robot and used it with High Torque Motor to build a ‘Robotics Hand’ for picking and placing of the objects.
CREATIVE HANDS CLUB
Technique of Glass Painting used in old Tiffany Lamps was taught to the students which was enjoyed by the students as always.
SUDOKU CLUB
Students of the club solved number of puzzles that helped them to build logical and critical thinking skills. They challenged each other to achieve perfection in minimalistic time.
ANIMATION CLUB Students made movies on ‘Winter Carnival’ and ‘Solar System’ using flash in animation.

• Sarwagya Prasad (V) was awarded a Silver Medal by the Science Olympiad Foundation for his outstanding achievement in the recently concluded 12th National Cyber Olympiad. He stood 2nd in the State of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
• Vinamr Bajaj (VII) secured 17th rank in the state of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the 6th International Mathematics Olympiad. • NTSE 2013-14 Keeping alive the tradition of providing best of opportunities to the students for excelling in competitive exams which are held at national level, the school has initiated and organized coaching classes in collaboration with Gyan Sanchar for selected students of Class X. 18 students were shortlisted and engaged in rigorous coaching for the National Talent Search Examination 2013-14 that was held in Nov 2013.

NIE/HT/TIMES STUDENT’S WORKSHOP
• A workshop on pottery was conducted for the students of Primary School on 12 Nov 13 by Mr Dalchand, an NIE consultant. A live demonstration of pottery making on the potter’s wheel was the highlight of the workshop.
• Mrs. Priyanka Chitkara (Special Educator) along with three students from classes X and XI attended a workshop on Global Dignity Sessions- to create awareness and promote dignity amongst school students on 23 Oct 13. The event was organized at Fortis Hospital Noida. The resource person was Dr. Samir Parikh , Head of Department of Mental Health & Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Hospital. The objective was to help teachers and students understand the importance of dignity in their lives and others.
• A workshop on Anger Management was held on 28 Jan 2014 for students of Cls VII & VIII. Mrs Mamta Sandhu was the resource person from NIE.
CAREER COUNSELLING WORKSHOP
• A Career Counselling and Guidance Workshop was organized for the Sr School students on 27 Aug 13 by Mr. Ankit Kapoor, Resource Person, Pratham Group. The workshop was intended to bring in clarity in the thought process of students, while choosing their respective careers.
Career Fair The school held its annual career fair in the school premises on 31 Oct 13 (Thursday). The career advisory programme saw students helping them choose a career best suited for them based on personality, aptitude and interest. Main attractions of the fair were :

A parent advocacy workshop was conducted for Cls Mont-I, II and Cl I on 3rd Aug 2013. The topic for the workshop was “Parental Involvement for the growth and development of the child”. The workshop was conducted by the School Counsellor (Dr. Priyanka Sharma), Special Educators (Ms Aditi Gaur and Mrs. Priyanka Chitkara), and staff members Mrs M Agarwal, Mrs N Mathur and Mrs P Chand. The school held its 11th Annual Scholar Badge/Blazer Ceremony on 06 Aug 13. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Premchand Palety, Chief Executive, C4 Survey. Shri OP Bhutani, IPS (Retd) Chairman, School Managing Commitee, and Mr.Suraj Prakash, Secretary, BBPS Noida, were also present to honour the awardees. REVERBERATIONS-2013
The school organised its 11th Inter-school Cultural Festival for the session 2013-14 from 30th July to 2nd August 2013. 22 schools participated in the 4 day long festival with the host school winning and passing on the overall trophy to Somerville School, Noida.

ANNUAL DAY
The Annual Day and Prize Distribution of the school was held on 23 Nov 2013. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Farooq Abdullah, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Govt of India. The event received great reviews from all quarters.
SPICMACAY
Under the SPICMACAY VIRASAT series 2013, a lecture-cum-demonstration programme on ‘Pandavni Recital’ by Smt Teejan Bai was held on 06 Dec 13.

AASHIRWAD AND FAREWELL CEREMONY Was held on 01 Feb 14 for the students of Cl XII appearing for the Board Examinations in Mar 2014.
REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS
A special assembly was held on 26 Jan 14 to commemorate the Republic Day and Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti. Flag hoisting, followed by cultural programme by Satya House and distribution of sweets among the students were the highlights of the day.

CAMPS /TOURS / VISITS LOCAL TRIPS
• 57 students of Cls IV & V along with 7 teachers visited Red Fort, Delhi on 20 Apr 13.
• 74 students of Cls III – V accompanied by Class Teachers visited the Glorious Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Sikandra in a day long trip to the historic city of Agra on 04 May 13.
• On 12 Aug 13, a batch of 131 students and 09 teachers went to the National Zoological Park, Delhi as a part of Integrated Project Based Learning.
• As a part and parcel of the Formative Assessment, 184 students of Cl VIII visited the Mother Dairy Plant, Patparganj, Delhi from 06 to 08 Aug 13.
• As part and parcel of the FA-II Assigned Activity of Science and Technology, 130 students of Cl VI and 06 teachers went on a field trip to Pilkhuwa Handloom Industry, Ghaziabad on 31 Aug 13.

• On 07 and 21 Sep 13, a batch of 111 students of Cl II accompanied by 8 teachers visited Shankar’s International Dolls Museum, Delhi as a part of Integrated Project Based Learning.
• On 24 Sep 13 a batch of 140 students of Cl III along with 09 teachers visited Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi as a part of Integrated Project Based Learning.
• On 26 Sep 13 140 children of Montessori-I, along with 08 teachers and 04 Sahayikas visited Swarn Jayanti Park, Ghaziabad.
• On 04 Oct 13, 585 students of Cls VI to XII, escorted by 33 teachers, visited Worlds of Wonder, an Amusement and Water Park at Sec 38A, Noida.
• On 23 Oct 13, 166 children of Montessori-II along with 08 teachers and 02 Sahayikas went to the Mahamaya Park, Noida.

• As part and parcel of the FA-III Activity of Hindi, 183 students of Cl VI and 09 teachers went on a field trip to National Zoological Park, New Delhi on 21 Dec 13.
• 144 students of Cl-I along with 06 teachers went for a fun filled trip to Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal, Noida on 05 Feb 14.
• 232 students of Cls III & IV accompanied by staff went for Delhi Darshan on 13 Mar 14. • 84 students of Cls IV – VI with 09 teachers visited Amritsar-Wagah Border on 14 & 15 Mar 14. • 20 students from Middle and Secondary School along with 2 teachers left for Kulu Manali on a five-day educational cum recreational trip between 22.03.14 and 27.03.14.
OUT STATION TRIPS • A trip to Dalhousie was organized for the students of Middle and Secondary
Dept. between 20 and 24 May 13. A group of 83 students were accompanied by 08 staff members.
• On 05 and 06 Oct 13, a batch of 66 students from Cls IV & V along with 08 teachers visited Jaipur. It was a fun filled 2-day long trip where children got an opportunity to explore the various aspects of life which are of great educational, cultural and historical importance.

• On 05 Oct 13, 32 students from Cls VI-XII along with 03 teachers went for a day long trip to Agra-Fatehpur Sikri.
Visit to National Science Centre, Delhi
25 students from Cls VII – XI visited National Science Centre to witness City Level Science Fair 2013. The students interacted with the participants and picked up ideas to make innovative Science models.
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
