Dear Friends of QMed
I am happy to present to you the Annual Report for the third Financial Year of operations. While we
continued to do several workshops and lectures, there are certain highlights of this year that I would
like to share. We did preconference workshops in two Undergraduate Student Conferences. We
always accept such requests because we believe that if we educate this audience today, they will
evolve into better health professionals. I presented a poster at the Annual Cochrane Colloquium this
year (held in Madrid, Spain) and again went through several learning opportunities which will translate
into better learning for our friends in India. A lecture in a patient oriented audience became a first step
towards one of our future plans – patient education in health information literacy. Lectures to FAIMER
Fellows (medical teachers who go through this Fellowship work deeply in the areas of improvement of
medical education), is turning out to be another method of inculcating the importance of our training,
in the medical set up. And finally another first this year was a “Train the Trainer program” for faculty of
a medical college. I must admit that this was an experiment; we learned that we need to do much
longer duration programs for this project.

What people said about our training programs
The QMed knowledge workshop was really very interesting. Previously random searches in
PubMed was really a long process. Now I know how to go about and search specific articles
and journals. Polakshee Gogoi, PG Student, Manipal Virus Research Centre, Karnataka I was not expecting the session to be so informative and useful. It’s very difficult not to sleep in a
presentation that’s for three hours and surprisingly it was so well done that I could pay attention
through-out..V Sundar Kumar, Phd Scholar, Health Science Faculty, Manipal University,
Karnataka
If you can teach the Library section of the university more on this and they can give sessions to
faculty or PG for an hour or so for a couple of days.i think it will serve the purpose more. Jyothi
Thomas, Faculty / Practitioner, Health Science Faculty, Manipal University, Karnataka
I did not know how to search through pubmed. This training program really helped for easy and
relevant search. Shreelatha.S, Clinical Research Associate, Institute of Ayurveda and Integrative
Medicine, Bengaluru
