ABOUT US

Humanitarian Resources International Foundation (HRIF)

is a nonprofit organization. The organization was founded on

the 3rd of June 1997 and has since helped thousands of people

around the world who live in disaster areas, are recovering from

disasters or live below the poverty line. HRIF is a relief, development

and advocacy organization that is dedicated to working with the world's

most vulnerable people. The organization serves all people regardless of

religion, race, ethnicity or gender. HRIF is of an international partnership of

organizations, companies and private individuals (HRIF, 2016). The headquarters

of the organization is located in Weesp, just outside Amsterdam.

MISSION

Our vision is to support people in need

worldwide, especially those who live in

emergency areas such as those affected

by after war, internal displacement, and

natural disasters.

VISION

HRIF mission is to source and distribute Gift In Kind (GIK) donations amongst children, women, elderly people and other vulnerable groups.

These items are mainly clothing, shoes, blankets, food, medical equipment, medicines and furniture.

o This year we were able to improve on quantity and quality

of the Gift in Kind we accept. We now have more new

goods and additional companies who regularly donate their

surplus stock to HRIF. Many well-known brands passed

through our warehouses in 2016. A huge increase of

donated pharmaceuticals was received, due to our

increased control over our logistic processes.

o Moreover HRIF was able to focus on humanitarian aid

support to Kurdish Iraq in 2016. Both David Lazowski and

Max Veenstra were involved in establishing Bring Hope

Humanitarian Foundation in Erbil. This enables HRIF to

have full control of logistics and distribution of humanitarian

aid..

Looking back at 2016, we realize what we have accomplished with our small team.

o At the start of the year we only had Lida and Esther as paid staff members. However over the year the team expanded. First Roel joined in February as our warehouse manager; then Corine strengthened our admin team in September; followed by Edwin in October as warehouse operative. In addition Sanjay and Sarah both joined us for a 6 month internship.

o Ilse was seconded to us for 6 months by a large logistic corporation, coaching HRIF on our logistics processes. During this period we automated our logistic processes, reorganised the warehouse and further improved our strategy when approach companies for GIK. We are very fortunate that Ilse is still very much involved in various HRIF projects.

BHHF’s primary objective in providing humanitarian aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering, as well as to give the most vulnerable group (refugee children) hope for the future.
