PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Title 1, Part A- Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Education Agencies providessupplemental funding

• For resources to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families

• To support a high-quality education to enable all students to meet the state’s student performance standards

• To implement a school-wide program• To support effective methods and instructional

strategies that are grounded in scientifically-based research

CAMPUS PARTICIPATION

Each NISD elementary and middle school is –

• Designated as a Title 1, Part A school-wide campus

• Allocated funding based upon the number of students participating in the free/reduced lunch program

• Required to involve parents in the planning and services provided through Title 1, Part A funding

USE OF FUNDING

In the campus improvement plan that is presented to and approved by the NISD Board of Trustees, the campus shows how its Title 1, Part A allocation will be used –

• Support staff positions

• Offer professional development

• Fund technology

• Purchase instructional supplies/materials

• Provide parent involvement activities, etc.
