Movie Screening, June 8, 2017 - On June 8, St. Peter
Schaumburg is hosting two screenings of the new film Martin Luther: The Idea that Changed the World. The screening is a great way to reconnect with Luther's story- but it will only happen on June 8. We do need to sell the required tickets before the June 1st deadline, so purchase your ticket today and share with your friends and family! Blessing Bags for the Homeless There is a new opportunity for members of St. Peter to reach out with the gospel of Christ to help others in need. One gallon size zip-lock bags are being prepared with travel-size basic toiletries, warm socks, snack-size food items, and chocolate. A pocket-size prayer shawl will be included, as well as a message expressing God's love and care. We are asking for donations of items to be packed in the Blessing Bags. There will be a list of items requested and a box will be placed in the narthex to receive your donations. Thanks for your support.

An Essential Tremor Support Group (Fourth Sat. of each month from 9-10 a.m.) The E.T. Support Group is a place where people talk openly about the challenges of living with ET and exchange ideas in a comfortable and safe environment. Tuesday Night Prayer Group - The group meets every Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Peter sanctuary by the altar. It is led by Pastor Kevin Bergmann. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Charitable, Christian Planning Reflects our Faith. The opportunity to include charitable giving in the estate planning of U.S. citizens is largely overlooked by the vast majority of people in our nation. We hope that more people will continue to do in their death what they have done during their entire lives; namely share love with family members and support the work of the Lord. But, if a person waits until they are no longer able to make their own decisions or until they die, charitable planning is not likely to happen. Contrary to popular myth, a person can witness their faith and support ministries without disinheriting their family. The Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon is an opportunity for the staff of St. Peter Lutheran Church and School to thank all our volunteers for their time and effort. Join us on May 21 at 12:30 p.m
We've Received Accreditation! A National Lutheran School Accreditation Team, (NLSA), made up of eight Lutheran teachers and administrators, visited St. Peter this past week. They spent time observing classes, talking with teachers, students and parents as well as meeting with the administrators and pastors. It was their task to validate evidence we provided relating to NSLA standards.
The team is recommending St. Peter for accreditation status once again. (We have been continuously accredited by the NSLA since 1978.) Among other things, the team was impressed with the behavior of our students, especially in how they politely greeted team members. They were also impressed with the family environment and the positive climate they experienced during their visit. In addition to accolades and accommodations the team has given us some things to work on over the next five years in order to make St. Peter an even better school. Thank you all for your prayers and support during our year long self-study and team visit. Praise God for our Lutheran School!
GENERAL INFORMATION: Elderly Family Members Who Need Communion and Prayer Visitation: Regular visits can be set up and Holy Communion will be offered. When a Loved One is Called to Heaven: Please call the church office immediately and let us know that your loved one has gone to be with the Lord. We will be with you every step of the way during the preparation of the Funeral service and place your family’s name on our prayer list to offer prayers for strength at this time. Baptism Class Are you planning on having your child baptized? Before having your child baptized here at St. Peter, you need to attend a pre-baptism class. This class takes place one Saturday per month from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. Call the church office to register for the next class, 847-885-3350. Basic Teachings Class: If you have no church home of your own and would like to find out more about what we believe and teach, please enroll in our Basic Teachings Class led by Pastor Jerry Hays. Childcare is provided and you do need to attend both days (Friday evening & Saturday morning). (6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.) & (8:30 a.m. – Noon). Contact the church office if interested.

SR. HIGH YOUTH GROUP: - 9th – 12th Graders Welcome! Meet Sundays from 6:30-8pm.
“CONNECT” – Come connect with Christ and with one another! Students in 7th grade and 8th grade are invited! We meet Sundays from 5:00-6:30pm.
CONFIRMATION: 5th – 8 grade confirmation class meets at 6:30 – 8 p.m. every Wednesday. 6th Grade Welcome Night All junior high students are invited to a BBQ and bonfire party on Saturday, May 20th, from 8 PM - 10:30 PM. This is a big event! We will be officially welcoming all 6th graders going into 7th grade into our youth group and also unveiling the newly renovated youth room! There will be good food, s'mores, fun games, and a live music performed by the talented Adam Hernandez. We will meet in the youth room in the basement of the Red Schoolhouse. Cost of entry is $5. Chicagoland is here to support Moms and Dads who are grieving the loss of their babies through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death. Please feel free to bring a support person with you. During 2016 the following items were made and delivered: 120 Baby hats, 15 isolettes, 1baby”sack”, 7 sweaters, 3 car seat blankets, 21 scarves, 90 blankets, 92 chemo hats, 1 lap robe, 1 pair booties, 1 baby bottle cover, and 120 pocket prayer shawls for the military. This was accomplished with the help of Thrivent grants and yarn contributions from many members. Thanks to all.
