SETTING: PRINCE EDWARD´S ISLAND IN A TOWN CALLED AVONLEA AND A FARM HOUSE CALLED GREEN GABLES

Anne Shirley - An imaginative, talkative, red-headed orphan who comes to live with Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, unmarried siblings.

Marilla Cuthbert - An austere, repressed woman who tries in vain to subdue Anne's imaginative, unusual ways. Though she is rigidly conservative in her rules, she does love Anne.Matthew Cuthbert - Marilla's brother, a shy,

awkward man who takes a liking to Anne from the start. The two become fast friends. He is very kind to Anne.

Diana Barry - Anne's best friend. She is pretty and joyful girl. She is a loyal friend in whom Anne shares all her deepest secrets and daily adventures.

Gilbert Blythe - A handsome boy whom all the girls in town love. Since the first day of school he tried get Anne's attention to get to know her.

was an orphan who lived with diferent families and orphanages. She wasn´t happy.

& Adopted her. She lived with them in their farmhouse called Green Gables.

became best friends as soon as they met. They shared all their secrets and adventures. They were like sisters.

Is a very inteligent and creative girl. She loves to read books and imagine her life as a perfect story. What she doesn´t like about herself is her red hair and her name. She thinks it is too simple.

Anne´s first day at school wasn´t that good. a boy who likes to tease the girls, called her carrots and pulled her hair.

Anne got so mad that she broke her slate on Gilbert´s head. So the teacher punished her.Since then Anne got angry with Gilbert and wouldn´t accept his apology or talk to him at all.

Diana couldn´t believe that Gilbert asked Anne for forgiveness. He never used to do it to any of the girls he would tease. She was more surprised at the fact that Anne didn´t accept the apology. Diana admire her friend´s determination and security.

One of their most memorable moments was the Christmas ball.It was the first formal dance they went to. They were thrilled to wear an elegant dress. The adventure comes when Diana dares Anne to getGilbert to ask her to dance with him. And when she tries to do it . Gilbert ignores Anne at all. Anne feels so humiliated!

Later on when they finished school &went on to another city to study to become teachers.

A hole year went through. Both of them gratuated and got a scholarship to study in University.

When comes back to Green Gables that summer. dies.

Anne tells Marilla that she will not take the scholarship. Anne has asked to be teacher in a town near by. That way she can be close to her now that Mathew is gone.

But a great surprise happens. Gilbert, who was to stay as teacher in Avonlea (their town),asked for a change of places with Anne. The proposal was accepted. So finally Anne forgave Gilbert when he did this great thing for her. Since then they became best friends.
