About me

My name is Anna Rabczuk, I’m 21. I live and study in Warsaw at Polish Japanese Academy of Information Technology. I have a wide field of interests when it comes to art and graphic design. What interests me most, is visual communication and looking for

name: Anna Rabczukdate of birth: 14.01.1994place of birth: Warsaw, Polandmail: [email protected]

simple, effective solutions for difficult problems. I like to work with tradi-tional, analog techniques, they give me more freedom when I’m think-ing about the solutions. I believe that working with others is the best way to create good design. I try to broaden my knowledge and skills by attending different kinds of workshops and conferences. Last year I had a pleasure to attend calligraphy and experimental typography workshops. In the future I would like to learn about techniques of printing and binding books.Beside my fondness to analogue techniques, I’m also interested in new technologies and web design.I’m keen on reading about design and its history.

I work in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, Flash and InDesign. I’m also working on my 3d modelling skills in Autodesk Maya and I’m learning web designing in html and css language.

I speak fluent English and I know the basics of French. I’m also planning to learn German.

Visual Identity Miłosz Festival

“...as a twelve year old, I drew the map of my kingdom. It had only forests, no fields, andthe only means of transportation allowed was canoes. The only inhabitants of my kingdom were lovers of nature with proper diplomas.”

1.Starting points:poet’s quotation, image of a map, nature, islands and seas

2.Creating graphics:we took a macrophotograph of a printed letter, then posterized it in Photoshop and created outlines in Illustrator to achieve the effect of levels lines

Miłosz Poetry Festival 2015

During fall 2014 we started to work on designing visual identification for Miłosz Festival 2015, which is a an international poetry festival organized in Cracow, Poland, to commemorate the Polish Nobel Prize Winner, poet Czesław Miłosz.

I was working on a project in a group of three person.

Our project made it to the final, and although finally it was not cho-sen by the organizators, I’ve learned a lot about the designing process and working for real and demanding client.

Type Directors Club Exhibition in Warsaw

Fall 2014, I participated in preparing visual identification for Type Directors Club Exhibition which was organized by Polish Japanese Academy of Information Technology.

My project for the visual identification of the exhibition, prepared with two other students from my group was chosen as the official, representing the whole identification.

Designing the identity, we were inspired by the fact that all the works came to Poland from New York in a big suitcase. We were also inspired by New York wayfounding systems.

During second year of typography classes every student was obliged to do a poster and animation presenting a portrait of a famous typographerfrom the past. My typographer was Wolfgang Weingart, I decided to use only Akzidenz Grotesk in my work, which was his favourite typeface.

In the animation I used music of John Cage, who was the first experi-mental music composer.

Experimental typography

During the workshops with Ann Bessemans, we were supposed to de-sign our own letters, using experimental tools. We had to digitalize them and create compositions with our own letters, abstract shape and letters from existing font. I was working with other two people, during the workshops I’ve learnt to treat the letterform more as an abstract shape than meaningful sign.

Calligraphy

December 2014 I had a pleasure to take part in calligraphy workshops conducted by Vika & Vita Vitalina. I’ve learnt classic calligraphy: fraktura and cancellaresca. Our task was to create a logotype with our name.
