Exome sequencing of a family with familial Essential Tremor (ET) revealed 2 ET gene carriers who shared 1200 SNPs/variants. Only 70 were non-synonymous, which were further narrowed down to 18 variants segregating within the affected members of the family. The 18 were followed up in controls to see whether they were rare, leaving 3 rare variants. • Narrowed down a list of 1200 genetic variants to 2 rare variants that could cause Essential Tremor using Exome Sequencing, Sanger Sequencing and TaqMan Genotyping.

• Used techniques such as PCR and Gel Electrophoresis.

• Operated the BioMek FX automation machine and the Life Technologies 3730 Sequencer.

• Analyzed and compared variants in the wild type population to those diagnosed with Essential Tremor using SeqScape software.
