A SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
A SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
DESIGNINTENT :
The challenge was to create a
building where it should
become an exemplar of what
the school believes as good
architecture.
The design was shaped to the
contour and the profile of the
site and levels were created
accordingly to contours
underneath .
Geometric modeling of site contours
Places or water impact in rainy season
Vegetation impact
The site is surrounded by
dense vegetation
Wind forces piercing through Site plan

DESIGNCRIT : As an architecture school must be interested in creating
ideas and perpetuating values hence the concept of closed crit should be abolished. where the student is evaluated in a closed room the fellow students do not get to learn the evaluated student
strengths/mistakes as this type of evaluation only ends in between the walls also restricts new learning.
Hence long planar surfaces with walkways were created where one would put up their designs and would be easily accessible and also for a concept of moving population as in a school also the
better works would survive for the next arrival of fellow juniors
EVENING LIGHT
MORNING LIGHT
Spaces like washrooms, photography dark
rooms etc were located below classrooms between
parallel walls providing a secluded area
An inspiration from the CEPT classroom study
DESIGNSTUDIO : A deep universal
space with multiple light sources and an effort to cut heat gain establishing a good relationship
with the occupant and the volume.
Two volumes are interlocked with each other to create an ambiguous distribution of space
creating a sense of one large spatial volume.
As hot air and fast winds are synonymous to the place there are windows on the top of the
wall where it carries the hot wind not allowing to stagnant in the
lecture/design hall
AMPHITHEATRE: The central amphitheatre is a multi-utility
space representing a courtyard from where various entrances were worked out to shun logical sequence off movement from open to inside. This also helped to connect
distant pats of the campus visually.
The central amphitheatre doubling up as steps for the campus
Amphitheatre the central entity binding the campus
SPACESINFORMAL: Little spaces / Hideouts are a key part of
student life a place of unsettling action and interaction was the need of the day.
It was an effort to bring in a unified campus ,but also sometimes open to modification and adjustments between the
inter disciplinary population.
