Animal Cruelty Necropsy Report Michelle A. Mobley, LVT VETE 4266
Jan 02, 2016
History An intact adult, male, 18.8 kg pit bull terrier
dog was rescued by ABC Animal Control on 9-May-2008. He was used as bait for dog fights and was kept chained up outside without adequate food or water. He had an embedded cloth collar and a pinch chain collar. The skin had grown over the embedded collar. Due to his parasite infestation, heartworm disease, emaciation, dehydration, and several fight wounds he was humanely euthanized.
Case I- Photograph taken without any sedative
- Patient is severely dehydrated, anemic, and emaciated
Outcome
Due to the severe emaciation, dehydration, heartworm results, and damage to internal organs. This canine was humanely euthanized.
The owner will face several charges of animal cruelty.
Picture on the right was during his prime and seemed very healthy.
Animals should not be used as bait or used for entertainment purpose. I am glad that this owner will be facing charges and possible prison time. I am glad the animal abuse laws have become stricter with time. Animals are only here on earth for a short period of time and we should treasure them. We are their voice! We, as technicians should continue to educate ourselves to see the signs of animal abuse, so we can help protect them.
