Andrew undertook a three year course and passed two examinations in order to become a lawyer under the Legal Services Act 2007, gaining a Costs Lawyer practicing certificate regulated by the CLSB. Andrew has worked in legal costs for 12 years, initially joining Clarion as a trainee law costs draftsman in 2001. In 2008 he became head of costs and litigation funding at the firm leading its six-strong team on a portfolio of nationwide clients. “The industry has largely been unregulated for many years although there has been a push towards greater regulation since 2008,” explains Simon Young, partner in Clarion’s dispute resolution and litigation practice. “Gaining a practicing certificate as a costs lawyer demonstrates a high level of training, giving clients peace of mind knowing that they are working with an expert in this specialist field. “This is great news for our costs and litigation funding team, adding to its reputation as one of the best in the region and supporting its continued growth.”
