Andrés Solís Lira, WSET Nominated Educator. Andrés Solís Lira, our WSET Nominated Educator, comes from Chile. He was born at the foothills of the Andes Mountains in what is now the Cachapoal wine country. Andrés began studying as an undergraduate college student, but left that path in order to become a Chef de Cuisine, obtaining a respected BTS de Hôtelleire-Restauration while working in some of the most cutting-edge restaurants in Santiago, Chile. Coming from a winemaking family, the draw of the family’s roots proved too strong and Andrés moved into the wine world - a trade in which he has worked for the past decade as a Sommelier, part-time Vendangeur, Writer and Teacher. In 2009 Andrés joined Queen Mary 2, working as a Sommelier in the Britannia Restaurant and eventually making his way up to the internationally renowned Queens Grill restaurant. He later worked on board Queen Elizabeth, only to return to the flagship as a certified WSET educator for the Cunard Wine Academy.
